1. Here at the University of Florida, I am studying Finance. However, I did not start out in the Finance field. At the beginning of my Freshman fall semester, I was enrolled as a Nuclear Engineering major. After taking Chemistry and other introductory engineering courses, I realized the science aspect of it all was not for me. I came to the conclusion that I was more interested in the math side of things so I switched to a math-related major, Finance. My aunt was a Finance major here at UF and I have always been fascinated when she talks about her career path. Finance involves a different kind of math than just algebra or calculus. Therefore, in order to reach my five-year goal, I need to experience getting involved, on and off campus. On campus, I need to join clubs such as Student Finance Group and others that will help shape me into a more well-rounded student. I also need to intern at various companies. Not only will interning look good for future endeavors due to the hands-on learning experiences, but interning will also allow me to get a better idea of what I want to do with my degree when I graduate 1. One new skill I learned from the Lynda.com video series is how to create new tables in Microsoft Word. I also learned how to format each row and column of a table. I believe this will help me in the financial field in which I am choosing to go in to because this skill will help me to organize information. Some information I may need to organize in my future career might be someone’s personal financial data for a financial statement. Tables make the information easier to read. For an individual who might not know much about financial lingo if it were in a long page of wording, tables seem to simplify confusing paragraphs of information. Tables will also be helpful to make if I need to organize data in order to give a presentation to someone. People tend to respond better when data is organized into a simple structure rather than having to read it in a letter. Also, tables can be more pleasing to the eyes and assure that important
