“I do love nothing in the world so much as you..” William Shakespeare. Many mothers feel this way for their children, they show infinite love for their children and would risk their lives for them. This is not the case in William Shakespeare’s playwright, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Lady Montague and Lady Capulet do not show supportive love for their children, and they never risk anything for them. Romeo and Juliet, snuck out to express their love for each other because their mothers were too selfish to let them be together. Although each mother is selfish, weak, and unable to understand their child, Lady Capulet and Lady Montague ultimately never show strong affection for their children.

In act three, Lady Capulet does not care if Juliet is happy with her husband, she just wants Juliet to get married. An example of this is, “Marry, my child, early next Thursday morn The gallant young, and noble gentleman, The County Paris, at Saint Peter’s Church. Shall happily make thee a joyful bride.”(3.3.115) When she says it will make Juliet happy to marry Paris she is wrong because she does not know who is going to make Juliet happy. Additionally, when Juliet says she does not want to marry Paris Lady Capulet says that she can deal with her father. This is weak because Lady Capulet does not care to see if Juliet is happy she just wants what is best for her. Lady Montague is weak because she does not make an effort to talk to Romeo about anything he is doing at the time. After Romeo has slain Tybalt, Lady Montague does not talk to Romeo to comfort him or to ask him if he is ok. Also, at the end of the play, after Romeo kills himself, she does not think she has anything else to live for so she kills herself. This is weak because she could have tried to prevent this tragedy from happening. All in all, Lady Montague and Lady Capulet are weak because if they would pay more attention these terrible things will not happen to their
Do parents make teens act they way they act? The Capulet’s over parent their children. Juliet at the beginning of the play is obedient and it seems afraid and it she seems afraid of her parents. Lady Capulet does this because she wants her daughter to be proper and raised good where she knows right from wrong. Capulet is hard on Juliet for the same reason but he wants her to live her life how he wants her to live it.
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a famous play written in the mid-1950’s about forbidden love. Throughout the play Shakespeare uses the family feud between the Montague and the Capulet families to portray the message that it is not only unreasonable, but also harmful to carry anger and seek revenge to such drastic measures. However, Shakespeare did not intend for this particular play to have a happy ending for the two young lovers and their bloodlines. The family feud between the two families is at the heart of the tragedy in the play simply for the fact that without the feud, there would have been no conflict resulting in the deaths of young Romeo and Juliet.
Montague's son Romeo in the book Romeo and Juliet written by Shakespeare in the 1500’s, supports the audience with many of his strengths and weaknesses. In this story, two well-known families of Verona, the Montagues, and Capulets are in a feud against each other; however, the son of the Montague family, Romeo, and the daughter of the Capulet family, Juliet fall in love at first sight at a Capulet party. Even though Romeo is a Montague, his personality and his calm behavior persuades Capulet to let him stay at the party. After he meets Juliet, Romeo asks the friar to marry them both; even though, the friar was concerned about Romeo because of his instantly changed and unthought decisions he lets them marry each other secretly. Romeo’s commendable behavior proves a strength and his uncontrollable emotions show his weakness.
Parent-Child relationships are among one of the most complicated ones but also some of the most rewarding. The structure of the Parent-Child relationship has changed significantly over time. Parents do not treat their children the same way they did during the late 1500s. William Shakespeare’s famous play Romeo and Juliet illustrates how Parent-Child relationships were during this time and how complicated they could be. An excellent example of a complicated Parent-Child relationship in the play is Juliet’s relationship with her parents Lord and Lady Capulet. Their extremely troubled relationship is demonstrated in Act 3 Scene 5. In this paper, I will be addressing how Juliet’s complicated relationship with her parents leads to her tragic death. To do this I will analyze Juliet’s relationship with her parents by examining how Juliet’s parents treat her and how this results in a lack of communication between them. The paper will continue by looking at how this gives way to Juliet’s disobedience. It will conclude by assessing the consequences of the difficult relationship between Juliet and her parents and how it brings about her tragic death in the end. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet demonstrates the importance of a healthy Parent-Child relationship.
85-86), she says she would rather kill herself then actually marry Paris, which ultimately comes true. She can’t tell her They obviously do not care about her feelings in the matter, and are choosing not to respect them. Lord Capulet even goes as far as to threaten her in order to satisfy his need of getting her out of the house. Lady Capulet follows this as well. Selfishness’ main characteristics are “Being concerned excessively or exclusively with oneself [and] having no regard for the needs or feelings of others” (F. Diane Farth L. C. S. W). While referring to the latter, Lord and Lady Capulet exemplify this characteristic the most. It is then fair to say that Lord and Lady Capulet are selfish. The result of this selfishness leads Juliet to distance herself from everyone and by being pushed to marry someone she doesn’t love by her own parents, she then acts haphazardly in a last ditch effort in an attempt to salvage her own true love with Romeo so she can live happily ever after. By individuals recognizing the selfish tendencies of the Capulets and the results brought by it, they are able to recognize that all the play’s tragedies were a collaborative effort by all members of the

