Some of today’s most popular foods, such as potatoes, baguettes and hollandaise sauce have a story to tell in Europe’s history. Food has changed over time in Europe. Foods in Germany, France and Turkey play a huge part in their culture.
German foods and expectations have changed over time. Germany has great expectations in manners. For example, in Germany people need to have both hands on the table and no elbows. This is considered to be polite and respectful, especially in restaurants. The foods that people Germany eat changed over time, but one food that has remained the same is the potato. The potato started in Germany with King Frederick II in the 1700’s. He gave out potato seeds so that people would start growing them for themselves. This allowed them to feed themselves and live off of their own food. Potatoes now are a big part of meals and get used in many ways. During the period of 1492 to 1750, Europe experienced drastic changes during their Age of Discovery. As a result of contact and colonization, Western Europe’s economy, political, social, and military systems changed, but also maintained certain aspects that enabled them to build strong civilizations. Such changes include increased (international) trade routes, more centralized governments such as monarchies, decreased unifying influence of the Catholic Church, and increased interest in military conquest and expansion.
-The long struggle (ending in 1492) during which Spanish Christians reoccurred the Iberian peninsula from Muslim occupiers.
The development of Europe and Western Culture are highlighted by five key dates. The main four key dates and there are as follows:
In Europe, cultural movement throughout 1450-1750 brought many developments and shifts that were long lasting. Throughout this time period, many thoughts and ideas were questioned (including the church’s beliefs), and it ultimately led to radical changes that overall increased Europe’s foundation about the earth, religion, and science.
Europeans had many goals throughout the 1500s and 1600s. To achieve their goals, they deferred to the non-European culture. However, the question remains how did the Europeans accommodate themselves to Non-European culture? The European traders and missionaries would accommodate themselves by integrating into the Non-European culture, by adapting their physical appearance, by referring to the traditional practices, and through the response of the nations wants to European goods.
He enormously increased the number of kinds of foods and quantities of food by both plant and animal sources. New food crops have enabled people to live in places where they previously had only slim means of feeding themselves. Each new cargo brought new changes to the European diet, helping to improve eating and strengthening national identities with cultural foods. Some of the exotic new crops had humble beginnings; before the tomato made its way into European diets, it was a weed in the Aztec maize fields. The potatoes which hung on to Spanish ships wasn't welcomed at first either; Europeans found it unappetizing. But packing more calories per acre than any European grain, the potato eventually became the dominant food of northern Europe's working class.
The Germans brought a lot of foods that we eat today. The Germans eat a lot of whole grain breads, cheeses, sausages, mustards, and pickles (gherkins are and were very popular). They eat toast, rolls, marmalade, honey, eggs, ham , salami, and tea or coffee for breakfast. Germans eat their main meal during the day between 12 and 2 p.m. It is nothing more than a snack. The German dinner is called “Abendbrot”, meaning "evening bread". It consists of a selection of whole grain bread,
Many foods like Pastas, Pizza, Fish, Tacos; and more are from different countries. Foods came to this area because the immigrants and people that move to say Italy then bring the food over to our country.
Between 200 C.E. -1453 C.E., Western Europe changed in political stances of who stood to lead the decentralized societies and the effective institutions of the government. Though stayed the same with Christianity and working together with the Pope as political powers. While these changes and continuities are circulating around Western Europe, smaller civilizations that arose preceded with cultural borrowing from older civilizations to combine with their own and this continued on. The feud that started in 1054, was the “First Great Schism” which was the split of Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholicism. Long-distance trade continued to grow, the arise of the bubonic plague brought down trade and the Mediterranean World.
Understanding different cultures: talk about how cuisines related to culture. What’s the most popular dessert in Europe, and particularly in Italy? Which countries are affected by Europe?
Europe has changed significantly over the past 2000 year and has undergone multiple boundary shifts that are still changing. Many cultures, traditions, and languages have died out or transformed throughout history. Historians ask what makes modern-day Europe different from Europe 500 years ago and how did it become what it is currently? Europe of the 1500s would be unrecognizable to current day Europeans. Technology and medicinal advances are notable differences.
Western European people had endured a series of changes during the late medieval period. Changes can be categorized into two aspects: politically and socially. On politics, Popes were not as strong as they were due to conflicts between the state and the church. Socially, people began to live a religion- dominated life, and experienced active sexism towards women. These changes, either positive or negative, have become an undivided part of European History.
Eating food is essential for all of us, it keep us alive and also gives us enjoyment at the same time. Food can be defined as any substance that can be metabolized by an animal to give energy and build tissue. (ilearn) In ancient time, when people feel hungry, they eat. However, as human history keep developing and evolving, we have a higher standard on choosing food that we like to eat nowadays. In this paper, we are going to evaluate factors that are influencing our food habits and food culture. Those factors can be divided into two main categories, internal factors (individual preference and values) and external factors (geographical, religion, social, economic and political).
One obvious difference between Germany and China is the food habit. German tends to have cool food for breakfast, which comprises bread, cheese and cold meat like ham and salami, whereas the Chinese tend to have hot food at the beginning of the day, such as congee, which is a thick, white porridge made of rice and water.
Although they love to make jokes with you Turkish people are very nice and respectful. The Azerbaijani pretends to give you your dondurma but then snatches it from you with his big spoon and puts a little on your nose and screw with you. You get frustrated when he doesn't give it to you, but after it's just a really big joke. Now Turkey isn't just about dessert, although they have amazing immemorial Turkish desserts. Let's talk some meaty foods in Turkey. There's entrees with meat all over the world, but not like Turkey. They have lambs which are good, but even better is the Turkish kabobs you'll find them anywhere. The Dolma is the best meat entree i've ever had anywhere, honestly, it's a bit spicy, but not too spicy but just right to give it a little kick. Another amazing meal is the KoFte, its lamb that comes with their Turkish sauce it comes in a very hot plate with a lot of steam coming out of it on top is very cold yogurt with some water added to it to liquefy it more. This idea is brilliant because when you're eating a very hot thing with something right after it smooth and cold it's fascinating. There is nothing that I myself can compare to the Dolma, it is a very unique dish in Turkey. Whilst this is true, many people say, “Yo dude, New York pizza is so rad dude, its the best in the world!” There is an inquiry, did they ever have pizza where pizza
