Individual Research Contribution Why is the team of interest to you? As an avid Netflix addict, I have always been a fan of The Office. When our team needed to choose a team, we all decided that the team on The Office exemplified something we could portray well in our project. Throughout the television series, the show paints a picture of a team that on initial looks, seems unorganized, unfocused, and often immature and dysfunctional. As the show progresses, the team changes and grows. Throughout the seasons viewers notice the team actually has the best sales and is recognized by the corporate company. I plan to make an active effort to recognize the efforts amongst the team in an effort to better portray the humble role of the Ideal Team Player. In addition, I contribute ideas to the team which helps with the smarts area of the Ideal Team Member. As someone who is often eager to complete tasks, I am definitely a hungry team player. What do you anticipate being the strengths and weakness of your team (not the “extraordinary” team) I anticipate our team having strengths by being diversified by true colors, possessing communication skills, overall presence, as well as listening, and understanding to be some strengths of the team. I know people’s strengths and weaknesses, I also know how certain people work to with each other and I understand that some people may not work well with others but I will try my hardest to make sure nothing bad happens to the team and the people that make up the team, I will work on everyone getting along with each other.
A successful team can be represented by various characteristics which include respect for one another, a sense of purpose, commitment to the aims of the team which are demonstrated every day by each team member and regular communication between team members.
Clear responsibilities and roles, the structure of the team, job descriptions, competencies, accountabilities, resources, tools and equipment should all be provided. Problem solving, communicating, managing conflicts, tasks, planning meetings, performance evaluation, managing change and decision making should follow clear procedures ensuring effective team working. Positive relationships, mutual respect and trust, continuing support and inclusion, valuing diversity and listening to feedback can overcome challenges to effective team performance. A strong credible leader with clear expectations can also overcome challenges to an effective team.

The features of effective team performance is set up through positive leadership; something which is developed and nurtured. An effective team will work together, be focused and supportive of each other to achieve and reach goals. For a team to be effective, each team member needs to be clear on their roles and responsibilities relating to their job. Team performance will be more effective if there is respect for the leader/manager and an understanding towards their job role and responsibility.

Since you can't expect a new team to amaze when it first comes together, putting together a robust team that functions well was a challenge. The second challenge was the fact that we were all the same age and almost all had the same level of experience, which put an extra burden on me trying to influence the team and make them believe in me and trust me as a leader.
This fable was a great way to promote the importance of a team and its functions. This book had many highlights throughout the context and I would highly recommend it to leaders of a corporation or of that of a team like setting. This book offered many great implications of the model and how to use it in many diverse settings when trying to build and manage successful teams.

After reading The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Pat Lencioni, discussing the function of effective teams in class, and completing various team building exercises, I have developed a much better understanding of the importance of a proper team in a business setting and how good team work can produce more efficient and productive results.
My team has a number of strengths. First of all, it is the flexibility of majority of team members, thereby creating an effective team. The team members, although they come from different units, they are capable of accommodating each other’s views resulting in a strong team.
They suck the positive energy and creative brainpower out of the room. Team members waste precious time watching their back, instead of openly innovating, taking risks, and speaking up candidly about what’s on their minds.
Generally, the team dynamics are good and the team works well together since the members know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Looking at the team from the context of Tuckman’s model of team development, I believe that the team is past the forming, storming, and norming stages, and we are now at the performing phase. The performing stage is usually characterized with optimal task attainment and a high level of cohesion, collaboration, and communication as well as genuine pride in the successes of the team (Management training Australia, 2015). Everyone within the team is strategically aware and understands what the team is doing and what is expected of them. The leader delegates activities with minimum supervision and members within the team look after one another. Although disagreements may arise every now and then, the team is now mature enough to attend to such disagreements and solve them in a positive way. The following are the team members;
In many aspects of our life, it is pervasive to work in a team. No matter in company, school, or another type of team it is necessary to be a part of a team and to achieve a team goal by corporations. People join a team with different personalities, goals, values, beliefs and needs. On the one hand, these differences can be a valuable quality of teams. On the other hand, these same differences inevitably lead to different levels of conflicts as well.
