The pioneers of this industry are Blue Apron and Hello Fresh. These are the two most widely known meal subscription services, both net worth over $2 billion. The subscription services are very similar with differing price points. Founded near the end of 2011, Hello Fresh is the meal subscription service that is by far the most successful to date. Blue Apron, founded in 2012 is following close behind. A subscription that is also gaining a lot of traction is Plated. Even though this service was founded around the same time as Blue Apron, it is not doing as well, but the service has found its own niche.
