The TAS sport I have chosen is hockey because I enjoy playing the sport and playing with friends. Some of the other reasons why I chose hockey are in the fitness test results in which I received good results. I have also played club and school for two years. In the fitness tests I did well in the main components needed for hockey which are endurance, agility and power. These components are ideal because you need to run for long periods of time without a break, (endurance), you have to manoeuvre around people quickly, while keeping the ball in your possession, (agility), and you have to hit the ball hard and far, (power). My fitness test results overall explain why I have been good at different sports in the past. In previous years I have
Ever since I was a child, my parents put me in various sports: soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, and cheer. Both my parents grew up playing sports and realized that being a part of team sports benefits the growth of a person’s perseverance, determination and overall personality. Not only was I an avid multi-sport athlete as a child, my four other siblings were as well. Motivated individuals have surrounded me throughout my life. They have given me a great example of what it means to succeed and persevere. Not only have I been surrounded by strong individuals I have also been able to try different sports. While it was fun being able to try different sports, I realize early on that soccer was what I wanted to pursue. Soccer showed me how to be a part of a team and never give up.
As a University of Delaware student, I will feel most comfortable with the academics and the ice hockey rink. My high school is very rigorous academically. There have been many nights where I have had a lot of homework and studying to do. Although I found it challenging, I am very organized and have become accustomed to a heavy academic workload. Therefore, I think my high school has prepared me well and I will be ready to meet the challenges at University of Delaware. When I am not hitting the books, I will be trying to hit the ice as much as I can. I have played ice hockey since I was ten years old. I love everything about the sport and have spent many hours on the ice. I had the opportunity to play in a tournament at the University of Delaware a few years ago. Although I won’t be playing Division 1 hockey, I look forward to continue skating perhaps with club or intramural level hockey.
Growing up in Los Angeles there were not very many places to play hockey but I made best. It was then, at age five we lived in Park City, Utah for a year and there was no shortage of ice rinks. My mom tells people that I knew how to skate before I could walk, I’d like to believe it’s true. Next, I started to play for many club teams and could never find the right fit. I loved where I played but I wasn’t being challenged enough. My parents and I then made the decision to move me up in divisions. Then, the sport became much more challenging. My grandpa always told me that if I wasn’t challenged, I’m not doing it
Sports have always been a passion of mine and playing on any kind of athletic team was always rewarding and enjoyable. Being an independent learning
I love hockey because you get the great feeling of when you score a goal or get an assist. I also like knowing that my team appreciates my contribution because they celebrate with me. Another reason
Why Hockey is better than Football I think that professional Hockey is better than professional Football, and i'm going to tell you why. In Hockey the playoffs are better than the Football playoffs. Hockey is more fun to watch compared to Football. And finally in Hockey the players usually have better athletic skills.
I played on teams in gymnastics, baseball, and soccer. Gymnastics really helped me with running. Baseball was a great sport for me because it helped my tennis serve, then I played 2nd base and short-stop. Soccer really helped with running and being able to change direction, I was trained as a goal keeper, sweeper and full-back.
Those are only some of the simple physical aspects of the game, there are also a lot of simple mental skills that an individual’s mind must have to just play a game of hockey. Hockey players must not only know how to shoot, skate, pass but the player must also know his position, know the rules and know where his teammates and opponents are on the ice. This might sound easier than it is but when a player combines skating, trying to hold stickhandle puck, and also keeping his head up looking for opponents and team mates, that’s a
The objective of ice hockey is to score more goals than your opponent on their goaltender. As simple as that seems, the game can be much more complicated. ”Hockey is a unique sport in the sense that you need each and every guy helping each other and pulling in the same direction to be successful. ”(Gretzky, Wayne 1961) Ice hockey is especially popular in western culture.
I am personally very excited to attend MASH next year and experience the many opportunities available for me and my peers. I am looking forward to participating in the field hockey program and the track and field program. I have very many good qualities and I am excited to bring them to the high school. I am a very good leader and have a ton of skill in it, I have great time management, I also make sure to give my very best in everything I do. Making sure to work hard is a must for me because it is a vital part of doing well in school. Through my many years of balancing school, sports, and music, I have gotten very good at distributing my time to the activities that need them the most, school being first. I think these skills I have developed will be very beneficial to me in my high school career.
Ever since elementary school, I have strived to be the best that I could be, which sparked my interest in athletics. The thought of competing against other athletes was exhilarating. From judo mats, to basketball courts, and baseball fields, I consistently played sports, but there was just something missing. Then there was the day I picked up a lacrosse stick and just knew I found my passion. I fell in love with the game and never looked back. Especially when times started to get tough, the lacrosse field became my safe haven from social anxieties. Lacrosse has, and always will be my passion. I fell in love with the game and never looked back.
As well as playing travel ice hockey I have lots of interest in almost every sport. I love playing football, soccer, basketball, floorball and especially lacrosse. My favorite hobbie to do is helping out the sled hockey
As a Canadian, hockey is something very important to me and my family. Especially the Calgary Flames. When I was younger, the Calgary Flames never made the Stanley Cup Playoffs, that was something very frustrating for all Flames fans. This all changed when Sean Monahan was drafted in 2013 and turned the franchise around. Sean was a resilient child that showed throughout his hockey career. Sean made the Calgary Flames a true playoff contender by bringing more offensive power to them than they’ve ever seen. This truly changed the Calgary Flames and how the city of Calgary and fans from all around view hockey and many kids are inspired to be as good as Sean.
Sports and Exercise have both played a large role in my life growing up as well as today. Growing up in elementary and middle school I participated in a variety of sports including soccer, basketball, baseball, swimming, and tennis. When I moved into high school I decided to focus more on my studies. I competitively played tennis, and the others I played recreationally on my free time. These last few years in college exercise has been more of a prime focus. I enjoy running a few times a week as well as lifting at the gym.
I began playing freshman year, being the leading scorer on all three teams and playing in a handful of varsity games. I then joined club teams and played futures field hockey, which is an Olympic development program for high school students. Being part of this team sparked my interest in the sports world and was one of the main reasons I want to be part of the sports industry when I graduate college. I have learned how to be patient and a leader throughout my four years on the high school team. Although we rarely win any games and many of my teammates don’t take the sport seriously, I give 200% every game. Another sport that will definitely help me was being a competitive figure skater. I skated from a very young age until till high school when I stopped to play team sports. When I used to figure skate I dreamed of making it to the Olympics on a daily basis. As I continued through the sport, I won many competitions both individually and as a team. It taught me how to be patient with myself, to be tough, strong, and determined. These traits from field hockey and figure skating both will help me later in my
