Imagine a cornerstone without house lunches. A time when we can sit with whomever and talk with who ever. We would have actual recess. But wait, we can’t have that because of houses. House lunches an awkward and annoying change. House lunches were good in theory but cause many dilemmas. For example it cuts into our recess time. Although we do get a game we can not even sit with our friends and it makes the games a lot less fun. House lunches should not be a part of Cornerstone. Now to dive deeper into this subject, one main disadvantage to house lunches is that it cuts recess time so much it is not really a recess, just a break. Recess is important because when kids get out their energy they focus way better. With house lunch people get riled
Finally, the staff members of Oak Creek High could have more time available to get done with their work. Teachers need the extra time to get organized and prepared for the next class they teach. They could go home and eat or go out to eat. Plus, they would have extra time to eat at their own pace. Everyone knows that the administrators have enough problems to deal with, so by having an open campus lunch their will be less students they have to watch over in the cafeteria during lunch hours. Just like the teachers, the administrators would also have more time to get more things done and eat their lunch.
I know there are many arguments for saying our lunch should stay short. For instance people might be worried that if we have too much time, we won't use it to be productive or to eat. Well maybe, some kids might abuse it you never know, but should a few kids ruin it for the rest of us? Also i'm not saying we should have an hour and a half lunch, i'm saying, around 45 minutes, to an hour lunch. That gives us some time to relax a little, maybe do work, and to eat our food, without choking on it. Having a longer lunch hour at the Mt. Pleasant
The importance of students being able to leave the school campus for their lunch hour is a great tool for them to learn the importance of returning to campus on time shows and also teaches responsibility on the student's behalf.
Imagine having to sit quietly every day for lunch, not permitted to speak to your co-workers, laugh with your friends, or catch up on the news with the person sitting across the table from you. Socializing over food is something we do as humans. This is not an American phenomenon, it happens all over the world, and for centuries; entire holidays are spent socializing together over meals. There are however, places that mandate silence during lunch. Surprisingly enough these places are schools, some here in Oregon! Silent lunch effects students in a negative way, by hindering an opportune time to socialize freely with peers and staff; students being made to eat in silence is additionally detrimental to the learning institution.
Numerous types of crimes can be committed if a school allows an open campus during the lunch hour. Felonies usually occur during times when people are not at home. At lunch, students can have illegal access to vulnerable houses if they choose to do so when they are wondering around in the streets. This could lead to a crime increase among a neighborhood, and cause disputes and problems. Citizens feel safe in their neighborhoods, but crime and robberies can make them feel uneasy. They would need to purchase state of the art security
Open lunches offer to provide students with skills of responsibility. If schools allow students to leave for lunch, those students are then responsible for
School lunches can me disgusting to some students. Students may have allergies that the school lunch has that day. The schools not all the time have what you would want.
HELP! I'm dying!... because school lunches are cringing! Students should be allowed to leave class during lunch hours, and be trusted to leave and return back in time for their next class. If high schools gave students this right it would teach them how to manage their time wisely and it would help them become responsible. Students who leave campus during lunch are most likely end up going to a local business to get their lunch which is both good for the students and the local businesses. Students with special food allergies could leave campus during lunch and go to their homes and get food they could actually eat and not be worried that their food could have been cross contaminated to something they're allergic to. Students who leave campus during lunch would come back energized and ready for their next classes.
The process to achieve open campus lunch benefits would involve security attendance, extension of lunch periods and student records. The students will have to go through a process to be able to continue the privilege of having open campus lunch throughout the year. The researcher will conduct a proposal to meet and talk with the Board of Education on behalf of student rights and lunch reform policy for the need of student involvement. The meeting is to consider if off campus lunch would be eligible to community high schools for productive upper class students. (Open campus, mountainvistaonline.org). Therefore, students could have a complete understanding of conduct regarding the educational rules and regulations that applies with an open campus policy. For instance, an explanation of proper designated times for lunch and departure from school grounds. An example would be the consequences of violation of policy from a student’s actions. Consequences would include a student receiving a disciplinary referral, suspension or expulsion depending on how severe the offense is. (U.S. Department of education “FERPA General Guidance for students” www2.ed.gov).
It would make the lunch ladies life easier, the volunteers who make sure the lines are straight in lunch and of course you, Principal, since there wouldn’t be as many problems caused in lunch with almost half of them out of campus. It would help the school save money on free lunch and help purchase other stuff for the school like supplies for both students and teachers. Most 11th and 12th graders are mature enough to know what is right and what is wrong, meaning they will come back once they are finished eating.
In the article about fixing school lunches is a great idea because it can help kids lose weight and getting on a better new diet. It is also a good idea because it an instructional tool to be healthy.
Most times, after lunch, kids are tired and just want to go home. This puts them in a slacking and mindless kind of mood, and makes them not want to work. If they were permitted to have a 30 of recess time immediately following their lunch, the majority of students would look forward to this intermission every day. It not only would allow time to walk, run, or play games that provide exercises, but it also allow social time for students to interact and this is highly important to middle school students. Emotionally, enjoyable social connections and exercise time with other students can rid stress among students as well. So, if there are some students with stress or anxiety it will help to alleviate such so they are better able to focus academically when returning to class. This exercise also produces chemicals in our body to help make us feel more positive and energetic. Recess would definitely improve the mood and atmosphere of our students, by making them happier and more pleasant
On a daily basis more students bring their lunch then they eat school lunches. There are few students who actually enjoy school lunches. Not many schools offer off-campus lunches, even when some students deserve it. Many teachers do not want this because they are afraid that students will be late for class.
To begin with many students do not like or want to eat the food provided by the school. This is because there is not much of a variety. The lack of choices will cause students to eat snacks or unhealthy food instead of a meal. If off-campus lunch was allowed students would have many more choices; This would make it much more likely for a student to choose a full meal. You could argue that the food at the off-campus locations are unhealthy, but at least the students would be eating full meals.
Equally important, there are lots and lots of foreign objects in food like, mold, cockroach, hair, bugs and finger nails. You can maybe have a hair in your nose and it falls into the food, or you can be cooking and a cockroach comes on the tray and into the food. When they share the food they can’t see the bug and when the kids start to eat they feel something crunchy in their mouth. That would have been nasty. Nearly, ½ (a half) of my school may like the school lunch, but I don’t. Even the new kids on the first day are shocked to see so many foreign objects in the food. Clearly, the kids and the teachers may have stomach ache and maybe it disgust the teachers so bad that they bring their own lunch.
