Looking film from a values perspective, there is probably Kyle merits an explaination from IBIS Corportaion. Kyle takes urgent measures to get his answers when the power of the corporation political power overlooked him. Nobody appreciated him, therefore Kyle thought the only way he could be heard is if he do wrong and take Lee Gates as a hostage. Kyle however did not intend to hurt anyone. He was desperate for an answer and was left with no choice. Furthermore, shouldn't something be said about the ethics that place Kyle in this circumstance in any case? Shouldn't something be said about genuineness? Shouldn't something be said about trustworthiness? At that point there is the Money Monster appear, doling out exhortation, not considering
While conducting a therapy session in which the entire family is present, I then realize that the father is my parent’s lawyer. This now crosses the boundaries of multiple relationships. It is said that as a therapist, when this happens I am supposed to take action and follow the necessary steps to avoid confrontation or legal actions. This issue affects code 1.3 and is somewhat difficult to deal with depending on the situation. Since I know that the father was my parent’s lawyer, I must take action even if he does not recognize who I am. To protect the relationship that I have with my client, I must review the AAMFT Code of Ethics and also ask for advice from my colleague. I don’t think that I should terminate the therapeutic
The NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment is a guideline designed to help Early Childhood educators and other professionals who work in infant/toddler programs, preschools, child care centers, family child care homes, kindergarten, and primary classrooms in issues that involve young children and their families.
Establishes a framework for professional behavior and responsibilities when professional obligations conflict or ethical uncertainties arise.
The professional association that best represent my future career is NAADAC (National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors). The purpose of this organization is to help people have addiction problem. NAADAC’s members is made up of educators, counselors, and other addiction-focused health care professional.
After reading the ANA code of ethics there are various aspects that can relate back to nursing informatics. However, the main sections I would like to discuss would be; provisions two, three, seven, eight and nine.
According to Belmont, three fundamental ethical principles are essentials when conducting research with children: Ethics as protection that emphasize on respect for persons; Ethics of care that emphasize on the beneficence; and Ethics of justice (Fombad, 2005; Matutina, 2009). Ethics as protection is recognizing child participants’ vulnerability and respecting their autonomy. Their vulnerability is shown on different aspects, such as rationality, maturity, language development, and intelligence. So researchers need to pay close attentions to all different aspects. Ethics of care require researchers to minimize the risks, safeguard children from any harm, and assure children’s welfare and wellbeing.
As a Director of Human Resources for a public organization, in writing a comprehensive Code of Ethics, I would define the following key areas regarding expected standard of employee behavior as especially important; 1. A code of conduct regarding sexual harassment, discrimination and equal opportunity, 2. Confidentiality and privacy, 3. Workplace health and safety, and 4. Drug free work environment.
Throughout the ordeal, although hostility may seem the key issue, in actual fact we can derive positivity as Lee and Kyle developed an unlikely bond, whereby both care for each other in the sense that Kyle did not want to gravely hurt Lee in any way and Lee’s caring attitude is apparent when Kyle is shot and at this point, Lee’s emotions got the better of him as he is engulfed in grief. Either way, Lee managed to overcome his self-centered attitude towards becoming someone with a sense of humility and care. Besides that, Patty shows tremendous care towards Lee when she sticks by his side throughout the difficult period. She assisted him in investigating the truth hidden in the investment. Patty had the choice to leave but she did not. She stayed and made sure Lee was fine and at the same time trying her level best to reveal the truth. Kyle also showed care for the society around him by risking his life to expose the truth about IBIS. He was aware that he would not walk out of the studio alive as he was being broadcast to millions live on TV yet he went on with his actions. If he did not care about other people, he could have handled the situation differetly, but he made his
The National Association Of Social Work has a long history in the United States. A code of ethics was developed by a delegate of social workers for social workers to live by. The delegate has revised the code many times since its development in 1960. The NASW Delegate Assembly first agreed on the Code of Ethics on October 30, 1960. The document embodied the duties of the social work profession and the responsibilities of each social worker. American values have changed many times. As a democratic nation, we advocate for humanitarian ideals and the equal treatment of our citizens. “Social work is based on humanitarian, democratic ideals.” According to the original 1960 code of ethics, “professional social workers are dedicated to the service for the welfare of mankind; to the disciplined use of a recognized body of knowledge about human beings and their interactions, and to the marshaling of community resources to promote well-being without discrimination.” This is a long quote but, I believe it perfectly encompasses what it means to live in a fair and democratic nation. Although America still had many civil rights issues at the time, a system such as this could not develop in a communist or dictatorship nation.
