The country’s history begins when the Maya Empire first colonized the area and flourished until about AD 800. (www.culturegrams.com) One of their greatest accomplishments in Honduras was the city of Copan, a city that was abandoned by the Maya people, and eventually became a colonist magnet for the area when imperialism in Spain took off. Honduras was first inhabited by Spaniards after Christopher Columbus landed on the Northern Coast of Honduras under the control of the Spanish King and Queen in 1592. Explorers such as Henry Cortez and Cristóbal de Olid explored the country and formed colonies. (nationsonline.com) Around this time imperialism began to affect the native people already there. The formation
Approximately 1 in 6 individuals are Hispanic in the United States, and the population is expected to grow to 1 in 4 by 2035 (CDC, 2015). Given that, Hispanics are the biggest minority group in the US (CDC, 2015). The leading cause of death among the Hispanic population is heart disease and cancer responsible for around 2 out of 5 deaths (CDC, 2015). According to the US average, whites are 15 years older than the Latino population, so prevention will greatly benefit the health of the Latino population (CDC, 2015).
An immigrant that is coming to the United States has the emotion and perception that draws to a country of opportunities; that will live in a country that will be friendly. However, most of the time, immigrant do not know that they are coming to live in a different culture, and because of that, they need to experience and adjustment in many ways, and an adjustment that will help them to do many things with confidence.
Not everyone is born free and equal, but everyone is made equal. Immigration across the United States has created many different perspectives and opinions over the movement. Social and political departments have created a discussion and issue for this subject. The most common or popular immigrants in the United States are Hispanics, but there is a vast migration of Asians as well. Stereotypes are created in order to censor the positive actions of each other and have created a platform that censors Asian immigrants in the immigration movement. These two cultures are created blinded influences and impacts in the United States. Anti-Immigration is rhetoric and bias
Should the US have all of Texas and California or should we not have them? The US went to war with Mexico in 1846. In this war the US wanted to have the Manifest Destiny come true, so the US fought over land which is now called Texas. After the war had been fought over Texas, the US had a little later had attempted to take more land. In which, they were successful and now we call the land they fought for part of California. The US was right for going to war with Mexico for three reasons, Manifest Destiny, there was a vote on it, and Mexico attacked first.

As a Hispanic Studies minor being able to spend a whole year in a hispanic country is a complete dream come true. Being completely immersed in the culture I fell in love with six years ago will be able to open so many doors for me in my studies of hispanic societies. This will help increase my written and oral language abilities and my knowledge of the culture. However, I think the biggest lesson I will get out of studying abroad will be the power to be more open minded. Learning about a new culture teaches one to look at situations in a different way than they are used to. This will be useful in my dream profession as a child advocate lawyer. I will have to be able to assess the problem in as many different ways as possible to decide how the
I have seen over the years that the Hispanic population in California alone has grown enormously in California let alone the United States. The federal government came up with the term Hispanic to “provide a common ground to a quite large but diverse population of people that have come to the United States from a Spanish speaking country” (Clutter & Nieto, n.d.). I have seen that Hispanic families are a very tight family and that is very important to them as a social unit. Hispanic the term “family” consist of lots of family members like: children, parents, and even extended family like cousin, grandparents, etc.
With the rise of LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) over the last few decades there has been a word circulating throughout the Latino community, and that is latinx. What does it mean and where did it come from? Latinx according to Oxford Living Dictionaries says, “a person of Latin American origin or decent (used as a gender-natural or non-binary alternative to Latino or Latina)” (Latinx | Definition of Latinx in English by Oxford Dictionaries). Understanding Latinx communities and how we can help them as Latino’s helps unify us as Latino’s and can help promote Pan-Americanism.
United States is an example of the diversity cultures, but the majority is the Hispanic culture. The Hispanic culture has been growing up so fast in this country that currently White Americans does not want them here anymore. Most of White Americans has been debatable about the theme of Hispanics because the fact that they do not speak English, get more jobs than the white people does, taking money that they should not, and think that the Hispanics are bad persons because they could be drug dealers.
