As a high achieving honor roll student, my college education has always been a priority from the time I was young. Florida has become my new home and I would love to attend a university in this wonderful state. I moved from Colorado in May of 2016 and have become more dedicated to school ever since attaining my straight A’s in high school credit classes. Academics are always on the forefront of my mind and it would be quite endearing to finally have all my hard work pay off and be granted a scholarship. I believe that no one will perceive a greater sense of prosperity from anything other than giving back to the community. I am an avid horseback rider and have been volunteering at a therapeutic riding center for children with disabilities
When becoming successful in life, I feel as if education is a factor that plays a huge role. It opens doors, which leads to a variety of available resources. I strongly believe that joining the honors college will lead me to the direction of becoming the Accountant I am destined to be. Having the ability to transform myself into a superior individual inside the classrooms has given me the confidence to challenge myself as I further my education. Advancing to the next level has always been a goal for me, and I am willing to put in the time and effort to earn my stripes.
The Honors Program student embodies the virtues of independence, academic talent, intellectual curiosity, and persistence. In a brief essay, of approximately 500 words, please tell us how your reasons for admission to the Honors Program as well as your long and short terms academic goals speak to these four virtues. In doing so, you might consider the following questions:
While in high school my GPA was below a 2.0 and that was because I was involved in many sports that I had a strong passion for. I was very driven and dedicated, that most of my free time went into trying to be the best on the softball field and on the wrestling mat in hopes of receiving a scholarship. As an athlete you only needed a 2.0 GPA to compete and at that time I did not focus too much on exceeding that standard.
I was always taught that I must work hard for everything I receive, I believe now is the time to show all I have worked for. At Gulf Coast I plan to obtain my Associate degree in Dental Hygiene. I am assiduous for this scholarship because during my years of high school I have worked hard not only in the classroom but at my job, sports, and clubs as well. Coming into high school as a Freshman I
As a candidate, I already highly possess the requirement of scholarship. I am currently ranked 8th within my grade academically and I have maintained a grade point average of 96 or higher throughout
The National Honor Society is a group whose members are known for their academic accomplishments, leadership, and integrity. This group is greatly prestigious and I am honored to be invited to apply. This group also contributes a great deal towards the community, which is something that I am interested in doing more of. Until now, I have not gone out of my way to do much service and being in this group, I would have a higher motivation to do so. I would like to experience more giving to the community because whenever I have helped others, I felt satisfactory and valuable afterward. This society would be an excellent opportunity to be a bigger part of the community.
There are many reasons as to why the Trailblazer Collegiate Academy Scholarship is necessary for my education. Simply put, my mom’s income isn’t enough to support us financially and pay for my tuition. I have a part time job to cover some of my expenses like my dual-credit but I don’t make enough to pay my school bills and save for my future. With this scholarship, I will be able to put back funds for when I graduate high school, get my bachelor’s degree, and later, my law degree.
Florida International University is an amazing school but affording it is not easy, especially due to my circumstances. My mother is a single mother of four children, me being the oldest, each child five to seven years apart. She is a certified nursing assistant and only has some college completed. My mom had to put her life on hold, sacrificing her education to take care of her children. She was not born in the United States, but in Haiti. After my aunt there is not much family that lives in the United States, instead they live in Haiti. This scholarship would be a blessing, having a positive impact on my education and life. Financially, it will help my pay for the schooling I need to accomplish my goals that I wish to pursue at Florida International University. This scholarship can really be the start to my future and my plans.
Scholarship and learning are things I strongly value in my day-to-day life. I have completed my freshman and sophomore years so far with an unweighted GPA of 3.94 and a weighted GPA of 5.57. I’ve challenged myself in various Honors and
“Don’t walk through life just playing football. Don’t walk through life just being an athlete. Athletics will fade. Character and integrity and really making an impact on someone’s life, that’s the ultimate vision, that’s the bottom goal- bottom line.” –Ray Lewis. When Mr. Lewis talked about making an impact on somebodies life that means take control do anything that will make you and that person better. He was an athlete and understood that school was a way to the top and so should you. I’m not here to debate on whether you should make an impact on some one’s life I’m here to debate that student-athlete should be on honor roll to play in games.
I am honored to submit my candidacy for consideration as one of the two recipients of the Phi Theta kappa Gold Scholarship. I believe that my excellent academic record and active involvement in Phi Theta kappa both locally and regionally makes me a good candidate for the scholarship.
As a whole were limited as of what we can do to give back to our community. With every bit of help we can have a significant impact on the rate of poverty in America. There are many ways to get citizens off the streets and into stable homes. Working with a variety of organizations can have a major impact on children, adults and veterans on rebuilding their lives over again.
I have been a proud resident of Florida for almost 12 years and would love the opportunity to use the 4-year College Plan Scholarship to further my academic pursuits. I am an active and responsible citizen and I believe I can do so much more.
