For instance, when I was a child at the age of 5 years old, I would find happiness by eating dirt, playing hide and seek, and being with my older siblings. The connotation could be defined in many actions; it depends on who the question is towards. If somebody just sees the negative aspects of life he does not notice the wonderful ones. Happiness comes in a whole variety of ways.

While he ties his shoes and hears the encouragement of his parents saying “you can do it” it then leads him to touch his shoes and sees it accomplished. These are some common examples of experiences of this emotion known as happiness. These examples demonstrate
What does it mean to be happy? There are so many definitions of the word “Happiness” because it means different things to different people. According to oxford dictionary, happiness means “The state of being happy”. For some other people happiness can be purchasing of things like clothes, shoes, gadgets. Many people feel happy when they go shopping and get new stuffs, but is that truly happiness? Like the say everything happens for a reason, don’t let your past bother you, rather think about your present
Happiness is one of the most significant dimensions of human experience. Many people can argue that happiness is a meaningful and desirable entity. Studies indicate that everyone pursues happiness in various aspects of their life. Our four fathers saw happiness as a need, so they made the pursuit of happiness as one of the three unalienable rights branded in the Declaration of Independence. There is a sense of complexity behind the meaning of happiness; its definition is not definite. Think of happiness as a rope; there are many thin fiber strands bonded together to become the strength of the rope. Like the analogy of the rope, there are numerous factors that can contribute to an individual’s overall happiness in life. This study is going to
“It’s so hard to forget pain, but it’s even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace. (- Chuck Palahniuk) There are times in which people feel ecstatic or overjoyed for some reason. We may ask them why but their answer would probably be “because I’m happy”. People might not think about it but we might ask ourselves, what does it mean to be happy. In Macbeth his happiness was to have the throne of his cousin while in Federigo’s Falcon it was to have the woman he loved by his side. In the video, The Science of Happiness, gratitude is what makes us as humans truly happy.
What then is happiness? Perhaps happiness is a basic and familiar concept, yet it may occur to be perplexing when one has to convey it through the medium of words. Lyubomirsky defines the term as “the experience of joy, contentment, or positive well-being, combined with a sense that one’s life is good, meaningful, and worthwhile” (Lyubomirsky 32). It is often subjective, personal, and can stem from a myriad of activities: some may experience similar feelings by engaging in sports, spending time with family and friends, others while reading or simply being in solitude. Due to the personal nature and subjectivity of happiness, a handful of myths pertaining to this concept has emerged. Three happiness myths were presented within the chapter: 1. Happiness must be found. 2. Happiness lies in changing our circumstances. 3. You either have it or you don’t. The first myth greatly piqued my interest, since I, too, have once externalized happiness and assumed that it would be found outside.
In my definition of happiness, happiness is when someone who experiences frequent positive emotions. These emotions can all be illustrated with joy, interest, and pride. An unhappy person often portrayed negative emotions, such as anger and sadness.

Happiness is one of human’s most passionate feelings. Defined by Wolfram Alpha, happiness is a mental state abound with pleasant emotions and intense joy. Although abstract, one can perceive happiness through any of the five senses, as objects, feelings, and even thoughts can stir happiness. For example, one may associate happiness with the delicious smell of warm, chocolate chip cookies in the oven or hearing the crack of the bat as one hits the game-winning home run. In addition to smell and hearing, happiness is depicted through senses such as taste, touch, and sight.

Happiness is not a strange term to us. We usually use that word to express our feelings in every day. Additionally, more than a word, “happiness” is what we really need and always seek in life. However, finding and understanding deeply its meaning is not easy. The online dictionary, “vocabulary.com” defines, “Happiness is a sense of well-being, joy, or contentment. When people are successful, or safe, or lucky, they feel happiness.” Thus, we always wonder if we are happy or how could we be happier in our life. Happiness, therefore, becomes a goal for everybody.
The feeling of happiness is ubiquitous. In the book of “Stumping on Happiness” states, “to choose or want one thing rather than another because it would be more pleasant,” which is to say that the pursuit of happiness is built the very definition of desire” (Gilbert 33). Happiness is a feeling because I can use my eyes to see all the lovely things in the world. I can use my ear to listen to the natural singing softly. I can use my hand to touch the delicate petals. I am happy I can use my nose to smell the scent of grass. Happiness can have endless memories. Unlike a blind man living in the shadowy world, he has to use walking sticks as a guide to precede the life of the road ahead of him. His main support is to touch a person to perceive
Happiness is a word that we often use without truly thinking about its meaning. After reading this chapter one of the insight that I found intriguing is how different people look at happiness in a different perspective. This chapter truly made me think about what happiness truly is about. We often use the word without truly thinking of what it really means to be happy. Something that surprised me is that we often see happiness as, “ The most immediate and direct

Now, besides my childhood delights, I feel great when I find myself helpful, and when I spend time with my family. Happiness is intangible. We can’t possess it, but we feel it and live with it. And because it is a human feeling, there is no one fixed definition for everybody.
