The short sections of the story ,The Curse of the Poisoned Pretzel, is clearly proven to be a murder case out of hatred, for Haven, not actually saying Skidmore is guilty, describes Skidmore as having a shady appearance, being angered at his brother about the bubble gum he sells, and by far is jealous of Boodlebrooks.

In the story, The curse of the poisened pretzel, the author develops his point of views in many ways. He does this without actually stating that Skidmore is guilty. There are many rumors about why they think he killed his brother and this is why. One of the most promising rumors is the fact that skiddmore was extremely jelous of his older brother. The majority of the reasoning behind this is the fact that he was allergic to bubble gum and he saw his older brother flaunting it as an insult.
