In this rhetorical analysis I will be describing and analyzing the magazine visual advertisement that I have chosen. I choose the Pepsi-Cola advertisement, because who does like Pepsi? Well many do not enjoy Pepsi, but they might enjoy
Many businesses and organization use the method of advertisement to sell their products. Ads enhance products and encourage the audience to buy its products. There are many strategies in which influence how successful an ad can sell its product. In this essay, I will be conducting a rhetoric analysis on a chip advertisement created by Popchips. This essay should identify the audience the ad is trying to reach; the message the ad delivers; and the three modes of persuasion (ethos, logos, and pathos) that are used in this ad. For reference, this ad can be found at the end of this essay.
The book “The Hunger Games” was written by Suzanne Collins and it’s the first book out of the trilogy she has written. Collins uses a mixture of modern and classical as elements in this story and it allows for any age reader to enjoy it. Some the literary devices she uses in the book are setting, symbolism, and themes. It’s everything you could want in a book because it has a little bit of each genre, like action, romance, comedy, and even mystery. This book will have you sitting at the edge of your seat on minute and then grabbing for a tissue the next. When reading this book, “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins and looking at the setting, symbolism, and theme it’s easy to sense the different tones and emotions going on in the story.
The task of choosing an advertisement and analyzing it was very troublesome for me. I struggled since the beginning of this project and did not end up getting the result that I was expecting. The problem with my first paper that I struggled with the most was the fact that I focused more on describing and summarizing the ad rather than focusing on how visual rhetoric affects societal views through the use of advertisements. I believe that in my introduction I expanded a lot more on the how and the explanation of visual rhetoric and rhetorical appeals. In the intro, I further a lot more on some examples of the rhetorical devices and expanded on how they function. I believe that I also expanded on how they affected the ad that I was soon going to analyze. I also missed to cite my paragraphs and made big generalizations. It was more me telling my audience what I see rather than how I felt about it. I feel that in my revised paper I did a better job of showing that than before.
For my rhetorical analysis I decided to get my advertisement out of the Essence Magazine. The magazine was issued during December in the year of 2011. The advertisement is also on page 22-23. My advertisement is from well-known store called Jcpenny. In this advertisement Jcpenny is having a Christmas sale. The author of this ad uses different techniques to persuade you to buy their merchandise throughout this advertisement. By the time you finish reading this paper you will have known how the author used pathos, ethos, and logos to capture your attention.
The Hunger Games "discusses issues such as extreme poverty, hunger, repression, and the impact of war." [6] Other issues were also discussed by the novel is the struggle to defend themselves faced by the citizens of Panem in the districts and in the Hunger Games. I love movies about the fantasy, because we can imagine. The impossible becomes possible. Besides, I love horror movies, because it makes the heart beat, tense, and not easy to guess. There are many films that I like, but I really like the movie The Hunger Games saga. I strongly with the character Katniss Everdeen because he was willing to sacrifice for his brother, his family, and even strangers. Although sometimes she is tired and give up easily, but then he got into tears. He was
Advertising is everywhere, and it infringes on all areas of our life. Whether it be through commercials, billboards, magazines, or social media ads, we are all subjected to some type of advertising. Commercials are a very powerful form of advertising; the short clips are capable of making a viewer think what they want them to think, desire to have what they want them to have, and believe what they want them to believe. To fully understand a commercial, you have to see all of its aspects. There is a multitude of different aspects that go into making a commercial effective in terms of rhetoric. Different rhetorical strategies work together in order to create an effective and persuasive commercial and work through the visual medium.
Most people have heard of the Hunger Games, but don’t know the true meaning. People say it’s a book (or movie) about innocent people getting slaughtered. It may look like that but there is so much more depth. When authors write books, they add their perspective and beliefs. It could be about government, religion and many more controversial topics. In the Hunger Games, the author Suzanne Collins shows what she thinks about government. She does this by relating the Hunger Games to the gladiators and Ancient Roman times. Even the names of characters relate. Hunger Games may not be a sweet and innocent book, but there is a good lesson behind all the violence.
The Hunger Games is a novella based upon the idea of a new America, where people are manipulated and manipulated by a central government. In the wake of a second civil war, this dystopian society that spilt the population into 12 districts, from Careers to coal miners; the capital created the systematic idea of a “controlled freedom.” In which The Hunger Games were created to prevent the idea or action of a future rebellion. The Hunger Games- is a televised event
The story takes place in future where major war has been the issue for many years but now the country is in a time of peace. In this story Katniss is put through test and trails to prove her courage, mental toughness, decision making skills, and the love for her family and friends. The Hunger games Is a series of books, in this paper I will discuss the first book. Reading this book I immediately see a comparison to Katniss experiences and how she must overcome many tests, and that of the tests Odysseus must face in the Odyssey.
By comparing and contrasting both the novel and the movie, The Hunger Games, I have found at least three themes. In the novel, love is conveyed throughout the story more than the movie. In the movie, friendship is conveyed a bit more through the movie than the novel. And finally, survival is the vital overall theme in both the movie and novel. Even though the theme is portrayed in different ways, survival plays the biggest part in The Hunger Games.
“May the odds be ever in your favor”- Effie Trinket. The hunger games is a book written by Suzanne Collins, this book has a world of its own, the book shows two types of people the people that are in poverty and the wealthy people, there are districts 1-12 and there is the capitol the place where all the people live, the lower class citizens live in the districts.
If Peeta was never chosen from the reaping would Katniss still have won the games? Was he the reason they became victors, Peeta was the reason Katniss was loved by the people, he made her likable and too, without him she would have lost an ally. Therefor raising the question if Katniss didn’t have Peeta’s presence throughout the games would she just have given up? And too if Peeta wasn’t chosen in the Reaping who else would’ve accompanied Katniss into The Hunger Games and would they have played the same role he did. These are all important questions that come into your thoughts when thinking about this topic.
The story shows the importance of hope and doing something for the nation where the willingness to sacrifice oneself for others. It depicts the reality where it shows what is really happening or the situation of the world today. People usually watch news that is about wars or other political issues wherein the story shows as the people in the districts and Capitol watch the killings or eliminations of the participants in the hunger games. It also tackles some issues like inequality where there is the existence of power in the story as it is portrayed by the people in the Capitol, the head of the game and Snow who is the president of
I did my book report on The Hunger games, because it is suspenseful, adventurous, and has tons of action. This is about Katness, Peeta, Haymitch, Effie, and the Games.
