65% of Americans with a four-day week have a major child care issue. Research shows that schools should not have a four-day week.
Others might say that with a four-day school week you have an extra day to sleep in, hang out with friends and do whatever. But that is wrong, with a four-day week you wouldn’t have time for after school activities, you would have financial problems and students would focus less. they are many reasons why you would have the issues, but I am going to tell you the most important one. So I can change your mind as you read my point of view of a four-day school week.
To begin, if schools went to a four-day week, students will not have time for any after school activities. According to a website called “Afterschoolallstar.com” if we have a four-day school week we will have longer school hours. That means students won’t have time for after-school activities; and without activities, students may take part in drugs, drinking, smoking and sexually activities. 67% percent of students that take part in activities are qualified for free or reduced paid lunch. According to Art Nash an Extension Educator, parent can have a potential income loss from staying home with their kids on the fifth day they don’t have school. What he means by that is parents will lose money from their jobs to stay home and take care of the kids. So you guys know all those new clothes and shoes you want; well you will not be getting them as soon as you thought all because you had a four-day school week.
