How Did Isaac Newton Contribute To The Discovery Of Gravitational Waves

Decent Essays

Many great thinkers contributed to the recent discovery of gravitational waves. Aristotle was the first to consider gravity thinking that objects fell to the earth because it was the natural place of the object to be on the ground. Galileo decided that Aristotle’s idea needed to be tested scientifically and he discovered that objects fall with “a constant acceleration along a parabolic curve.” During the Apollo 15 mission, Galileo’s theory that all objects fall with the same speed was proved when officer David Scott held the famous feather and hammer experiment on the moon. Sir Isaac Newton famously contributed his Law of Gravity which mathematically explained gravity. Although it was mathematically explained, the physical nature of gravity
