These boards feature capacitors, transformers, internal circuits, and ports such as DVI and VGA, most of which were created in New Taipei, Taiwan. The board on the top left processes the commands inputted through the keyboard and mouse, while the one on the bottom controls the visual display the commands inputted into the computer through typing or mouse movement. The board on the top right processes and interprets data from external drives and disks. Each of these cards contain capacitors, internal circuits, and diodes, which are all necessary components in the monitor to help the boards function properly. The internal circuit on the bottom motherboard, as well as other smaller circuits, were developed by HannStar in their Nanjing corporation located in Nanjing, China. The board on the top right, which is a LCD monitor controller, contains a specific integrated circuit designed by Genesis Microchip Incorporated that uses a serial flash interface to achieve peak pin count efficiency including error calculators known as derivatives controllers giving consumers the ability to find parts of the monitor with a singular process control block (PCB). Currently, computers are used for everything in life. For example, from researching for a large essay project to playing video games with friends. “From the outset, computers were weighed for both military and commercial significance, and hence they straddled the very institutional boundaries that central to this study. It is also significant that computers became valuable research instruments in nearly all disciplines.” (Akera, 2). The first digital computer was constructed in 1946 by John Mauchly, a professor, and Presper Eckert, an inventor. “They met by chance in 1941 at the University of Pennsylvania’s Moore School of Engineering. They soon developed a revolutionary vision: to use electricity as a means of computing--in other words, to make electricity "think."” (McCartney, 1). They were ignored by their colleagues, but in 1943 they were becoming more well known and was funded by the U.S Army. The U.S Army was seeking for a contraption that can quickly calculate ballistic missile trajectories in wartime Europe and Africa (McCartney, 1). In the book, “The Circuit” by Francisco Jimenez, some examples are given on how family and culture can influence one’s life. Family and culture can negatively affect a person’s life because in the narrator’s case, it can cause them to move away from their friends or work hard to support their family. For example, “As the last days of August disappeared, so did the number of braceros. Sunday, only one—the best picker—came to work. I liked him. [...] That Sunday was the last time I saw him. [...] The thought of having to move to Fresno and knowing what was in store for me there brought tears to my eyes” (Jimenez 2 and 5). My favorite exhibit was the command point presented by Steven Dayley. He works on the command point project. Whenever there is an emergency call to 911, the people that answer the phone have to input information into the program that Mr. Dayley showed us. After the 911 dispatcher inputs the information, he/she sends emergency vehicles to a specific location. The Graphics Card is computer component in most modern day PCs. The Card uses the PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) or PCI-E (PCI Express) slots on the motherboard. It’s used to show all of the visuals on the computer screen: it can use the following: DIV (Digital Visual Interface), VGA (Video Graphics Array), and HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) output. The oldest of the three is VGA; VGA was made in 1987 and still used to this day. The next one used is DVI. DVI is a lot newer than VGA but it’s still not the greatest now a day’s. The last and newest is HDMI; HDMI is what most people use today. It was made in the late 20’s.
