For painting, you’ll have to degrease the pool’s surface with TSP, acid etch the plaster and then wash again with TSP, allowing for several days of air drying prior to painting. For plastering, the material under the tiles and around the floor of the pool will need to be specially cut and chipped, then acid etched to rough up the surface. An additional coarse coat will be applied before the plaster is brought in.
How Nice Does It Look? While both products provide a well-kept appearance to the pool, it’s important to decide which texture you prefer. Painting gives the bottom of the pool a reflective look while plastering provides more of an eggshell finish, so the decision is completely up to you.
