1. PESTEL:
Strategic analysis is basically concerned with the structuring of the relationship between a business and its environment. The external environment which is dynamic and changing holds both opportunities and threats for the organizations. The organizations while attempting at strategic realignments, try to capture these opportunities and avoid the emerging threats. So it is very important for organizations like Intel to study and understand about the external environment. To do this, we can use the PESTEL framework.

In PESTEL framework, the external environment is classified into six broad categories: Political, Economic, Social,

This is especially important for an IT company such as Intel as it can be the key for the companies to survive or the reason which made the failure of some IT companies. There are more and more consumers in the wireless industry, nobody can argue that the PDA and cell phones have become so popular; they are the new digital trends of this era. Intel cannot ignore this profitable industry. So it has researched and announced the new chip “Atom” for mobile devices which is believed to “unleash new innovation across the industry." said Intel executive VP and chief sales and marketing officer Sean Maloney (Geoff, 2008).
Environment:
Environment conservation and protection is an issue, which has gained prominence because of deteriorating environmental balance which is threatening the sustainability of life and nature. Nowadays, environment problems have become the big matters. Every tech companies have to take the key roles to solve them including Intel. The company has proclaimed the Climate Savers Computing Initiative. The Initiative’s goal is to reduce global computer CO2 emissions by 54 million tons per year, equivalent to the annual output of 11 million cars or 10-20 coal-fired power plants. This clearly shows that Intel is trying its best to reduce the pollution of the environment.
Legal:
Nevertheless, with globalization, the rules of competition, trade mark rights
Evaluating information on events occurring outside the organization and identifying trends is environmental scanning. Trends are determined through the forces of social, economic, technological, competitive and regulatory sources. In some of my research on this subject, I found reference to the term PESTLE analysis which involves six different environments for assessment: political, economic, social, technological, legal and environment.
PC computing was the center of computing during the 1990s, but the internet took over the next decade. Cellphones are sold more than PCs, and that is because they can access the Net. Network and communication became more important to people, whether it is in the home, small business or enterprise. Intel response to the changes in the environment by investing a lot of money in four areas, client platforms, server platforms, cellular and wireless, and communication and networking. Despite the fact that Intel took several steps toward making a position for it in the mobile and internet market, the threat of being behind
PEST analysis is an imperative strategy tool used for a company, mainly to oversee and assists in project management. PEST analysis stands for the political, economic, social and technological factors of an organization. This tool is used as an aspect of an organization's competitive strategy to analyze and assess the critical external factors that may positively or negatively impact the organization (Kadlubek, 2016). When a PEST analysis is performed, the external factors are analyzed and monitor the external marketing environment. A company may consist of several external factors that can bolster or impede the development of an organization; therefore, it is beneficial and more productive to subdivide the external analysis into more feasible segments (Frederick, Agnes and John, 2011).
It has long been known that developed countries and their appetite for technology and personal devices are in part contributing to some of the issues related to climate change. As consumers and users, we are now encouraged to make responsible decisions when purchasing and using personal technology that can affect the environment. A certain level of responsibility is expected not only from users of technology, but also from manufacturers that feed our appetites for such technology devices.
This paper discusses the ethical and efficient usage of natural resources such that is does not affect the natural environment. Study and practice of using computer resources efficiently such that it reduces the impact on the environment. The global computing commerce has started to compete with the aviation industry in its own contribution to global warming. It is applicable in various tech domains like data centres, mobile computing and embedded systems, which cover most of the major domains in the global software industry. Carbon di-oxide emissions has reached to about 9.1 billion tons, the highest ever in human history. This is roughly 49% more than what was in 1990. Roughly a minimum of 2% of these emissions come from the IT sector and this number is subjected to increase with deployment of new IT systems, daily. According to analysts it has been predicted that the global computing sector will increase its carbon emissions by roughly about 6 percentage every year minimum, because of incomparable demand for them by consumers for computing services or software and hardware products. Which is why reducing the carbon di-oxide emission of IT systems is very important.
A company which wants to enter into a new market must first understand the target market’s business environment and how to create and retain customers by providing better value than the competition. As the environment changes, businesses must adapt in order to maintain strategic fit between their capabilities and the marketplace. When we are analyzing the macro environment of a company we usually use the PESTE analysis to help us to clear our goal, identify all the factors which are affecting our company directly or indirectly. Such us political factors, economic factors, social factors, technological factors, environmental factors and legal factors.
It is a strategic framework for understanding external influences on a business. The framework environmental enfluences into six main categories: Political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal. Therefore, PESTLE provides a comprehensive list of influences on the possible success or failure of particular strategies. (johnstone, Whittington, Scholes, 2012) p 21
Introduction In modern business it is extremely important for companies to have wide variety of tools, which enable them to analyse their environment and their markets. Most commonly used tools are PEST analysis, SWOT analysis and Porter’s Five Forces. In this case the most appropriate tool is PEST analysis which can be further extended to PESTEL. Other variations such as SLEPT, PESTLE, STEEPLE and STEEPLED are also possible. SWOT analysis and Porter’s Five Forces require more specific information about the actual company and its market, but in this case this information is not available. Brooks et al. (2004), say that PEST acronym stands for Political, Economic, Legal, Social and Technological environmental
With this in mind, the PESTEL model was developed to give researchers and practitioners a framework in which to consider the broader business environment. PESTEL stands for Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental and Legal. Furthermore, a PESTEL analysis is a technique that evaluates the potential impact of political, economic, social, technological, environmental, legal factors on an organization. This set of factors represents a broad set of industry and environmental considerations that any organization should make when designing strategic goals
The PESTLE framework represents one of the pillars in strategic management, which does not only define what a firm must do, but also the links between a firm’s identified goals and associated strategies. There are many other factors that can affect a firm’s success in a given environment. This means, their evaluation should be a one-to-one process to help find the basic drivers of change in order to isolate each opportunity from threats (Schewe & Hiam, 1998; Pagano & Verdin, 1997; Morrison, 2013, Pg. 44-46).
While assessing the external environment, there are different angles to consider. This makes it risky to diminish the concentration of the investigation to the external environment assessment that is influencing the Bang and Olufsen. To take care of this issue, PESTEL analysis can be conveyed, which will center consideration on political, economic, socio-cultural, technology, environmental and legal (PESTEL) qualities of the B and O's full-scale environment (Knight and Cavusgil 2004).
Most Intel’s products are produced in-house. That gives the company a better control over performance, supply chain management and new product development, and, therefore, a direct control over environmental footprint. Environmental impact assessment of the site selection is an important step to assess positive and negative impacts on community. The construction of the facilities is performed per green design standards and building concepts. Intel actively engages employees and local communities in innovative projects that reduce environmental impact, such as using recycling materials and alternative energy, gardening and water conservation (2015 Corporate Sustainability Report,
Glanbia plc is an international dairy, consumer foods, and nutritional products company. The Company conducts operations primarily in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Like any industry, the Airlines industry is influenced by outside environmental forces. These forces can include Political, Environmental, Social, and Technological, or “PEST.” The “PEST” forces impact supply, demand, and competition differently in all industries and all firms. Based on the “PEST” analysis performed we will be able to better understand what external forces drive and influence competition in the airline industry today. This analysis will help provide more information on the opportunities, risks, and threats within the industry. Firms frequently have to alter business plans, pricing, cost structures, etc. to suit their customers constant changing needs in
Green processing, likewise called green innovation, is the ecologically mindful utilization of PCs and also related assets. Such practices embody the usage of vitality effective focal handling units (CPUs), servers and in addition peripherals and also decreased asset utilization and in addition fitting transfer of electronic waste (e-waste).
