The Hellenistic period starts during the Hellenistic civilization, one of the Art forms used during this period was Fresco, the art of painting on plaster walls. Before painting the walls they had to be prepared with a thin layer of white lime plaster. Then using a sharp instrument they would outline the features and sketched all the details, colors were applied after. During the span of the Classical and Hellenistic periods in Ancient Greece, many changes occurred that differentiated one from the other. There were many facets of society that were affected as a result from the Classical period leading to the Hellenistic period.
From the ancient world to modern civilization, Greek civilization has left its impact on our world throughout history. From Greece’s rise and fall, its social, political, and cultural contributions, without the Greeks we would not be as advanced as we are today. The western world was highly influenced by the Greeks, gaining ideas about art, architecture, philosophy, and science.
The veneration of deities has been a customary practice of humans for millennia. The first notable occurrence may have occurred around burial sites of the primitive Neanderthals and Homo-erectus. However, these ceremonies, if they can be called that, were more a prehistoric curiosity of life and death, rather than a deistic acknowledgment of an omnipotent god, or demon. It is also interesting to note, god worship becomes more developed in pursuance to the advancement of a civilization. This scrutiny can be attested in how synagogues, churches and mosques proliferate as civilizations grow. That is, the more prosperous a country becomes, the more they are disposed towards reverencing a deity greater than themselves. Take note of the
The Milesian system was structured originally on six tribes, but when they changed to a more democratic system under Athenian influence they changed over to 12 tribes. It is highly probable that they submitted their candidates for offices from these tribes. In order to become a citizen one had to be enrolled in these tribes. Milesian territory was broken up into 5 or 7 demes or districts. “The earliest officials mentioned in decrees of Hellenistic Miletus are the synedroi, whose status is not clear. They have been considered as either a standing committee of the city council or as an ad hoc commission created to deal with specific problems.” cg p. 67 They worked with other city officials and institutions and were possibly responsible to the assembly. In the third century there were around 75 members, which was reduced down to 10 in the late second century. However, it is hard to know how frequent and the dates that the assembly met, but it is probable that the assembly met at least once a month. It is also probable that they held special sessions that dealt with matters prescribed by the law along with the other Greece cities. It was also likely that they held the most important
Ancient Greek civilizations mentality is what got them through life by their way of thinking. Even though Greece’s geography isolated the civilizations, it allowed them to see the world by providing the civilizations with the Mediterranean Sea. The geography divided Greece up into city-states that made them strive to do better than each other, which we know today as competition. This allowed for art, politics, literature, athletics, inventions, and new ideas to come about. Greece’s dry and rocky climate allowed for the civilizations to find two cash crops known as grapes and olives. Grapes and olives is what led to Greece civilizations trading around the Mediterranean Sea. This boosted trade, allowed settlement (colonization), and allowed new ways and ideas to come about. When the Persians tried to defeat Greece, Greeks not only
There were many issues and values stressed in Classical civilizations. The main two that were focused on were expansion and integration. In all of the Classical civilizations, leaders wanted more land to increase the amount of power, crops, and innovation they could have. Another issue they stressed was integration. Social integration was stressed in order to create gender relationships and social hierarchies, while territorial integration was stressed in order to guarantee their leader had power over all of his people through a common language, common laws, and trade. Another value that was related to the previous two, was the need to discuss central values. Socrates, Confucius, and Buddha all helped by spreading culture throughout their
The earliest Greek civilization thrived around 4,000 years ago. Some of the things that they had we still use today, such as art, science, math, literature, and politics. The Greeks were known for their great intelligence, military strategies, and their architectural skills. All Greek's spoke the same language. This was done to make trade easier and to be able to communicate between different parts of the country. Even though everyone spoke the same language the Greek language had three different dialects which were Aeolic, Doric and Ionic. These three different dialects came about from the three tribes around the country. All Greeks believed in the same gods, who were a big part of their culture. The Greek government was not a monarchy

Ancient Greece is perhaps one of the most extraordinary civilizations in history as it had remarkable advancements that altered the future of the world. During the period of 600 BCE, many new concepts originated from this location, such as Homer’s Ilad and the Odyssey. These acted as resources for Greeks to learn about their gods. A significant amount of culture in conjunction with religion was also generated in this region as well, including pottery and sculptures that were created for different purposes along with the creation of the music theory. In the end, Greece possessed city states that thrived united and individually, which is seen in Sparta with its highly trained Spartans, leading to an increase in military victory.
As a result of the Greeks spreading throughout many regions following Alexander the Great’s conquests, the Hellenistic period saw old ways of thinking replaced with new ideas that reflected changes in society and the blending of diverse cultures that had now been exposed to one another. As Greek language and lifestyle swept through Egypt and West Asia, and major cultural hubs like Alexandria came to prominence, the Greek way of life had a profound effect on these distant lands, just as their own exotic customs and histories similarly affected Greek thought and culture. This, along with the changing political climate in these regions, led to a period of immense advancement in philosophical and religious discourse that would forever change the course of history and pave the way for the birth of Christianity. The three most significant catalysts for change in Hellenistic religion were the exposure of diverse cultures to one another, the vast changes in political and societal life during this period, and the shifts in philosophy and religious thought

Anthropocentric view places humans as the center of this world, where we develop the commodity economy to own the other living/ non-living matters in the world because we are superior (Waters, 2011). Our language gives no life to objects and we try to teach the children that same language (Kimmerer, 2013). However, Kimmerer (2013) proposes that humans need to learn the aboriginal language and way of knowing, where they have a gift economy to see the goods as gifts from the Earth. Meanwhile, humans establish relationships with the nature as we need to repay back with gratitude, reciprocity, and care towards the nature (Kimmerer, 2013). In addition, Kimmerer (2013) talks about listening to languages that are not our own. We are so used to listen and speak in scientific language, which creates distance and objectifies the world we are living in. Rather, we need to really listen to the other languages, which brings life and
Hey everybody, aren’t you glad that you're able to understand what I'm saying? Because without the Greco-Romans you wouldn't be able to be reading this passage of mine. All my life we have been taught the art of communication which is what this essay will be focusing on, a basic necessity for success. So in this essay I will be focusing on my passion, literature, and how that passion of mine would have been affected if not for the Romans and Greeks who got the ball of life rolling when they came up with the world's first ever writing system, so prepare to
