Our first Advisory Council meeting and Honors Club meeting of this academic year was on Friday, September 4th. In the Advisory Council meeting we talked about the activities we will do this year, as well as ways to reach more people such as using more social media. We also shared our ideas about what would we like the club and the program to be like by 2020.
The Honors Club Meeting happened right after the council. We had a lot of attendees from each campus. As discussed some days before the meeting in our officer meeting, we gave a brief description of each event and created posters that described each event with more detail. We also separated into groups for each campus, where we talked about the school and metro visits with goodwill, as well as the mixers.

This is three times the regular amount of volunteers we get. I am hoping that all events continue to have as many volunteers. My involvement with the club is part of my everyday life. The officers email, message, and whatsapp each other several times a day. It is nice to be part of the officers group because we rely on each other all the time. Besides organizational involvement I am also planning to attend as many honors activities as possible.
One of the strengths I bring into the club and the activities is my passion and creativity. I always have ideas that are useful to the club. I am also skilled when it comes to sales, which shows in when I talk to people about the club and the different activities.
I have to work on my memory and attention, since I am sometimes a little clueless about what is going on, and I feel that I should always know what is going on with the club. I am very lucky to have so many people to rely on, otherwise I would be
Honors College Essay: In its mission statement, the UIC Honors College is described as a community of scholars whose goal is to enrich the education experience of undergraduates and allow the faculty and students of all disciplines to interact in teaching, learning and research. Please tell us “How can you contribute to the Honors College community?” What benefits do you expect in return? (400-500 words)
During this school year, I have dedicated myself and my time to ensuring the success of the State High National Honor Society's first year by serving as club treasurer; I now hope to continue my efforts as president in my senior year. Because State High did not have an NHS chapter until the spring of last year, there existed no precedent for how the club should be run. The four other officers and I began meeting in August to make decisions regarding service projects, monthly meetings, finances, general logistics, and more. We planned the induction ceremony, including from the speeches we would deliver to the food we would serve. At the beginning of the year, I established a journal of transactions/budget for the NHS based on formal accounting
Recognition with the invitation to National Honors Society is an incredible opportunity to come across in the four years of high school. It would be an honor to become a member of National Honors Society to attain leadership qualities throughout my high school career. When I moved to Peachtree City in the 9th grade, I have stacked leadership skills and activities to help others in need that qualify to become a candidate for National Honors Society through campus involvement and community involvement. Interactions with the Mcintosh faculty and students give a chance to build leadership skills by creating friendship. Throughout my high school career, I have joined club organizations such as spanish club, where I worked together among my peers
The Honors College is, in fact, a partnership that links students from all over the world. As the inaugural class, we
Why do I want to be part of the sergeant Audie Murphy club. Since I've been in military I've been a contributor. I have always volunteered for the hard jobs, not to stand out or to be better than others but to contribute. Doing more for my country because that is why I joined. As a soldier that is what we represent the purest form of sacrifice we contribute to something larger than ourselves. I am always looking for more opportunities to keep contributing while I am in service. As a leader you can affect your team and those around you but as a group you can touch more to in better the army
Club Rush Week, which took place on the third week of school, is now behind us. And with that, most people are returning to the clubs they were in last year, while some are trying out a brand-new experience with a new club. Whether you're joining a club to put on your college application, or just because you thought it would be fun to join, because you genuinely like the topic. There's no denying that you're going to make many new friends, and have a great time. They had a great sense of variety with all the clubs per usual, with everything ranging from Red Cross and Key Club with an emphasis on volunteer work and helping others. To ACE Club and LGBTQ Club, which are both about gathering with other people to discuss their beliefs. All the way
n April 12, 2017, I had the pleasure of attending my first Student Honors Convocation on the NC A&T campus. The Student Honors Convocation is an event that recognizes honors students and students that achieved a 3.25 -4.0 grade point average. Although the event was widely promoted, mostly honors students –including me –attended the event. Majority of the general population slept in and didn’t take advantage of the opportunity that was handed to them. When I stepped into Harrison Auditorium, the first thing I heard was music. The University Wind Ensemble was on stage providing music for the event. When the program started, the Presentation of Colors and the National Anthem were presented. Afterwards, guests heard reflections from Christian
The Greenville Youth Council met Monday night, to discuss different spring community service events, but the the members seemed to be more focused the biggest events in high school prom, college acceptance letters, and graduation.
