When homeless people are faced with these factors their they will face even worse situations. In addition, the causes and effects of homelessness are often interchangeable. This part will explain how these factors bring the effect on individual, community and society. Homelessness damages people’s possibility and capability of motivation and it can bring emotional health problems such as depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. A study reveals that 20-25% of homeless people, compared with 6% of the non-homeless, have severe mental illness. (National Coalition,2009). This situation causes even more harm for women as the researchers found homeless women are more likely to need support for mental health problems than men. (St Mungo’s ,2016). Communities are affected by homeless people in various ways. Homelessness can often have a negative impact on local communities as homeless people have to find some places to live and sleep, places where they will stay can be benches outside, behind buildings, on the street and the parks. Therefore, the brand value or image of the community can be reduced by homelessness on the street. Unfortunately, tourists or non-homeless people can feel uncomfortable or in danger when they walk by them. In addition, Public public facilities can be abused or overused by people in this situation.
