“Oh my gosh homework is so important, it helps you get better test scores I love it.” Well it actually isn't that important and it ruins test scores.
There was a study that proved too much homework can cause migraines and drowsiness towards school hours and I also see your point the right amount of homework and studying can make you better kinda like “practice makes perfect” but what if practice was all you did ?How much would that help you?
Something that gets brought to my attention a lot is the problems of its taking over sports and other things. Well, imagine you are about to play the biggest game of your life and then your teacher gives you 574 pages of homework and that is all you can think of it is a big distraction to home activities. It

There was a proven study by huffpo or the Huffington post that states. “homework over giving is detrimental to test scores by even 23 percent.” wow your teacher is just handing out bad grades. BUT don't get me wrong the right amount of homework is very helpful. But some teachers stretch the extent of a fair amount of homework . Homework is an all or none thing if you over give homework it is messing with your child's brain. But if you get the amount right, it can be the best thing for your child!
Homework can be a best friend or a devilish nightmare it can build your brain or break your brain. Then the biggest problem I have with homework is that it cuts into sports and it sometimes makes family problems. I know you're thinking, wow did he just say family problems. Yes because it is true, I have a personal experience with that I was doing homework in third grade and I got an answer wrong, but my dad thought it was right and mom thought it was wrong they got in a big argument and I still remember every detail to this day.It made me sad and I hope that never happens to another child so I disagree with homework and I know i'm just a kid, I don't know anything but there are many big name sources to back me
When a teacher is going through a lesson and they give homework, it shows a flaw in the teacher, in a way that they are giving extra practice because they weren’t able to do their job. In the Article, “Why I Don’t assign Homework,” Dan Meyer answers why he doesn’t give homework by saying, “By assigning whatever practice we didn’t finish to homework (“… I’d like you guys to finish this for homework …”) or by using homework to compensate for under planning (“… tell you what, I’ll let you guys start your homework early …”) I was transferring the cost of my poor teaching onto my students.” Homework shows a flaw in their teaching in either not being able to plan, or not successfully doing their job. If they were teaching correctly and efficiently there should be no reason to give out homework, by giving it out, it can show a mindset where they could not be confident in completing their
We all view the benefits of homework differently. Homework can have many effects but it’s not as helpful to everyone as one may think. It can prove to be more stressful than beneficial, can confuse you more than help you, and doesn’t 100% help standardized testing. People need to understand what homework really is and how beneficial it actually is. They need to understand that homework doesn’t always help and that it can prove to be less helpful than
Some people think homework should be banned, others say it makes you smarter. Homework has been a controversial issue for many years. When a second-grade teacher ditches homework, or when homework drives your family night apart. Some studies have shown homework can cause a family stress. Homework is harmful to
Heavy loads of homework can be shown more as harmful than good, not only for students but also for their families. As shown in Source B it says, “It is the primary arena in which children, parents and schools interact on a daily basis” (Gill and Schossman). Which I can totally disagree with from my experience, stating that every time I come from school to home, I always have to go straight to my room, turn my computer on, and either work on essays or have to search up problems for my algebra assignments, or just information for any class in general, which takes up a whole day of my life. Another reason is it is very time consuming! These homeworks are always getting in my way of either having activities after school or just time to spend with my family, which I hardly ever have a chance to do because of all the work I have, and might I also state that my mom is always worrying about my health since I usually don’t have time to eat too, also she is always asking me if I have time to read the bible with my siblings and father, which I automatically have to state I can’t because again of all this work. Another statement I have is how homework is mainly useless to our education, grabbing information from Source F, “Kids who wouldn’t dream of cheating on a test or copying a research paper think nothing of copying homework” (Chaika). Since doing homework is just such a waste for us we usually just copy it either from other people or from the internet, and since math class usually just gives a packet about what is going to be on the quiz, we end up using that to study which ends up being more helpful for the upcoming test rather than doing
I remember back in fifth grade, I had this ultimate child-daddy conversation. This conversation always went as follows, "Dad I am tired of doing homework", he then would say, "Now hard work never killed anyone", then I would say, "I know, but I don't want to be the first!". It was not until later, in my high-school years when I realized that homework is about personal advancement, not only in terms of being a student, but as being an individual transitioning from childhood to adulthood. Homework aids in that transition by reinforcing an individual to develop a strong mentality, and establish relations towards preparation for the "real-world".
