To understand the dangers of football, I believe it is important to know the history of the sport. Versions of American football have been played for centuries, but modern day American football really began to take shape in 1878 by a man named Walter Camp (www.understanding-american-football.com).

From only college students playing the sport, to having professional teams and players be watched from all over the country. So Columbia joined, they were the third team to play college football, their first game was on November 12, 1872, when they went to Rutgers and got beat six to three. It got to the point when it was so disorganized and brutal that there were no games played in 1971. But it came back in 1872 when Columbia played Yale for the first time ever. Football has always been referred to as the beautiful game due to its simplicity and lack of pure physical punishment it is a gentleman’s game per say. Its origins however are very hard to trace back to an acceptable date or time in history. There are reason to believe that the ancient Chinese romans and English played some form of primitive football all the way back in 2nd and 3rd century BC ranging up to the 13th century. The first rules of the game were written in Cambridge, England in 1848, The proper foundation of the game was in 1863 when the FA (football association) was formed and in 1869 any handling of the ball was banned and the game had been firmly established with a set of rules some still in use today. Like in any sport the rules are slightly changed to make it a better spectacle for the fans, the one major change in football was the introduction of goal line technology which is used for on purpose only to adjudicate whether the whole of the ball has crossed the line resulting in a goal.

I have been playing football for 8 years up to date and my fantasy with the sport began ever since I first watched it on television . Seeing the tension and anxiety on the players faces the crowd showing their passion for the sport by chanting and the fast movements of the game. The players made it look so easy that I thought football will be a walk in the park but in my experience it certainly not is. Football requires certain components to excel in it which I will be talking about in detailed later on.
