Integrity After High School

First of all, character is an abstract evaluation of integrity, for it is the sum of one's qualities and actions. ; Character is not defined by what you did one time, but by what you do all the time and is therefore an essential manifestation of who you are. I am a person who takes criticism willingly and accepts recommendations graciously, meaning that if there is something I can improve, I will do whatever it takes in order change it. I take things constructively in a positive way. I demonstrate the highest standards of honesty and reliability by always telling the truth and by keeping my promises. I actively help rid of the negative influences in school by telling others to never skip class and always do their work.

Character is defined as one’s moral qualities. I have very high expectations for my character, and I hold myself to them. Every time a person isn't the nicest to me or someone else, I remind myself not to stoop to their level. I tell myself, “Treat others how you would want to be treated.” I will always treat myself and everyone around me with respect, courtesy, and kindness.

I think that good character is very important in life because it shows who you are as a person, how you carry yourself as a person and how you treat other people. Having good character is what I believe you need to be successful in life, having good character can cause you to get a good job, possibly getting a raise in your job, making friends and just doing the right thing in general.

The past year has been quite a journey and I have learned and matured greatly over this time. I understand how big of a mistake I made, and I have thought on numerous occasions of how I would keep something like this from happening again if I was once again a student at the University of Alabama. I gained much insight from this event as I now live my life in a different manner and hold myself to higher ethical standards. I plan to live out these standards both inside and outside of the classroom, as I believe academic integrity carries over to more than just school. I hold myself personally accountable for every action that I take, and after everything has happened I know how to conduct myself even when no one is watching. My character has changed over the year and I carry out all of my actions in an honest manner regardless of the situation and these actions will also been shown in an academic setting. I believe honesty is key when following the academic code of conduct and I will be honest in all instances, which includes during the completion of any school work. I have learned that it is better to be honest when doing anything and I am also able to own up to any

Morals, character, integrity, what do these words mean….actually, the question is, do you have them. A man named Dwight Moody once said, “Character is what you are in the dark.” You cannot see your morals, character, or integrity, these are only shown as your values. Someone could only show their own values, which are very important to themselves and everyone else. Integrity is the firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values. The way you show your integrity, character, and morals or how they are effect you in either a negative or positive way. There are many causes to how your values are. So as you know, integrity is very important and it is important to have it.

Students should demonstrate scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character because of three reasons. One, if students demonstrate these qualities they are more likely to get better grades and get reprimanded less. Another, without these traits, a student would have far less opportunities in the future. Finally, as students grow they will gain much more wisdom if they allow themselves to work on demonstrating these characteristics. Overall, these qualities are very important in the present, and in the future.

Character is an important ideal to aspire to because it helps one serve his or her community better and by being kind to others make the world a better place. I hope to improve and build my character through the National Honors Society by being influenced by kind and intelligent role models. I am going to take these influences and be a better role model to those in school and at home by always doing the right thing. A person with a good character tends to be involved in service, or giving back to the community and the world one lives in. This is important to do because having the heart to serve people is a way to show appreciation for what others have done for you, continue the cycle of serving each other, and make the world a better place. I enjoy serving people because I am helping, giving back, and allowing people to have an enjoyable time. I give back to my Palumbo community by volunteering at school events, my Student Runs Philly Style community through volunteering at races, and my local community through volunteering at the library. By joining the National Honors Society, I want to have the opportunity serve at humanitarian events and make a big difference in people’s

Character is the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual, though morality is subjective, in today’s society it is predominantly agreed upon that someone who is of good character has certain qualities that contribute to their decision making, trustworthiness, and intelligence. I previously mentioned prudence, which is the ability to govern oneself by the use of reason to make good judgements that allow you to avoid troublesome situations, which allows one to face the adversities of life while only encountering necessary risks. We are presented with choices every day. Many are easy to make and cause very little stress, but some choices can be extremely difficult and have significant consequences. The difference between making the right choice or the wrong one is often determined be a persons character, which is based upon the qualities of integrity, responsibility, and honesty. Gaining an understanding of these three character traits and how to build them is critical to creating a lifetime of positive outcomes.

What is character? Character is something that is hard to explain. It is who we are, the way we act, and the kind of person we truly are and want to be. Character is what you are in the dark. But if character is the kind of person you are when no one is looking, then why does it matter? Character matters because even when we think no one is looking, they are. People are always watching us and the way we behave and many will look to us in admiration and inspiration, so it is our job to constantly be a role model of good character. A couple of ways that we can show our character are through gratitude and respect, but we can also look up to others, such as Benjamin Franklin, as role models for good character.

In terms of value structure, the morals I held close before I first came to the University of Georgia have only strengthened during my stay here. For example, keeping close ties to my family has always been important to me. My family is tight-knit and I will always feel a strong bond to them. Being separated by my attendance at Georgia has not only diminished our bond, but, instead has made it stronger. We appreciate each other more because I am growing into an adult who can communicate with them as an adult and accept adult responsibilities. They now see facets of my character that they have never truly seen before. My increased interest in academics is one of these changes. They seem very pleased by my eagerness to learn of subjects that, up to now, I have never been exposed to. They have seen this dedication in relation to football, but never with my studies. Though I am still not the student I hope one day to be, always finding the time to concentrate on my classes, I have certainly come a long way. Surely, from this perspective, college has affected me in only a positive manner.

The integrity of a major in college is very important. Imagine you are going for a degree in chemistry and then they change your major to history. This can result in a lot of jumping through hoops and documentation of which one you are actually taking. It’s good to have information about your major available so you can provide it when necessary. Majors in college can be confidential and only accessed by those authorized. However, most of the time it is public to those who want to know.

“Savor that last slow, icy breath before all hell breaks loose.” I heard this mantra from my hockey coach almost every time before we lined up on the ice and waited for the game to begin. There was a sort of spooky peacefulness before the ref slapped that puck on the ice. In that last second, it was easy to picture in my mind the whole game being played out perfectly. BOOM! Instantly, I was completely engulfed in the game. Right as the puck touched the ice, I became responsible for knowing the whereabouts of every person on the ice, including myself.

Integrity is very important on a college campus. College is a synonym for the word “freedom.” You live on your own, and the only people you answer to is the school or the police. So it is up to you to make the decisions that are right for your life. Because even more so in college, where you live with your friends, are there choices to be made every single day. And they all could effect your life.
