Each family member contributed to establishing a purpose for the group sessions to identify what why they are together and want to accomplish. Janice would like for the family to get along better while also communicating better. Leon agreed with Janice and would like for the family to get along better while also working to reduce tension in the family. Beartice expressed the purpose was to be a happier family. Kat sees the purpose of the group for the family to be nicer to one another. Kat and Guy agree that the purpose is to help the family members to accept one another. The purpose of the family coming together in group sessions is to improve communication, get along with one another better, to be happier, and reduce tension. Janice could be described as the commander or the problem solver as she initiated the group sessions to help the family work through issues that are occurring within the family. Janice is caring and dedicated to helping her family create a healthy relationship within the home. Janice expressed concern of the overall well-being of the family and provided her input on changes that could assist the family improving their current relationship. She also shared that there have been struggles through her marriage with Leon based on the difference in race between the two of them. Janice is prepared and awaiting to enter the next life stage of retirement. This does not appear to be a conflicting issue at the time, but has impacted experiences in the marriage
At one point in a person life, they will participated in a group whether it is part of a specific committee, therapy, or social group. In recent years, there has been a rise in counseling within a group forum veering from the tradition individual counseling. Therapists, physiologist, and counselors believe that form of counseling is beneficial to both counselor and client. This allows the counselor to help several clients at once rather than one at a time decreasing their strenuous workload and demanding work hours. This form of counseling integrate individual that share similar issues, struggles, and experiences into one forum. Purpose of the group counseling varies from group to group. It can be therapeutic, educational, or helping people to make fundamental changes in their way of thinking, feeling and behaving (Corey, 2004, p. 7). Group counseling/therapy has the advantage of being more effective than individual therapy because, it more closely stimulates social interactions and interpersonal communication patterns than does individual counseling (Kottler, 2004, p. 260). Each family member will be taught on the importance of listening to the issues raised other members of the family. This will lay down the foundation for the future sessions. I will also coach the members of the Kline household on how to provide suitable feedback on issues raised by other family members. The session shall also entail a discussion of the expectations of each family member. It is a good point to begin instructing the family on the necessary required in order for those changes to be achieved.

At our first support group we decided that our goals would stay the same each week. Our primary goal was to practice group facilitation and group participation. Our sub goals were to support one another and get to know one another. We began our first support group with not really supporting one another because there was no need for it; however, the second support group we supported one another as we shared about our families. The third support group also got deeper in supporting one another as we talked about our high school experiences. The fourth group I felt that we did not exercise the sub goal to support one another because it was more educational than supportive.

Group counseling may be adverted to as a course of counseling, which takes a group of people coming together under one or more trained therapists, who simultaneously facilitate them and promote them to help one another to overcome their challenges. The group members are usually peers who may not necessarily face the same problem, but their problems may be linked. According to Jacobs, Masson, Harvill and Schimmel (2012), all members in a counseling group wish and desire personal growth. This kind of therapy has been employed over the years and it has produced excellent results in the lives of the group members.
First, I discussed four of the ten “General System Concepts” in relation to a small group interaction and why they are important. I explained input, output, feedback, and integration and how they worked in small groups. Then I explained how sharing, feedback, group-discovery, and encouragement reduce Quadrants 2-4 in the Johari Window and widen Quadrant 1, by doing those things you can make you group better with communication and get more effective results. Finally, I explained how my application of a biblical word view can assist with my Johari window modifications. The bible guides us to help other and lift each other up these are simple ways to encourage and build a better group. I hope this helps you better understand group interactions.
The counseling session goes through various characteristics. At the very earliest stage, the participants test the new relationship with the leader and with each other, and the leader, in a way, experiments too with the new relationship with the participators assessing which techniques would be best to employ with them and whether or not there is a match. As with all acquaintances, some work and some do not, and the earliest stages of the group session are a prelude to the future of the success of the group. Exploration is tentative, members learn the rules of this new game and the leader, in turn, learns how to act with participators.
There are various ways of benefits of group conferencing, including benefits for the young person, the community, the justice system, the victim/s and the young person’s family. These will be discussed below on how it is a strength to youth justice group conference.
