Holy Spirit Assessment #3 Kayla Rodway
Q1 - Five key theme:
1- Spiritual Gifts,
Spiritual Gifts are special divine empowerments given to us through the Holy Spirit. These Gifts however are not for our own personal benefit, instead the main purpose is to equip us to be able to serve and glorify the Lord while Jesus continues His ministry though us. When we use our Spiritual Gifts to glorify the Lord we are contributing to the overall heath and growth of the church. 1 Peter 4:10-11 shows us that we have each been given a Gift by the Holy Spirit and when we use that Gift we find the strength we need to build up the Church. The Gifts of the Spirit are messages of wisdom, knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, miraculous powers, prophecy,

Mathew 22:37-39 shows us just how important Love truly is.
4- Gifts of Prophecy and Tongues
The Gifts of Prophecy and tongues are still important Gifts that the Holy Spirit uses within us today. Prophecy is a message inspired by God and used to encourage, strengthen and build up people in their faith by the Holy Spirit, 2 Peter 1:20-21. It’s a way for God to communicate to His people however we must be aware at how people translate prophesy’s because it must show the love of God, Corinthians 13:2. Acts 2:4 shows us the power of tongues and that when we are filled with the Holy Spirit we are able to connect to God on a spiritual level and communicate and worship Him. However, Paul gives the church a warning saying that it is better to prophesize in church than to speak in tongues, because if there is no one to interpret the tongues then it would introduce an element of confusion where prophecy is a more effective way to lead non-believers to God 1 Corinthians 14:24-25.
5- Orderly Worship
Throughout the Bible we see that God created the Heavens and the earth and that he was very pleased Genesis 1:1, God is not a God of disorder instead He is a God that has a purpose and plan for our lives. Order in worship reflects the character of God, it’s not just something that happens by accident. When we put time and
From Genesis 1.1-2.4a it can be discerned that God is the creator of all. He created the world and its inhabitants from a vast nothingness. The text reflects upon who God is and what His capabilities are through the act of creation. The verses allow that God is communicating with us. It is communicated what Gods will is for man and gives us a history of our beginnings. From the data provided in the verses, scientists can conclude as to the how and why the order of creation came about. For example, light was first, land second, and then plants. Light and land are needed for plats to survive. The passages allude to the fact that He and He
The Seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord.
Only Paul speaks of the gift of prophecy, in some instances as in 1 Th. 5:20 it is not clear whether the reference is to “the prophetic gift or the prophetic saying” (Friedrich).
Kathryn Kuhlman was born in Missouri on May 9, 1907 to a Methodist mother and a Baptist father. When Kathryn was at the age of fourteen, she went to a Methodist church with her mother and encountered the Holy Spirit for the first time. Kathryn recounts her testimony in a video and she said, “We were sitting there, it was time for the last song and I was holding the old fashion Methodist hymnal, whether anyone has ever been converted in that church before or since I’ll never know, but when the last song was being sung and I was holding that old fashion Methodist hymnal in my hand, I was only fourteen years of age, sometime happened to me. I cannot tell you one word the preacher said, not one. But I only know that in that moment, the Holy Spirit came upon me, I did not recognize, I did not even know there was such a thing as a holy spirit, and I began to shake. I began to tremble. So much so that I had to lay the hymnal down in the pew.” In that moment she became a believer of Christ.
Spiritual Gifts, talents, and skills: Christ gave you a spiritual gift so you could be more effective in ministry, as you and the body of Christ uses their spiritual gifts, He can minister to the universe through
Sisters of the Spirit is a collection of the personal narratives of three black women preachers of the 19th century: Jarena Lee, Zilpha Elaw, and Julia Foote. Each woman describes their progress of the soul from damnation to salvation and saw Christ's purpose in the events of their daily lives.
