The Treaty of Versailles is a peace treaty, where it basically punishes Germany. It makes them powerless to a point that they cannot be able to create another war. This treaty was way too harsh on the Germans. It is a fact that they were not the only ones fighting in the war, and they should not be the only one, who should be punished. Everyone must take responsibilities for their drastic decisions. All of the major countries had a role in this war, not only Germany. The Germans were stripped down of everything they had. It left Germans helplessly and made to live in poverty. In order to pay off the damages that were made, they were treated like slaves. Instead of making peace with Germany, the Treaty of Versailles was sparking another fire
The Treaty of Versailles balkanized Europe. Woodrow Wilson had the crazy theory that all the little countries would cooperate for their own defense. They did not. When Germany got powerful, it conquered the little countries one by one. They could not defend themselves from the superpower. Also, when guilt clauses and reparations are required, the people of a nation resent it. A mad man can take advantage of that resentment and have a nation follow him. He can get that nation to turn on a minority such as the Jews in the case of Germany. Also in that case, he can lead that nation in a disastrous war. The treaty also spread the crazy idea that every people should have its own homeland. Peoples that had been interspersed among others and specialized
The Treaty of Versailles was a peace agreement between the Allied powers and Germany that officially ended WWI. Nations believed that it was important to have a peaceful global discipline in order to prevent another destruction and catastrophic loss of life from happening again. The Treaty was written by the major Allies with almost no participation by the Germans. The goal was to basically develop a treaty that would punish Germany and meet the goals of the Allied powers. The Treaty demanded Germany to accept full responsibility for starting WWI, and forced Germany to pay reparations for all war damages suffered by the Allies. Even though that made Germany bitter, after months of negotiations and arguments, the Treaty of Versailles was signed
Germany lost World War I, and Germany was subject to the peace terms of the victorious Allies. It was only right that the Allies enforce peace demands, that would weaken Germany. They had just spent 4 years fighting a war, and had lost 5.5 million men to it. They wanted to make sure that such devastation didn’t happen again. The Allies, however did not have the right to enforce the harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles. 440 articles of the Treaty of Versailles were dedicated to punishing Germany. The Treaty has several other clauses that limited Germany’s economy, required provisions of land to Poland, and embarrassed the German people. The crippled economy left many Germans unemployed, and led to a Depression. The German people searched
Many could argue that the Treaty of Versailles was a great thing that happen while others would look at the whole situation that was a failure for everyone involved. Two of the main reasons that we create the treaty was to prevent Germany from getting more power sort of like to restrict them from using more power then they should have. The second reason that we created the treaty was to keep peace between everyone that was involved. For example, if the treaty wasn’t created many of the family and friends that lost someone to the war would have some much hate towards each other that might cause an uprise toward their government. That might lead to another war which no one could afford at that current time period. The treaty is something that
The Treaty of Versailles is the peace settlement that had been signed after World War One. The treaty was signed at Versailles Palace near. Many hundreds of people were involved in the process of the treaty. The Treaty outlines what could and couldn’t be done by European the countries and more specifically what German was allowed to do. Germany and its allies were not allowed to send any government represented, and had no choice but to accept whatever was decided.Germany had to accept the blame for starting
The treaty of Versailles is a major fail, it was made to act as a peace treaty but we all now know that the treaty of Versailles was a major cause that WW2 started. This treaty was made by 4 major leaders representing 4 different countries: France,UK,USA, and Italy. They decided that in order to make Germany pay for the war, punishment was needed which is exactly what France wanted.
The Treaty of Versailles was signed June 28, 1919. This treaty has lots of requirement for Germany. In spite oF Woodrow Wilson’s desire to make the world a safer place, it only provoked Germany's rage and after a bit became the motivation of World War II. Each country that was involved in the World War One is guilty for it. The Allies were as guilty as Germany.
