Our opinion on which event caused the Revolutionary War was Lexington and Concord. We believe this because, the British attacked the Colonist’s freedom, a fight broke out against the British and the Colonists, and many people died in the ending of the battle. The British attacked the Colonist’s freedom by entering their houses and taking their weapons. This made the Colonist mad, because taking the Colonist’s weapons is like taking their freedom of having what they want. The website, http://www.history.com says,” In April 1775, when British troops are sent to confiscate colonial weapons.” So this states why the the Colonists attacked the British, because they are taking their guns. Another reason that Lexington and Concord caused the
The American Revolution was the most important event to ever take place in this country. This war took place from 1765-1783 and involved Great Britain and the United States of America. Without this revolution, the colonies would have never gained independence from Great Britain and the United States could still be under their control. However, this revolution did not occur without a cause, early Americans fought for independence because of unfair treatment from England. There were many causes to the Revolution including high taxes, unfair laws, and even colonists being killed.
There was no one event that started the American Revolution. This paper will address the problems that lead to the start to the American Revolution. The colonists believed that they should live democratically. Britain felt that they owned the American colonies and they could use their resources in any way that they wished. The colonists did not want to live being ruled by another country. The major events that led to the American Revolution were the French and Indian War, Stamp Act, Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party and Lexington Concord.
On March 5th 1770, shots was were fired at colonists leaving 5 of them dead. The colonist were mad about the Stamp Act and were protesting. The King sent soldiers to go and maintain the colonist, this later ended up causing the boston massacre. The Boston Massacre lead to more tension for the revolutionary war. There were a lot people that could have been at fault on this day. The colonists are to blame because they were taunting the soldiers, throwing objects at the soldiers, and the colonist were upset with the stamp act.
The Revolutionary War started in April of 1775, with the battles at Lexington and Concord. This war would mark the beginnings of the United States as a nation, fighting against the most powerful fighting force at the time, the British Army and Navy. This conflict would go on for a brutal 6 years until the final British surrender at Yorktown on October 17, 1781. In the end, both sides have lost tens of thousands of men, but how did it all start? The Conflict has its star with the rising tensions between the colonists and the British crown in the aftermath of the French-Indian War in 1763. The financing of the war had caused Britain to be in heavy debt after mobilizing troops to defend colonies. To offset this debt Britain began taxing its colonies, introducing the Townshend and Stamp acts. This act of taxation would anger the 13 American colonies as this was seen as an attack against their rights and to protest this, colonist boycotted and protested, but were met with the Boston Massacre on March 5, 1770. Tensions would rise, and the Boston Tea Party would begin on December 16, 1773. This would lead to the deployment of British troops in Boston and the eventual start of the war. But after all, it may not justified. The Revolutionary war cannot be justified only by a resentment of taxes on imports and a distrust of an Empire that had only finished fighting a war to defend its colony.
The American Revolutionary War was caused by the political disagreements between Great Britain and the American colonies. Most of the Americans initially didn’t want to completely separate from England but wanted to regain the rights that Parliament had taken away from them. England made war unavoidable with its unwillingness to negotiate, heavy taxation of the colonists that violated their rights, and strict trading policies.
Historically, most historians believed the war erupted in the American colonies in 1775, Wood briefly outlined he believe the war has started a year earlier, American and British forces had been at war already. Wood did agree with the other historians that the roots of the American Revolution can be traced to the when British leaders enforce tighter imperial reins. More important, Wood believed that the conflicts at home between the governments and the colonists played a bigger role in building the frustration by to appoint when the colonies cannot handle any more. Wood was not total clear, but, it seems that Wood believed conflicts at home escalated the anger to bellowed to the point of cause causing the Colonists react faster in their willingness
On an “unremarkably clear and pleasant” day in April 19, 1775, the shot that was said to had been able to be heard around the world was fired. (A Guide to Battles) This began the battles in which we know as Lexington and Concord, and the war we know as the Glorious/American revolution. It was fought between the British whom had feared American retaliation for some time, and the American Colonies whom were tired of feeling oppressed by the British. General Thomas Gage advised his British superiors to prepare for war, but this advice was refused and when the time finally came, they were not prepared for the fight at hand. (History of AM Rev) Many events, rules, and regulations helped to lead up to the retaliation of the Americans.
The Lexington and Concord was the first battle between the British and Colonists. This battle started with a single shot called the “shot heard round the world”, but what led to this battle? Many things led up to this battle. After America was found the British wanted to settle there, and some people went because they did not like the king and his rules, so some of this anger we see in the Revolutionary War was already there. Another thing that angered the colonists was when Britain forced them to stop their expansion west, but the thing that angered them the most were the taxes that were placed on the colonists. There were also laws that the colonists that violated their
The American Revolution. An ongoing controversial topic that is the subject of many debates and historians’ studies. A war that some say was all to blame on the colonists. On the contrary to this belief, this war was to blame on the British. This is because of their irrational acts, laws, and taxes passed. These enacted rules angered many colonists as the acts, in turn, caused bankruptcy for many citizens. These unfair ordinances resulted in a series of bloodshed battles, beginning in 1765 and ending in 1783. Many of these laws provoked angry colonists leading to the war declaration. Three specific events in which the British are contributing to tensions that led to the revolution were, the Proclamation of 1763 and the stationing of British troops, the Sugar act, as well as the Stamp act.
Furthermore, the events that occurred after the Boston Massacre were probably the most instigating for the revolutionary war. The colonists became so angry that they took a boat loaded of tea and dumped it into the Boston Harbor, known as the Boston Tea Party. The Parliament in England was furious, so they passed the
It is my opinion that the one event that had the most significant role in causing the American Revolution was the Coercive/Intolerable Acts. I believe this event had the most significant role in starting the American Revolutionary War because of the following, one, the colonists were already angered by the taxes/laws/acts. Next, the acts changed the way many colonists had to live. And finally I believe that the Coercive/Intolerable Acts were unfair to the colonists and that that some of the laws and acta were not necessary.
There were many events that took place in the 1760’s and 1770’s that led to the Revolutionary war. During these years the British did many things that upset the colonists. These upset colonists would eventually get sick of all the British ways and fight for their freedom.
The American Revolution was a major war within America that got the United States their independence and showed others that they were not a weak nation. There were many causes that lead up to this war and had a great effect on it. The first war we see is the French and Indian War (1754-1763), also called the Seven Years War; this war was fought between the French and the British over territory.1 The British were defeated by the French and therefore became an ally with the Indians, bringing them into the war.2
What Caused the American Revolution? The American Revolution was one of many wars that impacted the United States. The American Revolution was caused by many other things that lead towards it. For example the French and Indian War and the British Impose New Taxes.
The irregular and disorganized British rule of the American colonies in the previous years led to the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. Most Americans did not originally want to separate from mother England. They wanted to stay loyal to the crown. England’s unwillingness to compromise, mismanagement of the colonies, heavy taxation of the colonists that violated their rights, the distractions of foreign affairs and politics in England and the strict trading policies that England tried to enforce together made the revolution inevitable. The British were definitely expected to win the dispute because they significantly over powered the Colonists in most areas. They had more money, weapons, people, etc. However the American’s prevailed with
