The lives of the industrial classes were all different. The upper class lived in luxury while attending fancy parties and extravagant dinners. The middle class did not have as much money as the upper class. Although, they had enough money to support their families and live comfortably. The lower class were not as fortunate. They lived in unsanitary conditions and had to face many struggles just to be able to barley have enough to live. The differences between the 3 classes lead to social, economic , and political issues.

The Industrial Revolution that took place throughout the 18th and the 19th centuries had major effects which influenced every aspect of society and life such as, urbanization, imperialism and nationalism. The industrial revolution had an unfathomable effect on shaping the modern world to what it is today. Before the revolution, society revolved around farming and agriculture. There were only two social classes, the nobility and the working class. Little did they know, that their lives were about to change dramatically and continue changing for the next generations to come.

The Industrial revolution started in Britain around 1750 and by 1850 it will make Great Britain the wealthiest country in the world. The revolution also spread to other European countries and the New World. Both Germany and United States will surpass Britain in the next fifty years. Working hard to surive is something we all have to do. In America today, we are very privledged compared to our written history. During the Industrial Revolution, women and children were employed in factories with terrible and unsafe working condtions. These fragile, hardworking people worked around 12 hours per day, 6 days per week. Once these individuals hours were cut down to eight hours a day and their pay was increased, they became more productive and excited about their work.

In “Class and Community the Industrial Revolution in Lynn”, Alan Dawley discusses the changes the town goes through and how the Industrial Revolution changed the life of the town from pre-industry to factory systems. During the novel, the community becomes very materialized and Dawley explains how this creates tension between the elites and working class. Dawley pointed out that because of the corrupt factories and workers, there were hardships and extremes that the community had to overcome to achieve better working conditions.

Throughout the Industrial Revolution, everyday lives have improved. More specifically, the classes in Britain of the late nineteenth century. For the average person, the standards of living increased outrageously. Moreover, real wages for British workers doubled within 1850 to 1906. However, greater wages did not eliminate the faults in society. For instance, the wages did not make the rich and poor equivalent. Standards of living such as housing, employment, and fellowship were three improvements for the middle and working class in Britain of the late nineteenth century.

From 1750 to 1850, the world was changed indefinitely. The Industrial Revolution was one of many things that cause this change. Many people had to adapt to the new ways of living during this time period. From moving to new locations to young children having to work long, tough hours. The Industrial Revolution had a major impact on social and economic standing’s, some of them beneficial, others more trivial.

Although there were many positives, the environmental damage and the division of middle class from the lower class created many short and long term negatives. The amount of pollution and new emergence of new disease was partly caused by the invention of the Steam train. The steam train, invented in 1803 by Richard Trevithick, was viewed as an overall positive but came with many hidden negatives. The environment trembled under the steam and the population explosion created commercial train lines which people used to get into the city.

This shift created a middle class due to the fact that goods were being produced at a faster more efficient rate and being bought for a lower price, allowing people to have left over money that could be used on personal items rather than for survival. In the beginning of the revolution employers would not provide safe working conditions or equal working wages. Women formed the first union requesting that they be paid the same amount as a man for the same amount of work. Other unions, not specified to women, fought for safer and more sanitary working conditions. For one of the first times in history employees had felt the power to stand up for themselves and demand things from their boss, in a reasonable fashion. In order to measure the benefits of a revolution or of any new idea, one must consider both the impact on society and the impact on the people involved. I strongly believe that the rights and freedoms of citizens should under no circumstances be hindered by economic or scientific progress. The American people should be prioritized over anything else.