Teachers forget that we have other homework too. Students get more stressed because of how much time you have to spend on homework. This affects their ability to focus on what homework is important and makes them want to give up. Doing so much homework will make students feel pressured to do homework quickly and then they will not do their best. Students already have to be in school for 8 hours, so when they get home they won’t have any breaks until they finish all their homework. This is important because students are working really hard at school so when they get home they are really
One side of the argument is that people believe that homework doesn’t help students. 4 in 10 parents say that most homework is just busy work. If you are wondering, not a single study has ever supported the folk wisdom that homework teachers good work habits or develops positive character traits such as self-discipline, responsibility or independence. Adults don’t see the pain there kids are in because of homework. The homework that the students get is driving them away from wanting to learn. The students are getting frustrated because of all the homework they have every night (Kohn).
Too much homework does nothing but add stress to parents and also to the student. As a kid in elementary school your brain is developing and starting to learn all new types of things. Homework does fall into the category of things kids are learning. “A 2007 MetLife study found that 45 percent of students 3 to 12 spend more than a hour a night doing homework.” As an elementary student you should not be spending an hour a night on homework.
To begin with, one reason why homework doesnt help students, parents, or teachers is because it is bad for health. One reason why it is bad for health is because it causes anxiety/stress. Too much homework can damage students health by making anxiety and stress, according to thecaseforandagainsthomework.com. Another reason why anxiety and stress is bad for you is because you have so much stress you go really fast on your homework and you do really bad. I have had that happen to me and it is not good. If that always happens then that could really affect your grade. Then, the last reason why anxiety and stress is bad is because, anxiety and stress is a mental thing and if you keep on having it it could damage your brain, according to the website sciencedaily.com . Having your anxiety and stress damage your brain over homework is just crazy. Another reason why homework is bad for health is because you can have anger. Having anger when you are doing homework is not good. For instance, one thing about having anger during homework is that some people can get really mad because they don´t know how to do their
There are many causes of too much homework. Some students say that they lose sleep from trying to attempt to finish all their homework. Some students say that’s when they start to give up on it they stop doing homework; that’s when they start falling behind. Instead of asking for help they just start to fall farther behind. Teachers say it there fault but how does a student do their homework if they don’t know what they are doing. Some teachers say well you should ask for help, but sometimes students don’t ask for help because they are scared or they do not know how to ask for
Did you ever go home to be pounded with homework? Is there just to much you can’t focus and do it all. Kids have sports and other activities to do too. Maybe children shouldn’t get as much homework as they do each day. Homework is proven to cause sleep problems, bad grades, and physical health problems. Studies prove that too much homework is actually not good for your health.
Stephanie Donald Pressman, psychiatrist and clinical director of the New England Center for Pediatric Psychology claims that "The data shows that homework over this level is not only not beneficial to children's grades or GPA, but there's really a plethora of evidence that it's detrimental to their attitude about school, their grades, their self-confidence, their social skills and their quality of
But for good reason. Homework takes away time from more important things, causes pressure, --heck, it causes suicides!-- it is unfair, and most importantly, it doesn’t help. Honestly, teachers, you have a choice; you can either have us be completely focused on homework and grades, missing out on a better life, or we can live a more healthy lifestyle, during which we can learn from experience, not textbooks, and maybe have a chance to make some changes in the world. It is time to decide.
In junior high school, I found myself cringing when a teacher would assign homework. Homework is a concept that everyone is very well aware of. It can have great advantages and benefits for a child by helping them develop responsibilities as well as allowing them to think more independently outside of class. But in fact, homework can actually hinder a child. It is not worth all of the stress and anxiety that it brings to children.
When a class is almost over and a teacher starts assigning homework, every student's heart drops. When students have an excess of homework, they do not do as well. Even though homework is a good tool to help teachers teach students subjects, teachers should give less homework because too much homework causes mental health issues in students and less homework helps improve test scores.
