I would identify leading indicators through an ongoing base of formal and informal assessment types. It’s important to frequently use leading indicators because they provide early signals of progress towards measures of growth and achievement. Knowing the outcomes for of the leading indicators is important in determining if the interventions I am doing support student learning. Leading indicators provide me with the right information at the right time (through assessments). I can use this data to guide my teaching. Using leading indicators is important because they can give me an idea on students that are not performing, so that I can address risk of academic failure with changes to instruction.
Financial statement analysis is the process of identifying financial strengths and weaknesses of a firm by appropriately establishing a relationship between the items of the balance sheet and the profit and loss account. Financial statement plays an important role in setting framework of managerial decisions. Operating indicator analysis are quantifiable measurements that help an organization define and measures progress towards organizational goals that have been defined and agreed upon by management. These goals may change as an organization’s goal change. Operating indicator analysis in health care are part of the health service manger’s quality and risk management plans. Plans are chosen based on the operating indicator analysis based on several factors such as regulatory and accrediting body initiatives and recommendations as well as identified organizational improvement areas. Generally, this analysis for health services is aimed at making sure program or service does what it is intended to do and do it well. Health service managers need the information provided by financial statement analysis. They need to know how their organization is doing financially, what their rate of profit is and whether or not they are they are managing their inventories and accounts receivable efficiently. This can help managers to decide if any changes need to be made and how to allocate their financial resources. Many managers of healthcare facilities use their organization’s financial statement analysis to calculate various ratios and
What is the purpose of initial assessment and what kind of methods could be used? Evaluate these methods with reference to the ways they can help in the overall objective of achieving learning goals. How can you ensure learners are kept motivated and working towards these goals?
Indicator 1b: Teachers treat students equitably and with dignity. They recognize the individual differences, and they account for these differences in practice.
Without assessment, there is no opportunity to keep track of benchmarks of improvement and no sense of progress. Assessment provides a time for reflection for the teacher as well as the child. The teacher may need to revisit his or her approach to teaching, based upon student's comprehension and input. Also, on a very crude level, assessment can encourage students to perform to a higher level: "Whether we like it or not, most students tend to focus their energies on the best or most expeditious way to pass their 'tests'" (Scanlan, n.d.). Q2. - What are some tools and approaches that are most appropriate in assessing children's learning and development?
The third instrument that I will use will be student summative assessment data in relation to how effective students transition from one level to the next with and without built in intervention to the SRA program all the way through to grade level reading.
There are many useful ways to monitor progress to support learning and achievement by doing a checklist e.g. the teacher can do a checklist about what physical skills each individual child can do e.g. skipping, balancing and hopping etc. Observations can also be taken to monitor progress of each child or young person’s
MEASURE would be an effective tool for me to use if I was a high school counselor who was aiming to improve my school’s graduation and post secondary enrollment rates. MEASURE is an acronym for a 7-step acronym program that stands for Mission, Elements, Analyze, Stakeholder-Unite, Results/Outcome, and Educate. The reason it is an effective program is because it allows a school counseling team to target critical data elements that can be game changers toward their accountability agenda (Stone, 2016). It also allows the counseling team to organize the goals that they have and the policies they have put in place to reach those goals so that they could move the critical data in a positive direction. MEASURE also grants the school
The first is high-quality classroom, scientifically based instruction. Without this, students will not be receiving reliable, valid, and equivalent teaching and instruction. Another component that is needed is continuing assessments of students. Universal screenings and measures to monitor progress are critical to determine if a student is meeting the academic requirements. According to Jenkins and Johnson (n.d.), the screening process should have three important criteria. The first is classification accuracy which is being able to clearly tell if a child is at risk for academic difficulties or not. The second is efficiency which means that the screen should be universal, administered and scored quickly, and the procedure should not be time-consuming or costly. Third is consequential validity which means that all students who are identified as at risk must receive effective intervention. Ongoing student data can be compared to peers to determine which students are trailing behind and may need additional intervention. According to Deno (n.d.), over the past 30 years, there has been a different approach being used that focuses less on comparing differences of students and more on the student’s progress towards their own educational outcomes. The data obtained from ongoing assessments is critical to understand a student’s level of achievement and
Performance measures could be measured by student response (verbal or written) in the form of a test, essay or even class discussions about various topics. Additionally, I would create a checklist to be referred to quarterly to ensure that each subject has had a diverse topic and follow up discussion at least five times per subject (math, science, reading, writing, and social studies) providing a minimum of twenty-five intentional diverse
In my initial thought for this question I had the right idea that Ms. Begay should use assessment. Ms. Begay should first administer testing to see where the student’s weaknesses are. She should then develop curriculum based measurement to regularly check the students’ progress. She can also then use progress monitoring to help find students who may be falling behind, set goals for instruction, and make sure her instruction is effective. In order to effectively use progress monitoring she would have to use the six steps: Create and select tests, give and grade the tests, graph the results, set goals for the student, evaluate her instruction, and then communicate to those involved in the child’s education like parents or those part of
Assessment is utilized in a meaningful purpose. Ongoing assessment is to plan for improved services and supports to the children and families. Throughout the ongoing assessments educators will be able to determine if children need an early intervention plan. If so, educators can work with children and families to develop individual plans and families can be referral to additional resources. Individual plan will consists of specific goals develop to assist a child. Observations will also help educators determine school readiness goals. For example, children need to social emotional skills for their early school success. If social emotional is a child’s weakness area of their development, the teacher will develop goals to help the child strengthen their
“Assessment is a method for analysing and describing student learning outcomes or program achievement of objectives” (Assessment services, 2011). A form of Assessment is standardised testing. This kind of test is used to “measure the performance of a group against that of a larger group” (assessment services, 2011). Standardized tests are often used in large-scale assessment projects, where the overall results of the group are more important than specific data on each individual client.
My school just acquired the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Assessment. The assessment is available for grades K-12. It is a computer-based assessment that gives content questions aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence. As students answer the questions the difficulty adjusts due to the response to the previous question. The assessment is designed to be administrated three times during a school year, and individual results are placed on a line graph to show each student’s personal growth. The result page shows the breakdown of the student knowledge in each of the five mathematic domains. This information will benefit teachers in flexible grouping and guiding their daily lessons. Research shows that every student at all ability levels can show growth if we utilize the data given by the standardize
The criterion for premium beers is social status. The potential surrogate indicators could include: alcohol content, brand name, and season. Consumers could associate higher alcohol content with higher costing beer, referring back to social status. For example, and IPA may have more alcohol content than a light beer. Brand name can also play a factor in social status. For example, Natural Light beer is cheap and is associated with college students, whereas a beer like Guinness is objectively more expensive and is associated with more sophisticated drinkers.
A metric is a quantifiable measure organizations use to identify, track, monitor and assess the success of human resource or business methods. A more simple definition: metrics are numbers that indicate how well a company is performing. Business analysts use metrics to compare the performance of different companies. Metric dashboards are used to provide a quick view of key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to a strategic objective or business process. A metric dashboard is an easy to read graphical presentation or snapshot of the current status and historical trends of a company’s key performance indicators (KPIs) to assist management in making informed decisions (Weinstein & Bukovinsky, 2009). Utilizing correctly formulated metrics should add value to the organization.
