The prospect of attending GW excites me in many ways. Firstly, GW offers a massive amount of diversity, much more than I am used to. Students from every background, creed, socioeconomic status, and culture attend GW, as opposed to the largely homogenous area that I am from. I love listening to people and learning about them, learning their background, their story, their hopes and their dreams. At universities like GW, that is where hopes and dreams come to fruition. I love seeing people succeed and better themselves while doing things they love doing. Secondly, the prospect of being a part of the GW community excites me because community is something I have found that is lacking in my current institution. Because it is a commuter school, as
Looking back, I regard attending WBU one of my best lifetime decisions. Before I discuss my experiences at WBU, it would be prudent to first give a brief background of myself. To begin with, I have had the opportunity of serving my country in the military and in a way; this has largely shaped my personality and my outlook of life. In that regard, I have come to appreciate the value of life more than ever before. Further, the time I have served in the military has taught me that success is possible in any facet of life with the right attitude, determination and personal sacrifice.
The University of Georgia has always been my dream school because of its reputation for diverse experiences and academic success. I hope to bring my own unique qualities to the table as a UGA student.
I know that this college would be a great opportunity to show others that you can come from nothing and actually become something. I live in a family where my mother dropped out of school in the 8th grade and my father didn’t go to college. I will be the first in the family to go to college. I feel as though this college would be the best college to start out with.
My initial interest was through the academic program, but what peaked provocation is the mission statement. I admire that an apparent goal is to learn from each other as community members and also from industry leaders. I think it is important to learn from each other, as your peers are sometimes the people you learn the most from. Additionally, I was pleased that students learn from people actively in their field of study. My favorite part of the mission statement is that students work to break the boundaries on real world issues. Many of the classes and activities I have been apart of in high school touch on this part of the mission statement; I think it is the most important part. There is no point in being educated if it is not to better the world in a positive way and I appreciate that at Syracuse that journey, to relate and impact the real world begins as a student. Overall I am eager to apply to Syracuse to embrace the opportunities it provides and to be apart of a network of brilliant people, through athletics, internships, classes, and social
As a military wife one of my greatest duties is to support my husband while he supports our nation. That duty has led to our family having to relocate and change many aspects of our lives including which school I attend. I am thankful that that obligation is now making it possible for me to potentially attend The George Washington University. While transferring midway through a degree certainly is not ideal I do feel like this is a remarkable opportunity that I am eager to embrace. I cannot help but feel as if my journey in higher education is finally getting where it was supposed to be all along. As a teenager, I envisioned life at my age and it never involved four children and a halfway complete English degree. I had planned to attend the university in my hometown and then, after four perfect years of course, become a wonderful high school English teacher just doing what I loved every day.
There are many reasons one should be excited to attend George Washington University. George Washington University is an opportunity for people from across the globe, to surround themselves around greatness. I believe that George Washington University will teach you how to have a clearer perspective on how; one actually views the world and; also the experience you will gain at this great institution will teach you to be cognizant of the varied and, valuable cultures from which students derive.
Brigham Young University in Hawaii is the college that I would most like to attend. I would prefer to attend a church school and be around people that share my religious views and standards. BYU Hawaii is most attractive because it has a prodigious heritage and diverse cultures compared to the other church schools. In short, the cultural diversity attracts me to BYU Hawaii. I have grown up in an area that is not culturally diverse. I enjoy meeting people of different backgrounds and ethnicities because it opens my eyes to the diversity throughout the world. It is exciting to be around and meet people that come from different backgrounds. I am always intrigued by their unique cultures. There is an older Hawaiian woman in my ward that has
I am inspired by love stories. As I have come to realize, George Washington University is home to many. The love between a professor and his craft, a student and his passion, or perhaps a determined young woman and great opportunities. Regardless of the story, the GW community fosters love. It won’t be luck that lends me the opportunity to join such a community, but the dedication of my efforts. I am excited to join a community that shares in my values and welcomes my high aspirations. While I hope to call George Washington University home, I know that this community is where I belong.
Clemson University has always been special because of the opportunities it has given to me and my family. Giving my father and uncle to play on the football team that went on to win a national championship, as well as a college education makes me feel thankful because without a full scholarship, they would not afford college. Being named after the mascot, my connection to the university was apparent at birth. Clemson has given members of my family opportunities and I feel like Clemson can give me opportunities as well. My future plans in life include attending medical or law school to pursue a degree in one of those two fields. The academic programs that Clemson offers will best prepare for my future goals. Having advanced research and degree
GCSU is my home for the next four wonderful years of my life. I chose this campus mainly for the location in the state of Georgia. GCSU is only two and a half hours from my home town of Port Wentworth. This means I can still go home on the weekends to see my family. It is also close to UGA where my best friend goes and I can go see her any time I need to.
From my experience at GW, diversity is uncanny, you’ll run into students from all kinds of backgrounds. We have organizations like the African Student Association and The Multicultural Student Services Center which is unbelievably useful in terms of networking. I run into so many great students who share common goals as me.
“You are a product of your environment.” W Clement Stone emphasized this, stating that we are made who we are from what whe experience. I grew up with different cultures, one being Mexican, the other American. Along with this, my parents had opposing social, political and religious beliefs. Due to a cultural contrast and a mix, I am able to recognize disparities which paved the way for my passion in social activism, and religious independence.
Also, I have been a volunteer in the community and have worked with people from all walks of life. I am certain this has played a role in my educational path as well as my course of study. I know that my purpose in life is to help others and that purpose has been transferred to my educational route. The graduate degree program will be beneficial to me to fulfill my purpose to change people’s lives. I want to be a positive addition to my future career choice, and with this opportunity to further and better myself I will be able to achieve my
Getting an up-close experience for yourself is better than watching it through someone else's eyes. When I received the grand opportunity to stay overnight at Denison University, honestly, at the time I had low expectations. However, after experiencing what Denison had to offer my mindset about this school changed. So what was it that sparked my interest? Well, for one it had to do with the classes and how much students were actively participating as well as asking the professor challenging questions. As a leader, I like to see other leaders take the initiative, questioning what they are learning while not just eating everything they are fed. Furthermore, the second reason had to do with the closeness of the group of African-American students
The biggest motivation for me attending GCU would have to be my family and more specifically my Children. I had all three of my kids by the age of 22, I got married at a very young age, that unfortunately ended in a divorce. I went through a really hard time in my life during and after and because of the many years I stayed at home taking care of my kids I didn't do very much after finishing high school because my first child had already been born. My education suffered because of this and I never received a secondary education like I had always dreamed of. Just working a basic job where I don’t make that much money and give all my time and effort is something I want to escape. I would