There is also a parental love for Juliet when lord Capulet is talking to Paris as he is very overprotective and wants to make sure that his daughter only gets the best. He is also trying to delay the marriage by saying it is better to wait a while.

Growing up, everyone is taught to be responsible. Responsibility comes with power and with that, consequences for every decision made must be paid for by the guilty person. Therefore, whenever there is a misfortune, who must pay the price? The perpetrator always varies depending on the situation. For instance, in the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there are so many different characters and elements that contribute to the death of the star-crossed lovers. It could even be Romeo and Juliet themselves due to their immature, teenage nature. However, the character holds the most responsibility for the couple’s death is Friar Laurence because he does not publicly announce the marriage and because he decides that his overly complicated

In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet the lovers are being kept apart by the hate their families share. While Juliet is on her balcony, she starts to express her frustration by saying “O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name, Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I’ll no longer be a Capulet”(II,ii,36-39). Juliet’s feelings are all over about Romeo and why Romeo has to be the son of her family's enemy and why she loves him. Even though Romeo is the son of her family’s enemy, she is still in love with him, she displays her love for him when she considers disowning her family to be with him. The love one has for somebody has to be so compelling in order to think about leaving their own family for that person. The two lovers soon decide if they cannot be together and live they will die together “A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life” (Prologue,6).
Throughout the plot of Romeo and Juliet, the two lovers rebel against their feuding families, choosing love above all. In the starting events of Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is portrayed as a docile adolescent, with exemplary manner. Her extreme loyalty and acquiescent demeanour towards her family is evident. This is observable when Juliet addresses her mother: “Madam, I am here, what is your will?”(I.iii.7) However, this is rapidly altered through the climax of the play, when she finds love with the son of their greatest enemy, Romeo, a Montague. Throughout Romeo and Juliet's’ romance, the two transition into defiant and unruly adults, so their love could last. In order to continue such an intimacy between the two, the only solution for the

Can a young adult take his very own life and others he loves over romance? Romeo son of the Montague was a very selfish teenager. Romeo was indeed a very romantic teenager for one specific girl Juliet. Romeo’s main problem, in fact, was that he was a very emotional teenager. This all led up to him being the main killer in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.
“When love beckons to you, follow him, though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold, you yield to him, though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.” (Kahlil Gibran,1) Shakespeare tries to show that the love between two people can lead them through even the scariest of situations. In Shakespeare’s iconic Romeo and Juliet, the love Romeo and Juliet have drives them to face their fears. Shakespeare was born in April 23, 1564. He grew up to become an English poet, actor, and playwright. He was regarded as the greatest writer in the English language. A testament of how well he wrote was his story of Romeo and Juliet. This is a tale of two star-crossed lovers that end their families feud with their deaths. In the story the love the two have for each other seems to be just, but that isn’t so. While it is good to love passionately, Romeo and Juliet not only loved passionately but also desperately. The fears of their parents, life in feuding families, and the ridicule that they would get because of what family they’ve come from were totally cat aside due to the influence their love had on them. Even though love can be an amazing thing, it can sometimes blind one from the much-needed truth.
