Americans live in an “on the go” type world; with the fastest and newest technology, easy to access internet sites, faster fuel-efficient automobiles, and even a quicker way to pick up a family dinner. Since the nineteen-fifties, companies began developing fast food chains, the first became the famous McDonald's. Currently a fast food restaurant can be found on every corner in a developed city. Every famous drive-thru restaurant was developed by American companies, due to the fact that America is known as the fastest and busiest country in the world. With the current fast-paced country, hard-working Americans cannot find the time to cook or go to the grocery stores. Therefore, Americans tend to prefer buying food from fast food chains because …show more content…
Fast food was created for the taste buds; the food is delicious, greasy, and unfortunately is calorie high. The human body cannot handle eating unhealthy types of food and if the body does not get the required vitamins to remain healthy issues will arise. One of the most common fast food related health issues is obesity. Obesity can also lead to diabetes, high blood pressure/sugar, cardiovascular diseases, and even sleep disorders. This can be avoided by exercising after eating high-calorie foods. However, Americans have very busy schedules that exercise cannot be a part of a daily routine. Currently, the fast food industry has tried to add healthier menu options, but with that means higher prices of items. Therefore, many food chains have not created healthier options because the company is afraid to lose customers due to higher food prices. The other effect of continually eating out is the added up of money. Even though the prices are affordable, the amount of money for a regular customer will begin to increase. Money does not grow on trees, and the majority of people work to make money to survive in their daily lives. A college student can survive on continuously buying fast food for oneself, but when compared to a family of three or four surviving on take out will put a hole in the bank
While everyone generally knows that fast food is not good for their health, however people still eat it for various reasons. Most people that buy fast food have low incomes, are uneducated, and/or are people just trying to save a couple of bucks. Most people trying to save money are buying fast food and it is costing their health in the long run. This will eventually end up costing people even more money.
Fast food has a harmful effect on society because it can cause obesity. The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry believes obesity “Overweight children are much more likely to become overweight adults unless they adopt and maintain healthier patterns of eating and exercise.” (parag. 1).The causing and treating of obesity is complex but it is the most recognizable disease. Consistently eating fast food and a poor can lead to obesity in anyone. The risks of obesity include an increased risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. According to the American Heart Association, fast food “Studies have shown that over the past four decades, consumption of food eaten away from home has also risen alarmingly” (parag. 8). This means that fast food is high in fat, sugar, salt, carbs, calories, saturated and trans fats. This type of eating leads to a higher body mass index or gained weight. Children and adolescents are at a
Fast food eateries are one of the main, if not the primary, reason behind obesity in the United States. Fast food, what many people for the most part view as a speedy approach to get some nourishment, is really killing a large number of individuals than you may suspect. In this current time, nearly everybody realizes that fast food isn 't especially the best thing for you to eat, yet that won 't verge on preventing us from eating it. Diverse things play a component with respect to why we as a whole eat fast food. It could be a money related circumstance, a little or extensive depending on the oily stuff, or only a requirement for snappy sustenance.
Fast food is exactly how it sounds: food that can be quickly produced for a simple meal. Although they may be satisfactory, they are anything but healthy. Eating fast food is appetizing which is one of the main reasons it is so popular. Not only does it taste good to many, but it is inexpensive, too! America is the number one place for fast food. There are over 160,000 fast food restaurants in the United States and over 50 million Americans are served fast food daily. The frequency of eating fast food is also a problem because according to statisticbrain.com 44 percent of Americans confessed to consuming fast food once per week. What people do not realize is the harm that fast food is doing to their body. Not only is fast food a
With the huge diversity and changeability of human biology, it is impossible to imagine a reality without some mutations, changes, or issues in the organs and tissues of humans. Thus, it rightly follows that medications and pharmaceuticals have been created in an effort to counteract the various ailments and illnesses that people can experience. However, as time has gone on and these pharmaceuticals have become more and more high-tech, regulated, and trusted, they have also become incredibly commercialized. Worse still, medications have become incredibly expensive and can be unattainable for some people.
I think that obesity is America’s biggest health problem because so many other health problems are contributed and linked to obesity.
Throughout the United States of America obesity is an ongoing problem for people among different socioeconomic statuses. The government, pharmaceutical, agricultural and food production companies are the leading cause of obesity, resulting in many health issues among Americans. The government wants people to be unhealthy to increase their income from the healthcare industry and Americans are falsely educated on the topic of their health and diet.
Many individuals do not recognize the elements of food they consume, whether they’re healthy or unhealthy. In America, we are surrounded by supermarkets and restaurants who sell good and bad foods, which are hard to avoid. We develop cravings such as foods that contain high sugar and fat. This leads to chronic health issues. Whole foods are converted to processed foods, deceiving a person trying to follow a diet. Some believe that we can eat anything and our bodies will filter it out naturally despite what we see in public and hear in the news. According to my independent research, eating all types of food and thinking it will allow our body to figure out what should properly be digested is a strong risk to take.
The Somalis are one of the largest groups of new refugees to arrive in the United States in the last two decades. Most Somali refugees resettling in the United States have arrived from refugee camps in Kenya and Ethiopia. A substantial number of Somali refugees have witnessed refugee camps. Families who were admitted to the US as a refugee could file refugee/asylee relative petition and could bring their spouses or their children. However, the U.S. accepts large numbers of Somalis. Most of those refugees live in Minnesota and many other cities. Before they arrive in the U.S, medical practitioners at the refugee camps make sure that none of those refugees carries any transmittable diseases.
I believe that the United States is clearly taking action and are a part of the problem against the nation’s leading public health threats obesity, tobacco use and HIV/AIDS. These issues affect just about every racial and ethnic community, especially those who have limited health care. Yes, the public is well educated with the media and public service announcements about prevention of these health issues, but what about the problems that still exist and how much more can be done to intervene altogether.
Eldercare Market- This market is growing considerably annual as the baby boomer generation is starting to retire. By 2030, the US Census Bureau predicts, almost a fifth of the population will be over the age of 65.
We live in a world that is in a continuous process of transformation, considering that progress manages to control all the aspects of individual's life. Being part of a society which is always changing makes it essential for people have to adapt to all these aspects. One of the biggest problems for the American society is that it has no time to eat, since it is always on the run. Fast food came as the greatest solution for this problem. Since the process of modernization of the American society is accelerated day by day, the fast food industry has gained its place on the market. Even if individuals are well aware of the problems they can and will encounter if they eat fast food, they are forced by the circumstances to fall back on it.
There are a few issues that I know by experience and of course, by investigating the problems with healthcare in the United States through different sources. The high cost of healthcare insurance is a big problem. The rates are constantly getting higher. There is a major problem with the United States healthcare fee. According to Moon, M. (2005), “The problems driving Medicare costs upward are not unique to the public sector, but rather are found throughout the nation's healthcare system. The crisis of rising healthcare costs affects all payers: individuals, businesses and governments.”
Millions of Americans across the country face health issues, but refuse to acknowledge them for different reasons. Some can’t afford health care; others ignore warning symptoms, and most just live everyday without paying attention to their bad habits. Society is constantly changing as time moves forward, which means health awareness is not too far behind. Medical communities are continuously working hard to keep up with health behaviors across the country. Before technology took the lead telephone surveillance was the best way to contact citizens in regards to how they maintained their health. Now that older measures are becoming less of an option health workers are developing more modern techniques when trying to collect data. It’s seems more people are interested in knowing how to live longer, but
One of the larger health problems faced by the United States is the amount of people afflicted with heart disease and stroke. Heart disease and stroke are at the top of the list for diseases with the highest number of deaths per year across the nation; with heart disease being the leading cause of death for Americans. The populations with the highest rates of death from heart disease are non-hispanic black as well as white individuals. And while the risk of death from stroke is lower than that of heart disease, stroke is considered the third highest killer within the country with non-hispanic blacks also holding the highest rates of patients dying from the condition. The leading causes of heart disease and stroke are high blood pressure
