Professor Phan, you asked us about the difference between compliance-based and integrity-based ethic codes: -So, the compliance-based ethic codes is avoid the violation behavior of employees in the workplace by control their behaviors, and punish them when they do something wrong. So, the employer will tell or give some examples for the employees about what behavior they can or cannot do in the company. I think Seafood City Supermarket, a Filipinos supermarket in Mack Road, is a good example of a compliance-based ethic codes. The supermarket has a lot of rules, more than twenty pages, for the employees to follow it. Such as, the rules about uniform, lunch time, break time, use cell phone or electric devices at work, behaviors with customers,
lawyer, how do we know if he is not like that towards other clients and judges. I understand that people get emotional when things like divorce and custody arises and things can get out of hand, but in this case, I feel he went a little overboard only thinking about himself and not considering the consequences this all had on his ex wife and minor child. He was definitely unprofessional and even one of the judges said “ if someone asks me what vexatious litigation looks like, the former husband's various filings in this divorce case, especially his antics in these post judgment proceedings, are an excellent example” (Judge Farmer, 1997). Judges and lawyers have a higher standard to go by, if this type of action is not tolerated when representing a client, then it definitely should not be tolerated by a lawyer in his own case.
Compliance with Laws, Rules, and Regulations is, to me, the most important area in a company’s code of conduct. Complying with laws, rules, and regulations includes preventing harassment and discrimination, improper payments, and environmental compliance. When companies are in compliance they are not putting themselves at risk of huge fines, lawsuits, and negativity towards their company.
My first specific idea of how I am planning to honor standard VI in the new AAMFT Code of Ethic that was published in the January 2015 by respectfully stay within its parameters adhering to the best standards of practices. These standards of practices are related to confidentiality and the highest level of services with technology-assisted secure platform using it in a secure way (Caldwell, 2015). The second idea I have planned to honor standard VI in the new AAMFT code of Ethic is by using the technological services within the compliance of the law. The MFT must ensure that the technological services is within the context of the law that ensure privacy plus secure both audio and video communication. The third specific idea of how I would planned
As mentioned in my discussion, Health Information Coding Supervisors are trusted individuals who have access to an organization’s highly confidential security system. A misrepresentation of this position can lead to significant consequences because of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (Prophet, 2015). Criminal penalties imposed on individuals who knowingly and willfully attempt to execute a scheme to defraud any health care benefit program can be up to 10 years imprisonment and possibly life imprisonment depending on the circumstances. Civil monetary penalties can lead to $2000 to $10,000 for each fraudulent payment received.
This is basically a set of conventional principles that are considered binding on the employer/employee. This is mainly about what is acceptable behavior in the firm.
The second standard of Ethical Coding is to report all healthcare data elements required for external reporting purposes completely and accurately, in accordance with regulatory and documentation standards and requirements and applicable official coding conventions, rules, and guidelines. Under this standard, a coding professional should first adhere to the ICD coding conventions, official coding guidelines approved by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), American Hospital Association (AHA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), the CPT rules established by the AHA, and any other official coding rules and guidelines established

As a social work undergraduate, we have several queries regarding why it is so important to follow the NASW code of Ethics and values that relate to human diversity, with regard for the worth and dignity of all persons, as applied to a specific case where we are delivering social work. It is very essential to recognize the five core values of social work, service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, and integrity and competence on our occupation of social work. Today, we have chosen two areas and situations of how we are going to deal with our biases and our challenges while working as social workers, by employing the NASW code of Ethics and values that relate to human diversity, with regard for the worth and dignity of all persons.
The Unified Ethic according to Geuras and Garofalo is based on the compounding of several ethical methodologies. Of the four methodologies that is mentioned Teleology is the first discussed in detail, and relates heavily to happiness. The second is Deontology believes that we should act in a principled manner, and that this affects many aspects of our everyday life. Intuitionism, which believes that all humans should make decisions based on their own emotions. Lastly of the four is virtue theory which argues that in order to understand the decisions a person makes, then the entirety of that person should be evaluated. These four modes create an all-encompassing ethic according to Geuras, and Garofalo. They believe that the unified ethic can
John Arthur and Peter Singer have different views when it comes to Famine Relief and the “Ideal Moral Code”. Both theories are intuitive; yet clash heads at the idea of an opinion other than their own. They essentially both argue for what is our true duty.
First adopted in 1914, the code of ethics for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is the model for professional conduct for all ASCE members. The code of ethics is an excellent model as it is broken down into eight canons for further understanding. The purpose of each canon is to serve as a guide and reminder for professional engineers that they are to have the moral and ethical integrity the profession calls for at all times while holding safety paramount. The ASCE code of ethics is very informative and insightful because although each canon does not go into great depth, the canons leave room for interpretation under different situations.
The code of ethics and conduct is a written set of rules and regulations that provides guidance to employees of an organization on how to conduct themselves and carry out their duties in line with the organization’s principles. The code of ethics and conduct is also be backed up by suitable disciplinary actions. A code of ethics and conducts helps employees deal with ethical issues and other gray areas that they face as they execute their daily activities. An effective code of ethics and conduct is required for an organization to run smoothly and maintain a positive image. Having an ineffective code of ethics and conduct is almost like having none.
"Our results indicate that the informal methods ("manager sets an example" or "social norms of the organization") are likely to yield greater commitment with respect to both employee attitudes than formal methods ("training courses on the subject of ethics") (Adam, et al, 2004).
The ACS codes of ethics is a part of the ACS constitution. As an ACS member you must uphold and advance the honor, dignity and effectiveness of being a professional. A code of conduct and a statement of formal statements describe and explain what an organization expects from its employees and a code of ethics generally consists of statements that serve as principles and basis for rules of conduct. Leaders and managers must be role models for organizational success. If employees see leaders and management demonstrating the organizational values then it adds to the commitment and credibility of leadership and reinforces the importance of the organization’s values which leads to employees who are more engaged and committed to the organization. Also turnover among employees tends to be lower and productivity tends to be high. On the other hand, if leadership demonstrates behavior that is inconsistent with the code of conduct then a negative message is sent to the employees. Therefore, employees may disengage and compromise company standards as seen in the
