According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, the brain regulates your body’s basic functions; enables you to interpret and respond to everything you experience; and shapes your thoughts, emotions, and behavior. In other words your brain controls the everyday functions needed to live a normal life. There are substances that can however, interfere with these functions, they are known as drugs. Some drugs when used as prescribed by doctors can be very useful in treating certain conditions in the body. Other Illegal drugs or prescription drugs used illegally can have detrimental effects on the body, specifically the brain. Drugs, however, can alter important brain areas that are necessary for life-sustaining functions and can drive the compulsive drug abuse that marks addiction.

Drugs some use them to escape pain, others use them for pleasure, and some use them to just fit in. Either way drugs are a harmful substance that may seriously affect the body. Drugs mess with the brain in ways that we couldn’t even imagine. From destroying brain cells that help with critical thinking to destroying cells that give us the ability to feel pleasure. Drugs take the place of our natural body functions of the body. They fool receptors of the body and make it to where our bodies produce less of what we need. Over a period of time this may produce very severe consequences on the body. With all the risks involved with drugs it’s a wonder why some people use them.

Drug abuse is an illness of the brain, and it has a negative impact on the body system. It weakens the immune system making is difficult for the body to fight diseases. Drug use also affect other organs of the body which includes the heart, liver kidney and the brain. As we talked about earlier in the semester, when people abuse drugs they affect different bodily functions. The brain is one of the major organs that drugs tend to alter. We know already that the brain controls the body. It is also the place where we develop and use logic and reasoning. In addiction, we see that they lose their sense of moral and reasoning. There main focus is to supply their habit. The body becomes focus on the id, it is the pleasure principle. So,
Many psychiatric and psychoactive drugs that are available on the market, pharmaceutically or illegally, closely resemble neurotransmitters and are actually able to mimic it to the extent that it fools the receptors. Basically, these drugs hijack the neurotransmitters. Once these drugs are ingested, it enters into the brain, gets into the synapse and binds itself to the receptor. This then causes the inappropriate release of neurotransmitters and alter the breakdown and recycling of neurotransmitters or can be used to destroy particular neurotransmitters completely (Sapolsky, 2005, p. 14).
The Brain is a delicate part of human body and unnecessary drug use may cause damage to the brain. in the article “Smart and Smarter drugs” Merek kohen claims “in trying to upgrade it, you risk upsetting its intricate balance (13)” The author talks about how brains have original setting and a change in their setting will cause the brain to act differently. The drugs chemically interfere with brain’s setting. A change in the brain system can cause a permanent brain damage. When the study drug use becomes an addiction it changes the brain setting. Brain does not necessarily respond to the change that is how the brain lobs get damaged. In addition to that Dr. Arnesh says that "Smart drugs
The health issue of illegal drug users is that a lot of people using illegal drugs in the world and have medical problems. There are different types of illegal drugs that are dangerous for our health, such as heroin, ketamine, steroids, crack cocaine, opiates, and inhalants. These all are bad for our health and for society. Illegal drugs will damage brain, psychological and mental damage, heart attacks, and lung cancer. The effects on the brain are that the chemicals that affect the brain taps into the communication system and can inhibit the way neurons normally send, receive, and process information. For example, heroin is a very addictive drug of the opiate class. It is fast acting and poses many potentially serious health risks. According to one website, “Heroin may contain impurities that do not readily dissolve. It can obstacle blood vessels that lead to the brain, lungs, liver, or kidneys” (Forgoros. N. Richard 2017). The human brain is most important
Drugs are substances that can alter a person’s physical or mental state. Drugs have the ability to speed up or slow down a person’s central nervous system, cause hallucinations, and most importantly, relieve stress. There are prescription drugs that are used by people with medical conditions, but there are also others who abuse illegal drugs or prescription drugs despite the health problems that come with it. Addicts constantly deny their addiction and claim that they can stop whenever they choose, and others will even tell themselves that it is necessary to take the drugs for their own make-believe medical conditions. However, drugs and alcohol
Have you ever dealt with the effects of drug addict? A drug is a person who is addicted to drugs or alcohol, which has a psychological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body. The effects of drug use can vary depending on the person. According to “Causes and types of narcotic addiction: A Psychosocial View” in the Psychiatric Quarterly it says, “The causes of drugs stem from the manner of which you were introduced to it whether it be by abnormal curiosity, chance encounters with addicts and narcotic peddlers, or prolonged illness” (Ausubel). The effects of drugs can be have different effects on everyone differently depending if its for pleasure or for relieving pain Most of the effects of drugs occur in the brain, where it increases the level of dopamine at a specific site possibly giving the addict the pleasure they were feigning for (Robbins). As a child I didn’t know much about drugs except for what your parents and teachers at school tell you which is, “Just Say No.”