Drilling for oil is a risky and dangerous operation BP had major environmental industrial accidents that killed employees and spilled oil. To improve the relationships with the stakeholder groups BP came up with safety and sustainability programs. Safety procedures were reviewed and improved to protect employers in the future. They developed a code of conduct which was introduced to every employee in 2005. The new rules supposed to be clearer and detailed which was an updated of the previous guide detailing what the BP Company stand for. The code of conduct covers health, safety, security and the environment expectations. The provide guidelines for business partners, governments and communities to cover issues such as bribery, money laundering
I agree with the decision that IBR made. However, the researcher should keep in mind that the same rules apply when discussing the study itself. Researcher should consider the ethical guidelines when preparing for the research. First the participants must be voluntary, he should give a clear information about the study to determine any risk as well as benefits, no harm should result from the study. Especially when discussing the population. For instance, by the researcher asking questions that may cause discomfort to participants, asking questions about past traumatic or abusive episodes. This can lead participants to be re traumatized (Royse et al., 2016). Another risk that can be presented is the damage to the reputation of the participant
In contrast, Abbott Laboratories, a world-wide company with over 90,000 employees word-wide, recently agreed to pay over $1.8 billion dollars in fine for deceptive marketing (site) and accounting fraud related to their anti-seizure medication, Depakote. In addition, they have agreed to enter in to a Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA) with the Office of Inspector General (OIG) of the Department of Health and Human Services (http://www.abbott.com/news-media/press-releases/abbott-reaches-settlement-agreement-on-depakote.htm). During the period of investigation (2001-2006), Abbott earned about $13 billion from the sales of Depakote.
The one ethical principal that is part of the International Coach Federation that I could foresee having to take safeguards to adhere to relates to the roles and boundaries of a coach. While I practice as a coach I do consider myself more of an expert advisor who uses coaching as an intervention. Therefore, when I work with clients I find it necessary to discuss at the onset of engagement if the assignment would require both. According to the ICF Code of Ethics (ICF, 2015) Section 2:14 in the Conflicts of Interest Section the code states coaches “clarify roles for internal coaches, set boundaries and review stakeholders conflicts of interest that may emerge between coaching and other role functions”. Therefore, while the ICF codes focuses their
The IEEE Code of Ethics first rule is that engineers must make decisions consistent with the safety, health, and welfare of the public. The definition of safety or health can be unclear, especially for engineers when it comes to the medical device industry. In the medical device industry, the rapid increase of technology decreases the ability for regulations to keep up. When looking at job requirements for medical device engineers, one of the major requirements is to know the FDA guidelines on medical devices. The FDA guidelines are what engineers follow when it comes to designing. The FDA has its own goal to put products on the market that are safe and effective. The FDA, though, must also satisfy congressional goals which is for the public to get quick access to better medical devices. There are some faults found in the FDA guidelines, such as loopholes that industries take advantage of. The FDA has allowed “innovative but potentially defective devices” [1] to enter the market which may make the engineer who decided to pass the product question their decisions. This brings up a dilemma for engineers. Engineers in this industry face a moral issue on whether a design they produce balances safety and innovation. Engineers themselves must decide whether it is morally permissible to pass a design knowing the consequences and benefits it can bring to a patient. For an engineer to know if their design is morally permissible, the FDA guidelines, faulty medical device cases that