The Treaty of Versailles caused Germany to lose 13% of its territory, 75% of its oil deposits and 26% of their coal. The size of their army and navy was also made smaller, and air forces and submarines were forbidden. The Germans also had to accept ‘war guilt’ and pay £6,000 million which can be converted to $1272 2924 802.69 in Australian Dollar (AETN UK, 2015). The Treaty of Versailles was really hard on the Germans and they were forced to accept the responsibility for starting world war one. It took the Germans 91 years to pay for ‘war guilt’ (Ryan Gibson, 2015). Being blamed for ‘war guilt’ angered heaps of the Germans and made them want to fight back, which was the cause of world war two. It also made the Germans angry because before world war one, they, the Germans, were a very powerful country and The Treaty of Versailles made them a weaker country. The Treaty of Versailles also
The Treaty of Versailles was the peace settlement between Germany and the Allies that officially ended World War I. Germany had to accept full blame and lost land that was very resourceful. Germany could only have six naval ships, they had to pay £6 600 million and restrict their army to 100 000 people. The Treaty, however, was rejected by Germans and they became angry and anti their own government. In a speech
The Treaty of Versailles, was a treaty that was passed after World War I. The treaty was in direct response to the repressions that Germany would have to face with the international community. The decisions that were made during the drafting of the treaty were made in absence of German delegates. The treaty outright blamed the German government for the cause of World War I, and even forced them to pay for damages called reparations, of 6.6 million Deutsche Marks, or converted US dollars.
Due to the above mentioned reasons, Germany was treated harshly after the WWI. France and Britain were previous rival to Germany, so they took advantage of the situation in this peace treaty. Almost everybody equally responsible for the war. Instead of blaming Germany solely for the war, treaty should have given attention to President Wilson and promote equality among all the European countries which eventually might have prevented the WWII to
The Treaty of Versailles agreed upon in 1919 set in motion events that would be direct causes of World War II. According to Robert Cowley, the treaty stripped Germany of many territories, including Eupen-Malmeacutedy, given to Belgium, Alsace-Lorraine to France, large amounts of eastern lands to Poland, the Memel region to Lithuania, and most of the Schelswig area of the Danish peninsula to Denmark. Germany lost all of her overseas colonies as well. It also forced Germany to limit their army to 100,000 men, and forbade them certain types of weapons common to modern armies. The worst part of all was that Germany was made to assume all the guilt for the war, and forced them to pay an amount of war reparations unspecified at first, then set around 33 billion gold marks(Cowley). “World War One: Treaties” says that the peace terms imposed upon the defeated countries, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Bulgaria, seemed to them to be unfair and unjust punishments.
The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty signed between Germany and the Allies. It was to stop the “war to end all wars” (Woodrow Wilson). Every country or colony entered in this war had suffered immense loss and unbelievable damage to the landscape where the battle had taken place. The Treaty was meant to finally bring peace to the world, but instead, it only let more problems arise. Worse ones that certainly had not been intended for. The Treaty of Versailles only brought peace for so long, and after twenty-one years, another devastating war had been released on the world. However, the repercussions are solely because of the Treaty of Versailles, as it put all of the costs of the war on Germany, including taking responsibility for starting it in the first place.
The Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919 was resulting in ww1 ending when Germany lost the war which the made a agreement which Germany had no choice but to agree to. The agreement was that Germany had to claim all the blame for ww2, That the German army would only be able to have 100,000 thousand men there would be no general staff; The making of any tanks, armored cars, submarines, airplanes, and poison gas was forbidden, A small number of places could make weapons and munition. All the Rhineland would be demilitarized. Another big part of the Treaty was the league of nations was assembled which was the allied powers trying to make a way of keeping peace which didn’t work. A lot of land which Germany claimed was giving back to the countries, Saar land a state of Germany was put on supervision by the league of nations. Germany also had to pay 33 Billion in civilian damage caused during ww1. Germany would not be able to pay this money
The Treaty of Versailles included a large sum of punishments for Germany. These punishments went too far because of America and the other Allies and should be changed. The new treaty should make it more fair to Germany in order to keep them from becoming angry and resentful. Changes that should be made include getting Serbia, Russia, and Germany to accept the blame for starting WWI, instead of blaming the entire war on Germany. Germany should also be able to keep their coal-fields, as there was no reason for the Allies to take the coal-fields away. The Allies also should not have taken as much away from Germany’s armies, with a depleted military it would be difficult for the country to defend itself. Lastly, the allies should watch over Germany in order to enforce the new rules.
