Obtain quality health care can be difficult for individuals who have a pre-existing condition. It is not fair nor right to exclude them from obtain health insurance because of a condition that is pre-existing. According to Obamacare, individuals with pre-existing conditions are able to obtain health insurance as would an individual of perfect health. More and more consumers with chronic diseases are finding this to be difficult. Consumers should be protected against fluctuations in premiums for private individual health insurance associated with the onset of high-cost chronic conditions.

For example, one of the components individual mandate which isn’t just a mandate to have insurance, but a mandate to have a specific type of insurance that the government had directed (Tanner, 2014). On the other hand I do remember when I was concerned about preexisting conditions because if I changes jobs after having cancer I was concerned if the I would not be insured with the next employer so I stayed with a job longer just so I would still have insurance in case I had a reoccurrence.
