Children within the United States who are being trafficked are part of what is called, domestic minor sex trafficking. These adolescents are citizens who have been forced, coerced, or misled to become a part of the commercial sex industry. Some of the most common ways to force minors into trafficking is through exotic dancing also known as stripping, brothels, porn, escorting, and massage services just to name a few (Minor Domestic Sex Trafficking). It is disturbing to know that there are children who are going through this. In order to create prevention and intervention programs for trafficking, it is important to understand what a sex trafficker is and the strategies they use to recruit children.

Human trafficking is one of the many faces of organized crime. Human trafficking is a broad term which contains trafficking for the purpose of sex along with the exploitation of labor. Currently, there are 20.9 million victims of sex slavery (Stacy.j.cecchet 2014 482) whom have or are suffering suffer inhumane circumstances and consequences. Sex trafficking is one of the largest criminal activities in the world (Stacy 249). Vulnerable women and children are taken advantage of and thrown into sex slavery, yet there is no explanation available as to how women and children are taken and thrown into the industry within countries such as Canada and the United States of America (482 Stacy j Cecchet 2014), which have human rights protection. Sex slavery leaves everlasting mental and physical effects on the abused women and children being trafficked. Even though sex trafficking is a crime it is also, for a lack of better words, an industry which would cease to exist if it was not for the supply and demand for women and children.

The main cause for sex trafficking in Russia is immigration and bad economy. The main cause to any crime is bad economy. For example if there is food shortage anywhere, people turn to theft and stealing. Human trafficking is a great source of profit. Bad economy leads to people commit horrific crimes to make money and support themselves through the harsh economy. “Human trafficking does not exist solely because many people who are vulnerable to exploitation. This article provided an overview of relevant issues surrounding contemporary sex trafficking, including risk factors. The article estimates that 600,000 to 800,000 men, women, and child are sex trafficked every year. It also explains three main factors that play into sex trafficking: human rights, migration, and security. This article exemplifies women’s lack of agency in relation to their bodies. Although there are male sex workers, there are many more female workers, further exploiting women’s sexuality. This aids in the fear women grow up and live with; the fear of being sold.

This crime can potentially affect a large number of men and boys,who are put into forced labor. Women and children on the other hand, are generally subjected to sex trafficking. This atrocity continues in a vicious circle year after year with Azerbaijan being a source country as well as a destination country and, a country that permits transporting the victims as well. Due to advanced technology, it has acquired new course. It has become a complex phenomenon involving multiple stakeholders at commercial as well as institutional level. Child pornography can be described as the same thing as prostitution but in this situation, children are being photographed and filmed doing sexual things against their will. After the photographers and film makers are satisfied with their work the then, proceed to send it to paying clients and post it on the internet for all to see for a small price. Not only are young girls trafficked but also young boys. Child sex trafficking is highly a major issue because of how victims are targeted, how it effects a child and their life and there are certain signs to look for to notice if a child is being trafficked.

Child sex trafficking is the second most lucrative crime business around the world. It is second only to the business of narcotics trafficking. (3 The CNN Freedom Project) Education on the topic is crucial in order to develop a local, as well as a global, solution in the fight to save children from this heinous act upon their innocence. It is necessary to understand how children get introduced and pulled into this way of life, ways the children are exploited, and what's being done to stop these horrific crimes against the children.
