Although these machines originated in America, it is common knowledge that foreign made cars are much more reliable than any that America could create. One foreign company that creates such vehicles is Honda, a company based in Japan ("Honda Motor Co., Ltd."), and the 2004 Honda Pilot is the perfect example of a foreign car that surpasses American car company standards in its dependability, size, and pricing. The amount a person is willing to spend may prevent them from purchasing the vehicle of their dreams or spend hours at a dealership trying to haggle the price down. Car companies must keep these prices in mind to sell them to the public, marketing a car for middle class families cannot be outrageously priced or it will not sell. Honda understood this when pricing the 2004 Honda Pilot, as compared to its American counterparts. The Honda Pilot’s price ranges from $27,100.00 to $32,370.00 depending on the slightly carrying models, the most expensive containing a DVD player (AutoTrader.com). Chrysler, an American company, did not completely share Honda’s insight on the pricing of its 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The price of the Pacifica ranges from $28,845.00 to $32,300.00 depending upon the varied models. In comparison the cheapest price comes from the Honda Pilot with $27,100.00, saving the buyer $1,745. But alas the more expensive price is also the Honda Pilot with $32,370.00, although it is only $70 more than the Chrysler Pacifica. But the most expensive Honda Pilot contains a DVD player and leather seats, while the most expensive Chrysler Pacifica only contains leather seating. The Honda Pilot can withstand horrendous weather conditions for 12 years and still run as if it were brand new, while its American counterparts only last 120,000 miles before requiring significant repairs to keep it on the road. Its size makes it a great family car because it provides ample amount of room for its passengers, mostly preventing the feelings of claustrophobia during longer trips. Besides the large size of the Honda Pilot, another thing that makes it a preferable family car is the addition of a DVD player in one of the models (AutoTrader.com). Having a DVD player in a car can provide entertainment to the children, or adults, in the middle and rear of car. This entertainment is a way to make sure that the children are happy and, if they do not enjoy being in a car, distracted from the ride itself, preventing them from distracting the driver.
