Alcatraz was considered inescapable. However, the final escape attempt remains a mystery involving Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers. Some think they died, while others think they lived (the focus of this article). Even though one body has been found and a paddle was discovered at Alcatraz, it is likely they survived. Reasons being that there were many sightings, potential supplies has been located elsewhere besides Alcatraz, and potential clues add up. Potential clues may occasionally be disguised as coincidences. A car was stolen on the night of the escape. Also, only one body was found out of three, and that was on the 17th, though they left on the 11th. These facts from A Daring Plan to Escape Alcatraz and Escape From Alcatraz: June

Earhart's mysterious disappearance lead to different theories. One of those theories is that the Japanese kidnapped Amelia Earhart and her navigator Noonan, holding them captive. Earhart and Noonan were making a stop on Howland island, but before they arrived they lost connection with the U.S. Coast Guard. Years later, a picture was discovered in the U.S. National Archives displaying what is supposed Earhart and Noonan near Japanese troops. Along with the two missing people in the photograph, parts of plane were behind them. An American spy took the picture. An article in:
Eventually, all of the members were captured and thrown into jail. The three oldest members were put into the same cell. After an escaped plan was created, the three members left the prison nightly to continue to sabotage Aalborg, as discussed

Although it was nearly impossible to escape Alcatraz, there were still many escape attempts over the years it was up and running, fourteen total. The first attempt was on April 27, 1936. Joe Bowers was working a job and began to climb the chain-link fence towards the edge of the island. The correctional officers ordered him to come down, but Bowers refused and was shot by one of the correctional officers. He fell over fifty feet to the ground and died from his injuries.
We will start by briefly looking into both characters’ backgrounds in order to be able to understand the reasons and circumstances that led them to escape. First, it is worth mentioning
Why is it that many Mexicans and, in particular, Sinaloenses (Mexican’s that originate from the state of sinaloa) mystify the figure of Chapo Guzman? Why a high percentage of them resented his capture and celebrated his escape? In a recent survey that was conducted by Univision, they asked Sinaloenses; "With which character would you associate el Chapo with?” and the vast majority responded with Pancho Villa. How can one forget that the organization led by this Capo has been the most important and the most dangerous country to globalize the sale of marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin? His cartel occupies at least a 30% of the drug trafficking in Mexico and "came to dominate the global market for synthetic drugs".
Then on January 5, 1970 Oakes's daughter Yvonne fell three stories in one of the abandoned building and died (Eagle). With this tragic event Oakes lost a daughter and the occupiers lost a charismatic leader. Richard Oakes left the Alcatraz movement saying "Well, you guys do what you can with it. I don't have the heart for it anymore." (Eagle).
On that night of June 1962 the Anglin brothers Clarence and John and, Frank Morris. It’s pretty obvious that that the famous Alcatraz escapees survived. There may be some persuasive arguments against that but, by looking through the evidence it seemed the fact that they survived out weighed the fact they died.
The treacherous life at Alcatraz led many men to snap. Alcatraz was a death trap for some, on an island just miles away from San Francisco, with the freezing currents of San Francisco Bay surrounding it. Over the years there had been many escape attempts, but none as mysterious as the one that Frank Morris, Allen West, and brothers Clarence and John Anglin had been plotting for months. Numerous people believe that they died during this escape “attempt,” but evidence has shown that they most likely escaped Alcatraz successfully and survived. This evidence includes no bodies were found, a lot of people have claimed to have seen them, and a family friend later shared a picture of the brothers after their escape with the
Of course, the car being stolen the same night the prisoners escaped could be a coincidence. As well on the other had the prisoners were in fact planning on stealing a car that night. Said in Alcatraz Escape June 11, 1962 by West who was planning on escaping with them.
After the three men escaped Alcatraz the FBI had a 17-year trial. How did the three men escape Alcatraz? The three men were John and Clarence Anglin, Frank Morris. There were four men total involved in the escape. Allen West was the only one that could not get out of his cell through the hole. How did the three men escaped? Frank used a clay head to put in his bed while escaping so when the guards looked at his cell they saw his (fake) head. They used spoons to dig a tunnel that took over a year. The tunnel that they dug brought them to an unused corridor. West could not make it out of his cell and was left behind. From the service corridor they climbed a ventilation shaft to reach the roof.
It took months but eventually they made a hole big enough for someone to crawl into the hole that they made. They then crawled through the ventilation shafts behind their cells to the outside, went to the shore and made a boat out of raincoats and set out towards San Francisco Bay. They escaped but they would have died because of hypothermia or drowned. Alcatraz was a federal prison for 29 years, during that time there were 14 escape attempts involving 36 men.
Attempting to escape Alcatraz without a ride was extremely difficult. The water was really cold, and it was hard to attempt swimming away without getting spotted.
