Abstract
Health care delivery systems are an organized health service. This service is to provide health care available to those in certain populated areas financed by the government, private enterprises, or both (medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/healthcaresystem). As well as to better serve a population for more efficient cultural competence, quality, and financing, health care system deliveries plans to ensure the nation’s health. Just like every other organization, health care system deliveries go through crisis as well. With the help of the governmental agencies, nongovernmental agencies, and

While providing citizens with health care, employees are also informing them about the importance of disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment options, and rehabilitation and palliative care services. In the midst of employees teaching their patients about how important their health care is, the employees are also learning.
Throughout this learning process, employees gain knowledge about the importance of having a preparedness plan in case of disasters like terrorist attacks and public health emergencies such as epidemic breakouts and etc. Health care facilities that have preparedness plans usually has a more successful recovery. Like any other organization, the necessary steps taken, results in an amazing outcome. The one thing health care providers should take into consideration is the safety of the patient, however the business is just as important. Of course, no one knows exactly when disaster is going to strike, so the best way to stay ready is working each day as if disaster is going to strike.
An example of health care recovery would be the system before and after the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. According to Health Affairs (2006), New Orleans had a largely poor and African American population with one of the nation’s highest uninsurance rates, and many relied on the Charity Hospital system for care. This devastating disaster left many without access to healthcare during the hurricane and
In a perfect world there would be better access to healthcare, there would always be quality care, and health care would be affordable. Each of these three components, accessibility, quality, and affordability, are the essential elements of delivering successful healthcare outcomes. By evaluating health care delivery systems students become much more likely to achieve these efforts.
With Hurricane Katrina, there were major issues that the healthcare infrastructure had to face. One major issue that was created by the hurricane was extensive flooding. The flooding contaminated the region’s drinking water and sanitation system, making it hard for citizens to find adequate drinking water. Flooding also increased the spread of communicable diseases such as HIV (Taylor, 2007). The hurricane completely destroyed buildings including hospitals and other health facilities. This impacted the patients that were already admitted into these hospitals, as well as, those in need of medical attention after the hurricane. It was nearly impossible to treat patients because medical
-There are four functional components of health care delivery system. 1-Financing: to purchase insurance or to pay for health care services consumed. 2-Insurance: to protect against catastrophic risk
After the 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City, a partnership between the city, New York State, the federal government and community-based organizations moved swiftly to provide easily accessible, comprehensive coverage to thousands of New Yorkers. This approach ¡V with modifications that meet the needs of this disaster ¡V can provide stable, dependable health coverage to Katrina survivors and enable Katrina-affected states, neighboring states, and other states sheltering Katrina survivors to cope with increased demands on their health care systems and state budgets.
In day to day operations, uncertainties do occur. Henceforth it would be important to have a contingent and well detailed disaster preparedness plan and procedures. Healthcare systems, on a day to day basis, are faced with emergencies in form of disasters. As a result, majority of medical centers have well-structured exit plans in the event of a disaster occurring("Hospital Disaster Preparedness: Your Guide to Getting Started - Emergency Preparedness", 2011). However, this essay will aim at interviewing one of the top disaster preparedness staffat the Houston Methodist Hospital. In the interview, I will seek to identify the top three disasters that the Houston Methodist Hospital is prepared for. Similarly, in the interview, I would seek to identify the top lessons learnt from disaster preparedness at the hospitals. As it concludes it would summarize the findings with regards to the interview stated below. Below is an excerpt from the interview to answer the two aforementioned questions.

For this discussion, I researched Louisiana’s health care reform after the devastating Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana on August 29, 2005 and changed the residents lives forever. The city of New Orleans was affected the worst by the hurricane. Before the hurricane, Louisiana already had high rates of poverty and a lack of financial resources that put Louisiana as a high-spending and low-performing state. There was a lot of destruction that took away some of Louisiana’s health care facilities so they had to figure out “how to rebuild the infrastructure, how to protect the citizens, how to reestablish and perhaps reconfigure programs and services (Morial, J.,2007) .”
The public health personnel had to deal with multiple problems both during the initial period and after the immediate danger had past. Actions taken by the community health nurse to help the people who were interviewed cope with the situations after the flooding were:
and Dentistry and Director of the Program in Disaster Mental Health in the Department of Psychiatry and the UR Center for Disaster Medicine and Emergency Preparedness. For over a decade, he has responded to numerous national disasters as a volunteer with the American Red Cross. He has also developed comprehensive disaster mental health training programs for the New York State Office of Mental Health and the New York State Department of Health currently being disseminated throughout every county, state psychiatric center and acute healthcare facility throughout New York State.
Health care systems are organizations that are formed to meet the overall health needs of the population. Health care is regarded as one of the leading cause in promoting not only physical and mental health but the well-being of the population. Legislation is implemented requiring government to offer services to all members of its society. The role of health services and the organizations that provide aid is to focus on the health of an individual and to uphold their human rights. According to WHO (2013), a “well-functioning health care system requires a robust financing mechanism, a well-trained and adequately-paid workforce, reliable information on which to base decisions and policies, and well maintained facilities and logistics to deliver quality medicines and technologies (World Health Organization; 2013).
From the perspective of a health care administrator, I will identify, develop, and discuss strategic issues in planning a model by prioritizing issues facing a community when dealing with a natural disaster using the four MAPP assessments that align with the shared community mission. Lastly, I explain how you would promote collaborations among clinical professionals, explain methods that encourage physician leadership in patient care enhancement, and explain quality initiatives that reduce organizational risk and support patient safety.
The United States healthcare delivery system is a uniquely developed system that involves various features, components, and services. The US delivery system is massive, with total employment in various healthcare settings of qualified medical professionals that provide key functions to delivering quality healthcare. This essay will discuss the characteristics if the United States healthcare delivery system and how it could be developed from a free market perspective.
A health care system is the association of institutions related to people's health and resources. It delivers health services in order to meet the health needs of the targeted populations (Nigam, 2011). There is a wide variation in the world of how different nations organize their health care systems, with almost all nations having differing health care organizational structures. Planning in some countries for health care distributes to those participating in markets. In other countries, however, planning is as a result of joint efforts between the government, religious bodies, and charities among other groups (Nigam, 2011).
Health care delivery system is the organized system which is providing the health facilities or services to the patients for assuring the nation’s health with help of clinicians, hospitals and other health care facilities and insurance plans etc. different programs serve a child’s distinct eligibility, funding, and administrative criteria that present barriers to access. This patchwork disconnects program and makes it difficult for obtaining health care as integrated and coordinated fashion. These programs distinguish infections that older and younger generations undergo. Dysfunctions originate in complicated family or socio-economic conditions than exclusive biological causes. Hence, it is hard addressing with conventional medicines only.
During a disaster happens, healthcare workers are one of the first to respond (Achora & Kamanyire, 2016). It is important for nurses to know where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be there, and what they are supposed to do once they get there. With having a well thought out plan in place it not only reduces anxiety on healthcare worker but to the public as well, in turn having better outcomes.
