Individual Strengths Leading to Successful Performance (Please provide a detailed narrative and examples, especially in all performance areas where self-evaluation indicates exceeding expectations): I drew and painted a variety of birds on hard boards for door decorations – inspired by Japanese culture where different guest rooms in hotels have names and paintings of different flowers, which leads to the expression of cultural diversity that residents would appreciate and desire to learn more about. Furthermore, I created the second set of door decorations to synchronize with my November board which is about No-Shave-November. A deep meaning behind the board is to educate residents and raise cancer awareness among them by growing beards without shaving in order to save daily shaving spending to No-Shave-November online charity for saving the lives of patients with cancers! Again, as an underrepresented individual myself while being a resident assistant who have undergone trainings few times, I understood the importance of voicing for underrepresented groups like LGBT individuals. Hence, I posted LGBT ally sticker on my door since the beginning of the semester to show residents my zealous support for LGBT. In this semester, I am taking LGBT history course to comprehend the historic aspect of LGBT to understand the background of the issues and wholly support LGBT residents with the learned knowledge. On my floor, I always promote the
Strengths: Today was a difficult day but I was able to meet some objectives even though they didn’t directly apply to the clinical setting. Objectives that I met were objective 2 and 5. I meet objective 2, communicating effectively with staff, by calling you and letting you know about my situation. Even though I didn’t want to call in, I knew it was best to discuss my options, therefore, I was effective in communicating. In my future career as a nurse, as well as other careers, you need to be able to effectively communicate what is occurring. Whether that is telling a family member difficult news about a loved one or using SBAR to
Identifying and understanding your own personal strengths is key to being a successful leader. Knowing your strengths means you can focus your efforts to maximize results, in yourself and in others. Strengths Finder 2.0 is designed to uncover your strengths and utilize these strengths to your advantage (Rath, 2007). Identifying and applying these strengths to your leadership style, will enhance your effectiveness as a transformational leader.
Based on the Clifton Strengths Assessment my top five strengths are strategic, deliberative, learner, maximize and individualization. As an individual, I rarely look into my weakness. I believe that when your too focused on your weakness, you forget about your strengths. Everything the book said is true, and we need to take the time to look at our strengths and make it perfect. It is true that in this world or the school system, we are taught to look at our weakness and correct it so that we can become stronger in our life. This book brings out the truth that I longed to hear for a long time. Invariably, I hear my professor tell their students that for them success in life, they must practice and look at our weakness. This book proves it wrong because for us to become successful, we must stay to our strengths’ path.
Other strengths that I exhibit include being structured, responsible, articulate, task-oriented, determined, confident, effective planner, visionary, and possessing the ability to manage resources effectively. Being structured allows me to set parameters that we can all work within to achieve the overall company goals. Structure builds bonds and a sense of cohesiveness in the workplace. This type of unity will be necessary for the success of the organization. We can all work towards common goals if clear goals are outlined for everyone. The other strengths will all work together as well.
My top strength identified was the Achiever theme. Achiever describes the need for constant achievement. Achievers have the capacity and the drive to keep taking on new challenges and strive toward new goals (Rath, 2007). This description is accurate in that I enjoy a new challenge and like to keep busy working towards anything with some sort of successful outcome. I welcome the opportunity to do something better, more perfectly, or more complete which motivates me to a higher level (Rath, 2007).
Gallup’s (2017) StrengthsQuest assessment lists my five greatest strengths as competition, achiever, learner, input, and strategic. After reviewing the detailed descriptions of these strengths, I am confident that I can successfully apply these skills to my job as an investigator and further develop my capacity in leadership. Before taking this survey, I was certain that focus would be among my five greatest strengths, but after considering the book’s description of the achiever theme, I am convinced of the accuracy of this evaluation. Outlined below is my interpretation of these talents, their intrinsic drawbacks, and several illustrations of how they have helped me achieve success. I have also included a few examples of how I can implement
Discharge planning, education, and follow-up are areas healthcare facilities fail patients significantly. Often times, the bedside nurse has little time to actually sit down to provide the patient with detailed discharge instructions. My vision for a new and improved healthcare environment is to have discharge teams to assist patients with needs outside the healthcare facility, educate patients and families about disease process, and provide follow-up appointments and calls to promote compliance of treatment.
For this project you will be completing the StrengthsQuest exercise and then compiling the information and findings comparing your personal strengths with your current job.
The first of the four performance areas is character. Personally, I have a hard time describing my own character, yet determined, logical, innovative, efficient, and helpful are all words I have heard said about me. My character can be clearly displayed in one key instance, when one of my friends on the track team fell and hurt themselves on a run. Rather than finish my run as most other people did, I stopped and although we were more than two miles from the base, I helped support, and even carried, my friend back to the base.
A group of us Arts and Music students used the day on Wednesday to go into the city to visit the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. It was a cold, breezy day so we were all bundled up in jackets and hats. As we got off the E train and walked toward the museum, its appearance was not what I expected it to be. The museum was an elegant, beautiful building made of what looked to be marble; not the big, brick monstrosity I had expected. Once we walked into the museum, it was even more elegant on the inside. The marble staircase had sculptures on each side leading up to the rotunda where white Christmas lights were strung around the banister in decoration for the Christmas season.
The first ray of sunlight glistened onto the wooden floor and reflected on the Gardenia garland which hung on the wall. Today was October 5th, 1955. As I opened the aureate porthole furnishing with white blossoms, a fresh scent of Hawaiian sea-salt dashed in. It was a big day.
My current strengths include; my honesty and passion towards my work. I have always been positive and confident regarding my aims and targets. Along with these, I am a good decision maker, due to which I can make right and quick decisions. Moreover, I have ability to motivate others and do team work. I am also a responsible person, when I make a target; I work day and night to achieve my goal.
Strengths -Strengths are the qualities that enable us to accomplish the organization’s mission. These are the
We live in a world where classification is king (there are literally hundreds of shades of blue). It’s understandable as it’s the primary way we humans learn about ourselves and the people and things around us. In the workforce, however, clinging on to classifications, like basic job descriptions as if it were dogma from above, can stagger the growth and performance of your company.
Attend to all aspects of a person’s performance. When an individual is particularly impressive/disappointing in one area, avoid the tendency to categorize other performance areas similarly.