My job as a member of this club is so they don't feel alone , make sure they are on track with school and always have someone there for them . With being a member comes a responsibility of me being a role model but not a perfect one but making sure they didn't make the mistakes I did. If they learn from me , from someone they can relate
I could have chosen to do anything with my non-academic time, but this club is important to me because I have an opportunity to work towards better the environment around me through applying my engineering skills. The Earth is not ours to exploit and use, but a gift that we are keeping safe for future generations. This has always been in the forefront of my mind in my every endeavor. Through researching
Since I was a small kid, I have always been involved in extra-curricular activities, volunteering activities and sports. I have taken part in many national level and international level leadership competitions and won some of them. I have had a year of experience on becoming the vice-president of the student council in my school. Currently, I am a proud member of the National Honor Society. I believe that committing to the society is the main goal for your life and that is why you work for.
For the second co-curricular event I chose the discussion about college community, which took place on May 25th. Eight people from my first year seminar group (including me) volunteered to participate in a discussion. Normally, I would not volunteer, but being a student at LaGuardia, I learnt that being curious and taking a risk will not do any harm, it will only benefit. By satisfying that curiosity I always learn something new, meet different people, who might even have the same interests that I do. If I did not participate in that community discussion, I would’ve wondered what was that about, maybe I missed something important, and how they built the questions for their
Before I got to UBC, I went through the entire list of clubs and noted down the clubs I wanted to join. There was one club that I bolded, because I had to join it, and it was Operation Smile Club. The mission of Operation Smile is completely life changing. They are able to live lives where they are no longer ostracized, where they are able to articulate what they feel, and live healthier and happier lives overall. So far, I have been to every all-ages event the club as held and I want to be committed even stronger by becoming a part of the executive team. For the past couple of years, I have been apart of numerous I have been apart of various non-profit organizations and clubs. From my work with those clubs, I have gained significant experience
Observation: Last week, a ball dispenser was out for the children to play with. It was on the top of the shelf and “Child A” was trying to reach for it. “Do you want the ball dispenser ‘Child A’?”, I said. I took it from the shelf and put it on the floor; “Child A” sat down. I pressed the switch and the ball came out from the ball dispenser. He smiled and I said, “Oh! There it is!” as the ball rolled on the floor. He stood up walked towards the ball and picked it up. He walked back and put the ball into the ball dispenser. He stared at it for two seconds and he looked at me and said “ooh” as he raised his hands on his side. I said, “Where is it, ‘Child A’? Where did the ball go?”. I held his hand and guide it towards the switch, and pressed it. He laughed and I clapped my hands when the ball came out from the dispenser, “Yaay! You found it, ‘Child A”, I said. He imitated me and clapped his hands as well. He put the ball in again and stared at it; I kept on looking at him to see if he would press it. He kept on looking at me and on the candy dispenser while saying, “Ooh ohhh”. “Where is it, ‘Child A’? What do we have to do?”, I said. He was still looking at me and on the ball dispenser. I assisted his hands on the switch again and after three tries he did it by himself. Earlier today, children were playing with the ball dispenser as well. They were dancing whenever they hear the music it plays whenever the switch was pressed.
As I entered into the science room, the students were being given a science “dipstick” labeled “Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems”. This “dipstick” sums up the unit that the students have been working on where they created their ecosystem posters and determined which animals belong in each ecosystem. The teacher explained to the students that she calls these “dipsticks” instead of “tests” because these documents are more focused on seeing what they took away from the unit. She then read the pages of the “dipstick” so that they students could pay more attention to the science than the reading. During this time the teacher explained some background information about the students overall unit and what is needed to be taught according to the science curriculum.