Now that there is sun, sky, dry land, vegetation, day and night, God goes to work creating what we today would refer to as living creatures. On day 5 God creates living creatures in the water and winged birds to fill the sky (Genesis 1:20-23). Then on day 6 God creates livestock, creatures that crawl, and all wildlife (Genesis 1:24-25). It is also day 6 of creation when God says “let us create man in Our image according to Our Likeness” (Genesis 1:26, HCSB). The words “Us” and “Our” brings to the forefront the Triune God, living in perfect harmony as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The ordering of God’s creation is perfect to not only give us humans the most beautiful playground ever imagined, it is also well thought out, orderly, and made perfectly to sustain
C. Peter Wagner (2012) defines a spiritual gift as attribute given to each member of the body of Christ, according to God’s grace to be used for the church. Every believer possesses unique God given spiritual gifts. These gifts are given to us to further His kingdom and to bring Him glory. The Biblical reference to Spiritual gifts are found in four passages: Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12:8-10; 28-30, Peter 4:9-11, and Ephesians 4:11. They are Leadership, Administration, Knowledge, Teaching, Exhortation, Faith, Wisdom, Prophecy, Discernment, Shepherding, Evangelism, Faith, Serving, Pastoring, Apostleship, Hospitality, Mercy, and Interpretation of Tongues. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:28, ESV).
The Holy Spirit comforts: John 14:16, And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Helps us in our Weakness. The Holy Spirit intercedes: Romans 8:26, in the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans. The Holy Spirit searches the deep things of God: 1 Corinthians 2:11, The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit sanctifies: Romans 15:16, to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles with the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Bears witness or testifies: Romans 8:16, The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.
The Apostle Paul reminds us that we should be diligent when we view Gods creation. Creation was designed to point us back to God. He states, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities- his eternal power and divine nature- have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20 [New International Version] This tells us that God can be known to us with only creation as a source of information. Man should treat the other parts of creation with respect if for no other reason than because God made everything to display Himself to us. Romans also tells us that we are never to worship the things God created instead of the creator God Himself (Romans 1:22-23). Creation joins us in waiting for our adoption as sons of God and the redemption of our bodies when it will be liberated from the bondage of decay (Romans 8:19-21).
Just when there’s no hope for Humanity, The Holy Spirit (the third Godhead in the trinity) sent from the father as a promise to aid humankind to inspire and empower Theophilus (The ones who loves God) to spread the “Good News” on the Salvation of Jesus Christ. The necessity of the Holy Spirit is to increase effectiveness of churches and personal testimony and become witnesses in all the Earth. In addition, it gave the disciples a power to perform miracles and healing.
In the beginning of times, written in the book of Genesis, God created the heaven and earth. He created light and darkness; sky and sea; land and vegetation stars, sun and the moon; sea creatures including fish and birds; and lastly animals and mankind. He began with his image of the man. He built him so perfectly and created a wife for him through his rib. The women became second to the man. The women is the helper of the man, to procreate and obey the man. God created the man to be the head of the house and the women to be submissive of the
The Holy Spirit had an immeasurable impact on believers and nonbelievers in the book of Acts. He brought about significant conversions of nonbelievers throughout the text, including the conversions of Saul of Tarsus and the 3000 that heard Peter preach. The Holy Spirit used conviction, repentance, and baptism for conversion in the lives of many non-believers. In the case of Saul the prosecutor, Acts 9:1-30, the Holy Spirit spoke to him while in the midst of his Christian prosecution with instructions to follow His command. Saul was eventually converted, preaching the Gospel with boldness through the Holy Spirit (Woods, 1). Likewise, the 3000 who gave ear to Peter’s speech in Acts 2:22-41 were convicted, led to repentance, and baptized. Immediately following their conviction, their hearts sought repentance and right standing with God. Afterwards, they were fully adopted in to the faith and devoted to the ministry according to verses 42-44 (Woods, 1).
The various gifts of the Holy Spirit as listed in Scripture are conveyed according to the will of the Holy Spirit to every man for the eventual purpose of the edification and building up the church body.
Also in Acts when the Apostles where filled with the Spirit they started to speak in languages.” This is absolutely important because without language we could not receive the intended message as set in motion by God.
