The day I first visited Hillsdale College will be forever immortalized in my mind. Beneath their elite academics, gorgeous campus, and prestigious reputation, this college rests upon an exceptional foundation: its students. From the welcoming smiles of such learners, to the faculty's helpful amiability, Hillsdale's atmosphere astounded me. I attended an English class where every student was listening with rapt attention. At lunch, I noticed tables saved by cell-phones left behind. All of these things caused my mother to turn to me, wide-eyed. "These people are like you!" She exclaimed. While I took this as a sacred compliment, I do see her point. The widespread love of learning I witnessed at Hillsdale, along with the schools integral spirit
Ela-Vernon East was the first name of today’s Adlai E. Stevenson High School. Ela-Vernon East was the second school in the Ela-Vernon Township High School District with district offices in Lake Zurich. Because of the growing disagreement between Ela-Vernon West and Ela-Vernon East, current Stevenson, about the direction the school should take, Adlai E. Stevenson High School was born in November 1965. The school was to open as a school for freshman and sophomores living in the area. Juniors and seniors were to continue to attend Ela-Vernon West in Lake Zurich (http://www.d125.org).
While attending Liberty Univeristy, I started out as a Business Major, but after a few accounting classes I decided to be an Accountant. Not only did I find a career path at Liberty, but I also found my life's mate. We have been married for 34 year and our proudest accomplishment in life are our three children. Nathan, recently married and lives in Wisconsin. Both are clinical pharmacists in the hospital setting. Nathan published his first article for the Pharmacy Journal which started sibling riviary. Lauren, is the Production Manager for the White House Historical Association and could't wait to tell her brother that she published two articles. We also visited the White House on several occasions. Our youngest,

I came into Norwalk Community College looking for a fresh start. I previously attended a 4 year university that became too much for me; attending school full-time, working 30 hours per week while trying to enjoy the college experience. At the cost of an “experience” I ended up failing most of my classes, putting my health at risk drowned by the tremendous amount of stress and just wanted to completely give up. Looking for a fresh start I decided to leave my University, and attend Norwalk Community College. Though this decision created self-doubt in the beginning, it soon came to my realization that it was the best decision I ever made. Immersed in an environment full of positive people, I was able to put my pieces back together.
Eisenhower High School has shaped me into the women that I am today. At first, the transfer from private to public middle school was difficult. I did not know what to expect from public schooling. Immediately, I was met with friendly faces and extraordinary teachers. When the time came for me to decide if I would attend a private high school or Eisenhower High School I didn’t hesitate on my decision. Since my first day walking through the newly renovated Eisenhower halls, I knew I had found my home for the next four years.
In the early months of 2002, Juneau-Douglas High School in Juneau Alaska, held a school-sponsored and faculty supervised event, held off of school property, to observe the Olympic Torch pass through their area. When television cameras began to turn in the direction of a group of students, they unfurled a banner with the phrase “BONG HiTS [sic] 4 JESUS”. The school principle, Deborah Morse, told the students to remove the banner and one of them named Joseph Frederick refused, compelling Morse to confiscated the banner claiming it promoted illegal drug use and suspended Frederick [1]. The school district superintendent supported Morse and permitted the suspension, stating the banner was in violation of school policy by endorsing the use of
Public school students are being put under outrageous amounts of pressure to do well on their tests and quizzes. As an A-average high school student at Pottsgrove High School, I know what it is like to waste 3-4 hours memorizing meaningless material so I can regurgitate and write on a quiz or test. Pennsylvania puts so much emphasize on learning but instead of teaching us meaningful lessons, we are taught the strategies of taking quizzes and tests. This is not promoting students to their full potential, but simply rewiring our adolescents to simply memorize and throw away.

1889, that’s when the long history of Columbia City High School starts. Columbia City High School is a very old school with very rich history, but it's time to turn over a new stone. Since this dilapidated school has reached a point when it's become of ill repair and there’s nothing more to do. The numerous problems that plague CCHS are constant. The final straw was pulled, the city has decided to build a new high school within the next three years. This is a large project that current high school students won’t be able to participate in but should still try the help as much as possible.
Trees are going up, ornaments are being hung, and presents are being placed under the tree, ready to be opened. It’s no lie that the holidays are approaching, as children make their lists for the things they want. For some, however, making a list is not a option, some families will not to be able afford new toys and gadgets for this upcoming holiday, or just everyday essentials. For some, the holidays are a struggle to get families decent gifts. At Northrop High School, students and their families live like this everyday, never being able to afford the essentials due to having little funds.
Central High School, formally known as Dunbar High School, was a very successful school established in 1947 by the Mobile Board of School commissioners. This new school served as an inner city high school to give blacks an opportunity to better themselves as well as their community. Being a wildcat during this time not only implied that you went to Central High, but that you were an individual looking to accomplish your goals to become a better version of yourself. Dr. Benjamin F. Baker, Jonathan T. Gains, and all of their staff took pride in the school, and looked to obtain mentor style relationships with all of the students.
As a high school student, I am dismayed to say that I believe much of my time has been wasted fulfilling the demands of classes that were not valuable to me. I believe it would be smart to acknowledge that students may sometimes have preexisting knowledge that is adequate for a subject and that they should be allowed to “Test Out.” All schools have required classes that any student who want to graduate must pass. I have spent countless hours filling out papers and doing busy work, all of that being time that I could’ve used to pursue my personal interests or god forbid, get some sleep. I understand that this is not the usual case but I think many of my classmates would agree that they have experienced at least one class in which they didn’t learn enough to justify an entire semester or year of sitting in a desk.
