In Germany, the Catholic Church has a portion of the population consisting of 25.2 million. The Protestant Church, has 24.5 million members. The two churches make up more than three-fifths of the population. The Muslims number is approximately 4 million, with 226,000 Shia, 400,000 Alevis, and 2.6 million Sunnis. Germany has about 2,600 Islamic places of worship, including 150 traditional mosques (Germany, N.d.). Muslim populations continue to rise, especially with the conflict occurring in Syria which is displacing thousands of families. More than 6 billion euros are being set aside to house for 800,000 new refugee applicants this year. Germany is planning to take in 500,000 more for several years to come. This amount represents 1% of Germany’s population (Shubert, 2015). Not everyone in Germany is open to the idea of refugees coming into the nation and it is sparking up conflict between the citizens and the newcomers. When the chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, informed the nation that they would be taking in this amount of refugees, Germans who strongly opposed this decision burnt down a refugee shelter that ended up hospitalizing many of the individuals taking refuge inside (Shubert, 2015). Taking in refugees into the country is forcing the people of strong national identity to come forth and combat the intake of lesser political identities in the refugees. This kind of national pride is being started by right-wing extremists who believe that bringing in so many
Can you imagine that your little town is being attacked or even a natural disaster may be occurring and you have nowhere to go? What would you do? How would you survive? You would have to flee your home away from the tragic disaster. You would have no place to call home and all you would have is the clothes on your back. Some in the process of leaving their town never get to see their family again and are lucky if they survive. This is why I believe that refugees should be allowed into the United States under certain conditions. These include having a positive background, being eligible for a job and respecting our nation as well as the people in it. As the US turns refugees away, thousands of lives are being taken away. We could easily help them by taking them into our country. Although some people that enter the country may commit crimes, that doesn’t mean we should turn all of them away. It would cause way more harm than good. Most crimes that happen in the United States are caused by the people that are US citizens rather than the refugees. All of these innocent lives are just being taken away and as many Americans sit back and do nothing about it. When we could be out there saving lives. Our country has to step in and do something about this serious situation. There are solutions we could use to solve these problems by making sure all people that enter this country are good at heart. Outside of very few exceptions our country is mainly made up of refugees and
More than 3,500 refugees drowned on their way to Europe to live better lives. Why are they going to Europe, and why are they risking their lives to do so? Refugees are people who get forced out of their homes. To live a normal life they must leave their old lives behind just to get better ones, but we help the most we can.
In both of these articles they talk about refugees. Some families had adjusted a new life after all the bad things that happened to them. When the refugees were being sent away, they felt queasy about where they were going. All the refugees thought they were going to get a document and be U.S. citizens. But they weren't, they were being sent to internment camps. And had to live there.
universal refugee experience is shared with many refugees, including having to learn a new language, becoming sick and malnourished, and having to make new friends in their new home.
The dilemma regarding the American refugee policy and America’s stance on refugees at this point in time is a challenging topic for many to discuss. Not only is this controversy affecting Americans, it is also hurting refugees in desperate need of our help. America needs to start handling the emerging refugee crisis by first working to remove the stereotype associated with refugees, then the U.S. needs to assess which refugee countries should (if any) actually be banned, and after accomplishing those-- America needs to work to help the countries in need by letting refugees in, and working to help the refugees live happily in their country of origin.
According to UNHCR, a refugee is someone who has been forced to flee his or her country because of persecution, war, or violence. A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. Most likely, they cannot return home or are afraid to do so. War and ethnic, tribal and religious violence are leading causes of refugees fleeing their countries. When people flee their own country, and seek sanctuary in another country, they apply for asylum – the right to be recognized as a refugee and receive legal protection and material assistance. An asylum seeker must demonstrate that his or her fear of persecution in his or her home country is
A 3 year old little boy named chance Kurdi was washed up shore lifeless on a beach on his way to America by a sunken boat. His brother Galib and mother Rehan also died. The only person who survived was his father Abdullah Kurdi. All they were trying to do is come to America to start a new life and start over. Sadly they didn't get that chance. So lets give other refugees that opportunity to see the greener side of the grass.
The utterly diminished and persistently conflicted regime of Bashar Al-Assad has led to several forces, including numerous rebel groups, Kurdish forces, and even ISIL to occupy the war-torn country of Syria in a seemingly never-ending ruination. Most importantly however, it has also led to millions of Syrians becoming dislodged between the remnant regions with the deaths of roughly half a million citizens, according to the Syrian Centre for Policy Research, from a civil war that originated due to a series of protests and differentiating ideologies. The situation has lead for surviving Syrians, now properly known as refugees, to seek asylum in neighboring countries in Europe, but even including some countries as far as in the Western Hemisphere, particularly the United States.
Words used everyday by our media and our highest politicians. We hear it uttered with condescension and tainted by fear.[b] But essentially ‘asylum seekers, refugees, boat people’ is what will determine our country's federal election. But many people in this room may not actually know what these 3 phrases really mean[c]. Are these people that seeking a better life, trying to be free and do what’s best for their families. Similarly maybe even searching for health care and resources, perhaps even fleeing from persecution or something else that is out of their control.
Shortly after the end of World War 2 and the founding of the United Nations, the UN General Assembly recorded thirty rights all people should have. Ranging from employment, to health and wellbeing, to family and education, the majority of countries give their people these rights. But no government is perfect, as all countries skip a few of these rights in their laws, even the United States. If someone had no knowledge about the last few years and they took a quick look at a newspaper or a news channel, the world may seem peaceful, but this is far from the truth. For the last few years, war has driven millions of people from their home countries and the US refuses to grant many of these people asylum.
American Christians are coming together to pray for Syrian refugees who are feeling conflict in their country which began about five years ago in early spring of 2011.
Refugees are people who are forced to flee a country because of persecution or because of serious human rights abuses. Refugees can help with things like the economy and by letting in refugees we can prove to Isis that we are not scared of them. Although it can be unsafe trusting machines to detect anything wrong, we are letting in families that need help, not singular people that are just looking for a place to live. Should refugees be allowed to come into a country that is peaceful and safe?
As I looked over to snowy meadow I wondered if we would ever convince Strong horn we can't leave this place, as I stood up to walk over to the nearby flowing stream. This was the only body of water our flock had access to, as I watched the crystal clear water flow down the diagonal slope I saw my reflection in this water there I was a young Ram still being a trained killing machine to keep our flock together Bruce Defender of the Strong horn flock I thought to myself. There were also two other flocks the Bighorns and the Broken horns these clans were divided up by our family name.
a topic of great debate for many years, both in the UK and across many
