Humorous Wedding Speech: The Dapper Man

I’m currently sitting in my room thinking about how great these two weeks with you were. Thank you so much for all the memories and fun times. I will always hold them very close to me. My god, it has only been a couple hours since you left and I already miss you so much. You have made me immensely happy, I cannot express that enough. I only hope to make you as happy as you make me. I know we are both still young, but no matter what happens or where life takes us, I know for a fact that I will always love you. You have taught me so much and I will forever be grateful for that.

I stood there in anticipation, speech in hand, facing the crowd. Then, I ripped apart the speech, but I had no worries about the paper. After all, I had already memorized the whole speech. At that moment, my goal was to inspire people with my speech. I had never thought I would be able to stand there in the gaze of a giant audience.

"All Rise," Mistress Meryl announced after the Royals had been seated and ready to proceed. Assuredly, I gracefully walked into the room and proceeded to shake hands with the judges. I then took my place in the center of the stage to begin my speech. I started with a striking catch phrase “Today I am going to tell you about an important date of mine……” Much to the judge’s relief they soon learned I was not talking about a date with a guy, but my first day of volunteering in my community. One judge appreciated my since of humor, however the other two judges remained solemn throughout the presentation. At the conclusion of my speech, I paused, smiled and exited the room. When it was brought to my attention that I was selected to give a speech, I freaked out. Throughout my four years of high school, and most definitely before that, I have loathed all of the moments where I had to speak in front of others. I could never seem to make those butterflies in my stomach dissipate and I would zoom through my presentation. This transpired whenever I presented, and, as my former English teacher Ms. Keisha Tooks-Riley put it, I would always ‘take that L.’ However, standing here, I hope to turn that L into a W today.

Later that day, we all gathered at the chamber, some of us were apprehensive to be on the stage to present our speeches. All too fast it was my turn and I got to say that I actually did a great job. I was a nervous wreck but managed to present my case with a calmness in my voice. I could feel everyone’s eyes on me as they listen carefully to what I had to say. Surprisingly, I didn’t fail, though I didn’t get to say all of what I had on my paper since there was a time limit. I still ended at a good part, it even sounded like it was supposed to be the end of my speech.
