When it comes to superheroes, most of them have costumes, nickname, and certain powers that make them unique. The Google definitions of the term “superhero” is “fictional characters with superhuman powers.” In today’s world, there are superheroes who do not have superhuman abilities but use human materials to fight crime. Are those with natural abilities denied the title of a “superhero?”

‘The Incredibles’ is an animated Pixar movie that focuses on two of Metroville’s superheroes who are married-- Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl (add more) The government creates a law stating that ALL superpower activities are prohibited. Consequently, they are obligated to conform to a “normal life” in their society and wind up assimilating to suburban life with their children Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack. After 15 years of living as a civilian and insurance claims specialist, Mr. Incredible decides to take advantage of the opportunity to live the life of a superhero proposed by a mysterious informant. However, it turns out to be a set-up by an adversary who once idolized him in his years as an adolescent. It’s up to his family to save him and the world from any danger that stands before them. In the movie, there are numerous ways the characters are portrayed as based on their ethnicity and power. The film ‘The Incredibles’ depict and display societal issues through the family’s inherited super powers, stereotypes in the movie, and what society defines a hero as.

Marvel versus DC is a debate that has been reignited with the launch of multiple movies featuring heroes from each universe. Each universe has its own heroes and villains. The subject of this paper is to determine which would be the safer universe. While DC and Marvel both have many characters, only some of the characters in each universe have god-like abilities. Certain characters from the Marvel and DC universe have the ability to end all life in the solar system, galaxy and possibly the universe.

The Incredibles is a film about heroism. Walt Disney Pictures released The Incredibles in 2006. The film is about a superhero family who all have super powers. The government of Municiberg are rolling out a new program which is “relocation of super hero’s” this is because the town of Municiberg are sick of super hero’s always beaning there to save them when something is wrong. The family The Incredibles are finding it extremely hard to stop using their super powers, but are trying very hard to stop. There super powers are Elasta Girls whop can stretch as far as she can, Mr Incredible who can do everything, violet who can be invisible and dash that can run very fast that no one can keep up with him.

The Reed family evidently still carries this grudge against Jane’s side of the family, as they all treat her as part of a lower class that is unworthy to live with them or be associated with them in any way.

America’s current socio-political events and values are reflected through the film industry’s portrayal of superheroes. Annika Hagley writes a very convincing argument regarding this theory in her article “America’s need for superheroes has lead to the rise of Donald Trump.” Post 9/11, it has become increasing clear that the issues and values held dear to most Americans are now being portrayed on the big screen. Fighting back at the “enemy” and uniting as one are some of the messages in the background of superhero films released after the attacks on the twin towers. Today, the USA is more divided; just like the superheroes that have been on the silver screen in recent months. In continuation, America’s allowances for overly violent superheroes and everything said superheroes stand for, are simply just reflections of their own socio-political views and values. It is this allowance that has lead to the rise of Donald Trump.

Subsequently, while most superhero plots involve an element of fantasy, the characters in Moore’s graphic novel are, for the most part, embedded into pessimistic version of reality with only lifelike traits. While Superman has his Metropolis and Batman has his Gotham City, the six costumed adventurers are based in New York City, or more accurately, a filthy parody of it. The universe in which Moore sets his story is the closest to reality, with a hyperbolic emphasis on the evil in society, in which superheroes have been set it. Hence, the problems presented to the superheroes are not something to be combatted with fantastical talents, but more nuanced with realistic obstacles without a clear solution. In Watchmen, the imminent threat of nuclear war is a state of affairs that would have been realistic for readers, particularly during the time period of the graphic novel’s release in 1987. Remove Walton from the story and no audience remains for the important lines; the wider implications of the scientific experiment fail to affect the viewer. In The Incredibles there are numerous ways to analyze the film's meaning through different lenses however one lens that stands out from the others and reoccurs throughout the movie is the social power lens. While observing the film through this lens the audience can see that society finds different ways to award common people for generic achievements, but chooses to discourage uniqueness. After Dash is picked up from getting in trouble at school Helen explains to Dash, "The world just wants us to fit in, and to fit in we just gotta be like everyone else." Marvel vs. DC comics is a battle that began in the early 90’s and has never ceased since. Both gaining an abundant amount of recognition from fans worldwide. From little toddlers to fully grown adults, the numbers continue to spread like wildfire. However, what are the major similarities and differences between both comics? The similarity is that, both incorporated all heroes in one setting, attempted to focus on different genres that disregarded superheroes, and started developing heroes again by adding more personal issues to the comics. For differences, Marvel was set on real world locations while those in DC were more fictional and Marvel heroes developed powers overtime while those in DC were originally born with abilities. These reasoning’s stated above, depict crucial differences between both companies while also providing their similarities which fuse them together.

Coogan states that a “superhero” is an individual that exemplifies the three main characteristics mission, power and identity. A unique superhero must have a mission that involves the main motive to save civilians without there being any personal gain from this experience. Coogan states that without this personal mission that this “superhero” would just be a ordinary person that would be an extremely helpful in the event of a dilemma. A unique superhero must posses these extraordinary but mystical powers that reflect their human identity or personality. These powers have been greatly exaggerated
