Imperialism impacted Africa and India in different ways. Some of the ways are positive. Some of the ways are negative.
Imperialism impacted Africa when the british and french took over most of it. One of the main reasons they did it was because they wanted to use the africans as slaves. This would cause cheap labor. A lot of the british/ french died of diseases because they weren't used to the diseases they had in africa. Eventually the Africans fought back, this led a huge bloody war.
Imperialism’s impact on India mirrored africa's effect by imperialism. The british invaded india because they wanted more power. They were leading through indirect power. The british payed indian soldiers to help them (like police). They called them sepoys.
Imperialism had several diverse impacts on Asia, Africa, and Europe. The pros about imperialism, was that new roads and railroads that were built connected many parts of India. The introduction of the telegraph and postal systems united many people. Discovering new agricultural methods improved farming in the west and in Africa and Asia. Schools that were built by the British educated many people. Human rights were recognized, by ending customs that threatened many humans.
The first positive impact European Imperialism had on the world is education. Before European colonization and the introduction of Western education, traditional educational systems still existed in Africa The average African child was taught basic survival skills necessary to survive in the traditional society. They were taught how to fish, trade and crafts, etc. (Education Western Africa.) Although already knew
Throughout the history of the world, imperialism has played a major role. Imperialism is one country’s complete domination of the political, economic, and social life of another country. Imperialism has many positive and negative effects. The Age of Imperialism is considered 1800 - 1914. During this time Europe became a major world leader. European countries set up colonies all over Africa, Latin America, and Asia, and encouraged their citizens to populate them. European imperialism boosted Europe’s economy, and made them a world power. Imperialization had an entirely different effect on Africa, Latin America, and Asia. People of these countries were mistreated, they lost their culture, land, and self respect. The negative effects of
British imperialism had a negative impact on the politics and economics of india because the British were running the country for their own good and not for the good of the indians. In contrast the British had customs that ultimately ended up benefiting the Indians.
Although there was some negative impact on Imperialism there were also positive thing that we're done. According to Role Of Missionaries In Colonization Of Africa Missionary opened schools and hospital for everyone. They mainly helped poor people and orphans. They also opened medical schools and trained people. Medicine was introduced to Africa during the imperialism. The British bought medicine and provided it to the people. One disease the Imperialist treated was malaria. They vaccinated people to prevent the disease.
For Britain, there was barely a negative side to imperializing in India. British citizen did not change the way they went about their day at all. Prices of goods dropped which, of course made life easy, but nobody lost sleep over the colonization. Britain’s
Imperialism had both a negative and positive impact on the people and culture of India.
Imperialism in Africa began in the late 19th century. It began when King Leopold II began the Scramble for Africa. All of the major colonial powers went after Africa. Their goal was to gain the most wealth and to have the most territory. Having more territory and claiming valuable parts of the continent was a symbol of power. Imperialism in Africa had negative and positive consequences on both the Europeans and Africans, these can be shown through human rights issues, new industry and advancements, and wealth and influence.
The driving force of imperialism in Africa would start off to help the empires grow and keep steady economic security for the future but with conflicts on the horizon to great power
Imperialism may improve lives for some people, but still made the world worse than better because there was terrible work conditions for the workers, native religions and cultures were ignored or destroyed. The workers of the factories were almost like slaves. They did not get paid almost at all and many were injured or died. The native religions were disappearing because of the powerful European countries. Along with the native religions, The languages, governments, and others were deserted or destroyed. All of Africa was changed forever and Europe did not even care about what they were doing.
Imperialism is the takeover of a weaker territory or country by a superior nation. Around the year 1858, India became a victim to British imperialism. It was a valuable colony to britain, they even called it the “jewel in the crown”. Imperialism brought many benefits and drawbacks to India.
The British forced people in Africa to be dispersed based on their culture and ethnicity. This was a significant effect of British imperialism because it completely undermined the power the original colonies had and it led to millions of deaths. Additionally, British imperialism also drained the natural resources that were indigenous and valuable to African countries. This greatly affected the African economy because they were being exploited by the British since they lost the majority of their natural resources in exchange of almost nothing. Great Britain also took control of India as colony.
You may think Imperialism is not a big deal in india. But in a matter of a fact it was a very very very big deal. British imperialism in India is the most suitable example how one nation can make use of another nation through total control for very big amounts of profit. Imperialism had a lot of effects on india and I mean a lot some and most of them were positive but there was also a little bit that happened to be negative as well.
Imperialism was unnecessary, so long as the British Empire maintained control of the world market. Once Germany, Belgium, and The United States were able to compete with the monopoly the British Empire had created, this forced the British Empire to explore new markets. It was the sudden demand for new foreign markets to adopt Imperialism as a political policy moving forward (Hobson 1). Imperial rule transformed colonies most notably in Africa, Australia, and India bringing British ideas of land, private property, and wealth. Industrialization piggybacked imperialism, laying railway tracks and cable wires across the face of the colonized civilizations. Local indigenous industries unable to compete with the British, collapsed and a consequent destruction of livelihood and community followed (Colley 3). The negative impacts of colonialism are generally given more focus than the productivity and positive
European imperialism in Africa mainly caused violent acts and suffering to the African natives but there were positive event. Before European imperialisms,
