An additional application of automation is called home automation. Home automation works by using advanced technology to control and do the jobs that people would normally do manually ("Home automation," 2010). The best and simplest way to install home automation is while a house is still being built. However, people who have houses already built can still have home automation installed through wireless
Having a home automation can go a long way in presenting your home as ‘smart home’. This is because most people nowadays have a smart-phone with them. However, just like other technology products, home automation cost varies from most affordable to extremely high cost.
Based on the organization, development, clarity, and concepts in the article “Really Smart Homes” by John Patrick Pullen, this article would receive a 90%.
Home security systems is no longer a luxury but a necessity in todays high crime society. Burglary is a crime New Zealanders are most likely to suffer. Our solution to this problem is a smart home security application that would allow us to effectively and efficiently notify police and homeowners discretely, as well as accurately identify the stolen items. Thus, minimizing chances of a thief escaping conviction and ultimately reduce the annual burglary rate and provider safer homes.
IoT offers a platform for sensors and devices to communicate seamlessly within a smart environment and enables information sharing across platforms in a convenient manner. The recent adaptation of different wireless technologies places IoT as the next revolutionary technology by benefiting from the full opportunities offered by the Internet technology. IoT has witnessed its recent adoption in smart cities with interest in developing intelligent systems, such as smart office, smart retail, smart agriculture, smart water, smart transportation, smart healthcare, and smart energy. IoT has emerged as a new trend in the last few years, where mobile devices, transportation facilities, public facilities, and home appliances can all be used as data acquisition equipment in IoT. All surrounding electronic equipment to facilitate daily life operations, such as wristwatches, vending machines, emergency alarms, and garage doors, as well as home appliances, such as refrigerators, microwave ovens, air conditioners, and water heaters are connected to an IoT
This system also supports the use of Smart Home devices that RCR installs in its customers’ homes. Smart home devices are hardware that allows RCR customers use the Internet of Things to perform functions such as remotely turning on lights or AC units and receive automated alerts when certain this happen in the home. For example, if the garage is left open the owner can receive an alert that it was not closed. The Internet of Things is a term that is used to describe items that used the internet to perform any function.
Nest is a technology company owned by Alphabet that specializes in the home automation industry. They initially created thermostats and smoke detectors and have recently been promoting products to unify all home devices to create a “smart home.” Customers have the option to purchase a single device or the whole system. Nest has made its technology compatible with competitors, which means that users can adopt parts of Nest even if they have already purchased devices from other companies. The market for home automation is still small with Nest selling 1.3m???? Devices in 2015, and the market as a whole are only worth about 3.6 billion. This is important considering Google purchased Nest for 3.2 billion. While the smart home market is predicted to face exponentially higher growth rates in the coming years, Nest must secure a position as a leader in the emerging industry. To do this, Nest must do the following:
This growing internetwork of “things” comprise of physical objects with the capability to communicate in new ways—with each other, with their owners or operators, with their manufacturers or with others—to make people’s lives easier and enterprises more efficient and competitive. The possible use cases for IoT are extensive and growing by the day. Already, automobiles, household appliances, biomedical devices and other purpose-built devices are processing data, communicating with each other and performing other automated tasks, such as keeping themselves updated, notifying users of potential repair issues and tracking (and potentially scheduling automatically) routine service calls. Less predictable use cases include smart utensils that help to monitor eating habits, smart socks that measure pressure to help improve running performance and a
The next significant feature that consumers of tomorrow will expect from most products is ‘technology that brings forward simplicity through automation’. Their new range of TOUCH SWITCH will do just that. Simple touch function will facilitate multiple controls in terms of room lighting and mood. The switch will also be enabled with voice control to take the interaction to a whole new

Two summers ago we were visiting with my brother, who is a master when it comes to all things electronics, in sunny Orlando at his condo. If you know Orlando in the summer, you know that it can get really heated. However, on our way back to his condo, he took out his phone and stated "I need to see what the temperature is at the house". OK? I didn't have anything that cool at my house. I had to manually set the temperature and I had to do it at home, not when I was out and about. It was then I knew I wanted my home to be as smart as that, but with a bit more features. When you are on the go as much as I am at times, you want the things that matter to you to be safe and
Technologies are getting more and more advanced day by day, as if we would never know what technologies will become by the next day morning, it grow fast and it keeps on changing. We could not deny that today’s technology changes our world and our way of living, most of the new devices that are invented are replacing the old ones, just as those phones with a physical keypad design are replaced with our new touch screen smart phone today, these changes occur rapidly. In this technology leading world, have you ever wondered, what are the next incredible devices will be invent? In this research report, I am going to introduce you, a brand new technology that were recently invented by Google, a device which is yet
The field is of developing significance because of the expanding dependence of PC frameworks in most societies. Computer frameworks now incorporate a wide assortment of "keen" gadgets, including cell phones, TVs and little gadgets as a major aspect of the Internet of Things – and systems incorporate the Internet and private information systems, as well as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and different remote system.
As a group of five students doing Electrical & Electronic Engineering, a project had to be thought of which was specific to the degree that was being studied. After much deliberation, the idea of a home automation system was agreed upon by the course leader Dr John Barker. After consulting with the course leader, it was learnt that the group had to complete one function within the household each as by doing this, a sufficient amount of work could be done over the course of the year.
The Voice-operated Android and Arduino Home automation system uses an Android based Bluetooth enabled phone for its application and the Arduino Uno as the microcontroller. The key components of this system are:
