The rising consumption rate of fossil fuels and the pollution problem associated with them has attracted a wide scale attention towards renewable energy sources. An integrated system of two or more renewable energy sources is more effective as compared to single source system in terms of cost, efficiency and reliability. Wisely selected renewable power sources help in reducing the need for fossil fuel.
Other than hydro power, many such energy sources like wind and photovoltaic energy can be used as the sole producers of power. Apart from this reason there are areas which are remote where the electricity which is being generated from the main grid cannot be transmitted due to the high cost of transmission and losses. Diesel generators are normally used to supply power to such areas where grid connection is not available [3]. However due to the usage of fuel the usage of these are not advisable as they produce pollutant gases and the price of the diesel is on the rise. The availability of renewable sources like wind, solar, hydro, etc. effectively contributes to the consideration of development of the stand-alone hybrid generation systems (HGS’s).
The system on which the work is done is standalone wind power generation system. The generation system is feeding a standalone load. As mentioned before it can be
Decentralized power production can bring immunity to largescale electrical grid failures. As wind turbines can be adapted to this use, increasing amounts of wind power will be utilized as a means to micropower generation.

Optimum use of renewable source of energy like Wind can be considered as one of the answer to rapid increase in the demand of energy worldwide. Using the current technological advancements it is commercially viable to use the wind power as a source of energy for small scale to large scale industry. All kind of renewable source are highly dependent on environmental conditions and can not be controlled fully. Due to this inherent characteristics, power generation may vary. In the
But, in the 12,700 collective years since nuclear plants have been online in this world. Chernobyl and Three Mile Island are only two major accidents in the world and although tragic these disasters demonstrates how truly rare an accident is. Wind power is a promising supplement to the current leaders coal, natural gas and nuclear. The major drawback with wind power is the storage of energy since wind power is intermittent, also the number of sites suitable for installation of wind farms. Energy independence seems hard at first to accomplish; there are no easy quick answers to our current energy crisis.
We are facing an energy crisis on Earth. Burning fossil fuels are harming the atmosphere; this global warming and affects produces chemicals that hurt our body. People are starting to think about using alternative energy. Wind power would be our first choice, because it’s clean, inexhaustible and renewable. Today, wind power is mainly used in Europe. We believed wind power would be the main source of alternative energy for world use.
Renewable energy is without a doubt the solution to the worlds energy needs. As time progress as does the technology avaiablible to us. With this advancing technology we have seen some major strides made in the area of renewable energy. As you are most likely aware the main renewable energy sources are Wind, Solar, and Hydroelectricity. With the rising awareness of the affects fossil fuels has on our environment the time to act is now. All forms of energy have their advantages and dis-advantages, however this field is constantly advancing with the times and moving forward. The purpose of this paper is to discuss hydroelectricity and how it works while also looking at the benefits as well as areas that need improvement. Additionally discussed is the use of Solar-hydro power plants and its pro’s and con’s. Is hydroelectric power the best answer to the world’s energy needs, and are hybrid power plants a better option?
Bilen et al., (2008:1531) predicted that global energy consumption will account for around 85% of the increase in world primary demand over 2002– 2030. The increasing of global energy demand happens the global stock of fossil fuel resources may be adequate for short term period, thus requiring the development of renewable energy sources, which would not decrease the stock of fossil fuel resources available for future generation. There is an increasing interest in the development of renewable energies such as biofuel and wind power, which have a great potential energy to produce enough power for the world’s population demand.
Energy that can be re-used or re-grown in a shorter period of time than, for example, a fossil fuel, is the simplest way of defining renewable energy. It is considered very eco-friendly as energy from resources such as oceans, the sun and the wind contribute very little to pollution overall when producing energy. The energy problem which we are faced with today is critical and governments, scientists and environmentalist continue to search for various solutions which will alleviate the issue. In this paper, the causes of the energy problems that exist will be explained. This paper will also include a balanced discussion on the ways in which renewable energy could be the solutions
In the past decades, there has been an important argument regarding energy and its sources. Energy resources are classified into two groups: renewable and non-renewable. Although renewable sources have not yet been exploited to their maximum, their use has been increasing since the 1960’s. The main renewable energy sources are Wind, Geothermal, and Solar energy. Contrary to renewable sources, non-renewable sources lead in the production of electricity and other forms of energy. For non-renewable sources, Fossil fuel and Coal are the main producers of energy in many parts of the world, followed by the Nuclear energy that has increased in its used and production in the past decades. Solar and nuclear energy are possible suitors in the task
Hybrid Energy system (HRES) combines two or more renewable energy sources used together to provide increased system efficiency as well as greater balance in energy supply. It becomes popular to remote area for power generation due to advances in renewable energy technologies and subsequent rise in prices of petroleum products. Hybrid energy system is an excellent solution for electrification of remote rural areas where the grid extension is difficult and not economical. [29] Such system incorporates a combination of one or several renewable energy sources such as solar photovoltaic, wind energy, micro-hydro and may be conventional generators for backup. Hybrid energy system has found much wider dimension than individual stand-alone renewable/conventional systems for rural remote electrification. It is a known fact that the application of hybrid energy system based rural remote area electrification will offer a quick, economic and reliable answer to the rural household‘s need for power, especially, for those of light duty appliances. However, the planning of rural remote area electrification is not always easy and a proper mix can be arrived at only after a careful technical, economic, and socio-economic study of the region involved. In order to evaluate techno-economics of any hybrid energy system configuration, it is necessary to develop a proper model for optimization and simulation. A range of hybrid configurations are possible, however, the choice must suit the
Hybrid energy systems are being used in rural areas as the advances in renewable energy technology are increasing. Hybrid power consist of two or more renewable energy sources used collectively to provide efficient and balanced energy supply. If multiple energy storage devices with complementary performance characteristics are used together, the resulting hybrid system can reduce the cost of energy storage over single storage system dramatically.

Several researches have discussed the Integration and combined utilization of renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, small hydropower and their hybrid configurations. Different authors used different Technology option and approaches for a range of hybrid systems at different times, locations and different countries for determination of the optimal design of the hybrid system in terms of cost and the reliability that has become of great importance with the increasing in using of hybrid renewable energy systems, especially in remote area electrification. There have been a number of researches carried out in this regard over the last few decades.
The gap between energy consumption and energy generation is gradually increasing and has become a significant problem for both domestic and industrial applications. Furthermore, conventional energy sources, like fossil fuels, are not fulfilling the energy needs of the developing world. And, although they are still major energy sources for both the industrial and domestic sectors of the world 's economy, they are also responsible for many problem, such as environmental pollution and climate change. Alternative energy sources are essential for, and the best solution to, both decreasing the use of fossil fuels and fulfilling energy demands more healthily and cleanly. The major problem with
Abstract: Electricity is generated from the energy; we get, by the burning of fossil fuels, where the fuel can be stored and used when needed according to the immediate energy requirements. Hence it is speaking to a concentrated and stable type of energy. On the opposite side, we have some irregular types of energy, for example, wind, wave, tidal and sunlight based. These can 't be put away and must be utilized according to accessibility; generally their energy possibilities are lost. For the usage of these energy sources, there is a need to convert this energy into suitable forms for storage. For this Hydrofuel Cells are one of the best way to create and store energy as they possess many positive qualities such as renewable, environment friendly, readily available elements for electricity generation etc. Here it is discussed about the working of Hydrofuel cells, advantages and disadvantages and lots more. The paper also contributes the comparison of Hydrofuel cells with the batteries.
