We were referred to four different assessment tools/processes which are currently in use in England: Derby City Health Needs Assessment Tool, Tynedale Health Needs Assessment Tool, Kirklees Universal Needs Assessment and the Common Assessment Framework. The Derby, Tyndale and Kirklees assessments are locally developed and used by Health Visitors and school nurses. The Common Assessment Framework is a central government initiative, with the Every Child Matters framework, which is designed to be used by practitioners working in any children’s services, not only health.

Social class relates to health and social care as for some this could be a barrier to receiving health care. This is because some people who always have access to money expect more and they won't wait months to see a specialist like everyone else. Some people that are from low classes and who lack money may find it difficult to access health care as the costs of transport are too high. Within the UK we pay for prescriptions when we are over the age of 18 years old. If an individual cannot afford the prescription this may affect compliance.

Service users or people who need care feel vulnerable and powerless. Experiencing of significant illness or impairment and mental health problem are the factors that can be disabling for anyone. However, regardless of their health condition that the service users have, health providers should always bear in mind that, service users have rights to make their own choices. They are also protected by the legal rights like, Data Protection Act 1998, Care Standards Act 2000/ Codes
The health and social care act 2001 says that there is an importance to involve and to consult service users/ patients which can help shape and create their own care plans. Which can result in more and more individuals who are suffering from a mental health issue/ problem can access the services as they won’t feel like they are being discriminated against. The mental capacity act 2005 and the mental health act 2007 says that the reason behind involving service users is to overcome some initial barriers of the more traditional services and this was outlined in some of the current developments that are happening within these laws. The mental capacity and mental health act shows that there will be the removal of the standard traditional service so they can move forward and introduce a more approachable service which enabled service users and communities to become more
