I have a huge choice coming up in my life. That choice is what college I will attend. Choosing the right college is extremely important so looking at a lot of options and researching them is extremely important. As of late I have had my interest sparked by Bowdoin College. I have always had Bowdoin in the back of my mind as my grandfather went there, but it was recently pushed to the front of my mind by hearing great things about it from students that are currently attending Bowdoin. So here I am today ready to dive in and research Bowdoin College to see if I can get into Bowdoin and if it would be a good fit for me. The first thing that should be found before I did any deeper is if Bowdoin offers the courses I need. I want to teach …show more content…
You are awarded the Maine State Department of Education Public School Teaching Certificate and you are certificated with the highly qualified teacher status. This status is very beneficial since it allows you to teach in any public school in the Interstate Reciprocity agreement as it allows you to get certified easily in other areas (“Interstate”). In all this education minor looks like it has some nice resources and is on par with other schools programs I have looked at. Now to look at Bowdoin 's theater minor. Looking in they have the basic courses like improv, production and performance, directing and modern drama in theory and practice. These are basic courses that I would like taking and would be the four I need for the minor besides one history course. Besides that I don’t see too much for theater due to the fact theater and dance share a lot of courses at Bowdoin which I wish they didn’t but it atleast it has the basics I need (“Spring Courses 2017”). Now to look into the history major and see what that has to offer. The first thing I noticed is the wide variety of courses they offer such as Science, Magic and Religion, Only a Game? Sports and Leisure in Europe and America, The History of History and they also offer some less out there courses like History of the Holocaust (“Spring Courses 2017). This wide variety of courses looks interesting and would give me a chance to be able to successfully teach many history
As a high school senior, I spent all year searching for a compatible college that fits my requirements. I wanted a college that is affordable, so when I graduate I am not stuck with a massive debt. I wanted a campus that is has friendly people and feels like home. Finally, the college must provide me with the right skills to start my career. With those three standards in mind, I narrowed my choices to one perfect college.
The decision making process on what college to attend can be stressful. For some, the deciding factor can be where they get the better offer for sports, such as Butler Community College, or where is closer to home, like Wichita State University. When the time comes to have this tough, and extremely long, process come into play, look at the pros and cons of the college choices and how each one can benefit life after college. What institution can you get out of as much as you put in? Which college has the degree completion plan you are wanting to pursue? These questions weighs in all incoming college students minds who strive for that goal of success that is a college degree. Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences
When people hear the word “college”, many panic inside at the thought. But, when I hear the word “college” I think about Illinois State University. In early July, I attended an Open House at ISU for my very first official college visit. As I stepped onto campus, I couldn’t but help to feel like it was my future home. Many aspects of the tour made me draw nearer to choosing this college after finishing my High School career. Illinois State University seems to fit my personality very well, has an amazing program for what I want to study, and is an outstanding campus for my academic strengths and weaknesses.
Making difficult decisions show up in life more often than realized. These choices can alter a person’s life in good and bad ways. “The Bicycle” by Jillian Horton is a story that focuses on a young talented pianist named Hannah. Throughout the story Hannah deals with the strict teachings of her Tante Rose, which leads her to make ironic decisions. Similarly, in the story “Lather and Nothing Else” by Hernando Tellez, the barber undergoes a dilemma in which he must consider his moral values before making his final decision. Both stories have a protagonist that face conflicts which lead to difficult decision making, and in the end leads the characters to discover themselves. In both stories the authors use the literary devices theme, irony
For classes that are non-transferable (skills classes), professors must have a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years’ experience in the field that directly relates to the classes to be taught.
As a Wilmington resident of seventeen years, my choice to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington is ‘without a shadow of a doubt’ an easy one. In eighth grade, I began to seriously decipher through colleges, and attempted to decide which one was meant for me. UNCW wasn’t initially my first choice, but as I got older, matured, did extensive research, and with my college years growing nearer, it became very evident that it was where I needed to be.
Many of the students, including the author either are interested in teaching or are already in teaching positons. While reviewing the other DHSc programs, the author noted that ATSU offers an additional teaching certification, Fundamentals in Education. ATSU also offers two other certifications, Leadership and Organizational Behavior and a Global Health certification. These courses consist of 12 credit hours of study and would be a welcome addition to the NSU program. This student is considering taking the education certification offered by ATSU next year.
As seniors in high school, our minds are all about graduation and what the next step in our lives are going to be. Many students plan on going to college after they graduate; however, deciding what college to go to is one of the hardest decisions most seniors have to make. I have narrowed it down to two colleges, The University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. After close examination of the factors of the history of the school, admission, tuition, campus, and academics, I decided rather then going to The University of Illinois I should attend Southern Illinois University.
I have attended my current school, City Honors in Buffalo, NY, since the 7th grade. While I cherish the education and experiences I gained during my six years there, my graduating class is very small and I feel ready to move forward, grow and utilize new opportunities. When I started my college search, I knew I wanted to attend a large, diverse university with strong academics and an energetic and enthusiastic setting.
The three colleges I have chosen to apply to are Hinds Community College Vicksburg-Warren Campus, Alcorn State University, and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. The reasons I have selected these three colleges are based on location, financially feasible and great reviews I have heard from others about their own personal experience or had a family member who attended one of these colleges. I have a handicap Uncle that I help take care of so I need to be close home in order to help my mother. I have talked with mother and a few friends about my interest and goals and I have their complete support in my endeavors. Also I received great reviews on these colleges from other people and this is how I chose the three schools that will meet my
Choosing a college as a future student is a difficult process for some. There are certain qualities that must meet every student’s needs. For example, how far away from home is it or how big of a school it is. Many colleges are more similar than most know. While differences can be found between colleges, similarities can be found between Indiana University, Bloomington (IU) and The Ohio State University (OSU).
As summer concluded the new school year approached, senior year. Not only was this year going to be full of surprises, but also stress about college planning and admission. Having moved to three different high schools I was excited to finally settle at Coppell and graduate in Texas. Even though this location was new to me I was satisfied with how well I fit in. I then decided to apply to schools around Dallas. The University of Dallas offers not only the class-size I was looking for the but also the academic standards and location I was hoping for. The university is very close to my home town as both are located in Irving. Having moved around to multiple schools within my educational career attending a local college would be essential to
Finding the right college can be stressful and time consuming. There are so many schools to choose from in the world, but everyone just wants to find that perfect fit. Analyzing both Monmouth College, along with Augustana College, helps students understand the vast differences, but also certain similarities between location, expenses, academic programs, and student life.
Upon reading “The Offer of the College” by William DeWitt, I knew Bowdoin was a special place. What appealed to me was Bowdoin’s emphasis on cooperation for the common good. At Bowdoin, the small classroom sizes allow students to share ideas and contribute to each other viewpoints. Additionally, students have professors who are devoted to their education and are open to interacting with them personally. Therefore, students are ambitious to pursue their education as they can count on their Bowdoin community for help. Bowdoin provides the education and resources to become a leader in whatever task one decides to undertake.
Once I received my results from the different colleges I have applied to, I was presented with many options. The easiest and most apparent choice my parents saw for me was to attend a university in my home state of Colorado, like the University of Colorado Boulder or Colorado State University. Both schools are excellent and open a door to different opportunities, but I want to challenge myself.
