The professional I selected to interview was Victoria Sanders. I chose to interview this professional because I admire the work she does. I am still not sure what I want to do with my MFC when I obtain it, but for now I would like to work with children victims of abuse and families. I want to help children with their trauma and help them grow in a positive manner. Children are the future generation therefore they need all the support and understanding they can get. I gain a sense of happiness and fulfillment when I work with children. I have previous experience working with children and I enjoyed every opportunity. Children are fun, happy and love to play. I wouldn’t mind having a career where all I do is play. In the beginning I want to focus on that population and then explore out. One of my overall goals is to own my own practice and give back to the community.
I met Victoria Sanders this school semester she is my professor for one of my counseling classes. The course is held Thursday nights 7pm-9pm and she is always full of energy. I have grown to admire Mrs. Sanders and the work she provides to the community. One can see how passionate she is about her work through the form she expressed herself and how she glows when she is teaching to her students. Mrs. Sanders is a great example of someone who I share the same interest. Although not having much experience she took on the challenge to open up her own business, in my opinion that is admirable. Some of the
I want to become a Child Life specialist in the future. Child life specialists are trained professionals with knowledge in helping children and their families overcome some of life’s challenging and stressful events. Child life specialist have knowledge in child development and family systems, child life specialists promote effective coping through play, preparation, education, and self-expression activities(Child Life Council). They provide emotional and psychosocial support for children and families in a health care setting based on the individuals needs. Because they understand that a child’s wellbeing depends on the support of the family, child life specialists provide information, support and guidance to parents, siblings, and other family
Overall, my interview with Mari Jo Turner worked out better than I had anticipated, she was able to deal with me for 30 mins and explain the history of how the Hispanic League took a lead in our society. I was fortunate enough to have experienced many of their events and programs. The passion and devotion the staff members, board members, and the executive director display are performances not taken for granted nor will it because you can experience the testimonies of other Hispanic/Latinos that have been touched by this organization. I could tell Mrs. Turner cares about what she does to enhance the academic performance of the Hispanic/Latino students and its community. She is passionate and devoted to her job regardless of the obstacles they
Victoria Angulo has been a Husky at Chino Hills High School for the past 4 years. She was involved in Softball as an underclassman and continued her passion outside of school as an upperclassman. Her love for softball and drive to work hard paid off when she committed to Blue Mountain College in Mississippi. She is continuing her education at this school with a scholarship and will be able to play the sport she loves. Victoria is also a member of the Yearbook Staff at CHHS. She finds time to go to school events and capture memories to put in the Husky Yearbook. Victoria expressed in an interview how truly blessed she is to have had her best friend Renee Chang, also a Husky at CHHS, by her side these past four years. We are truly lucky to have
The population I am equipped to work with are couples and families. This is a population that I can empathize with very easily, a driving force in my counseling career and one very dear to my heart. My life experiences has led to a great desire to help save marriages when they can be saved, work with families and especially children from divorced families. Relationships is another area I would love to specialize in to grow in my career. Very little effort is placed on "how to" do relationships, how to grow into a great husband, a great wife or mold great children who will become great partners in the future. These areas will be my main focus points and maybe one day I can write a book on the subject.
I have had a passion for becoming a healthcare provider for children for quite a while (for a long time). Children are one of the most important individuals of society because they are the future and will one day be in charge of the world. Their health at a young age is indicative to how their health will be as adults. Childhood has a great effect on how a person turns out to be so I hope to help children I hope to use prevention and education to preserve and restore the health of my patients. My career goals are to prevent children from having to spend time in hospitals or in pain and to help them live out their life and dreams to the fullest extent. Children play a very large role in their families, and when a child becomes sick, the whole family becomes distressed. Pediatricians not only heal children, but they help and prevent a family from suffering. I love medicine and children, and I hope to combine these two passions by becoming a pediatrician.
The human mind and behaviors are what interest me the most. That’s why I'm so passionate about helping others help themselves. The human service field is my home, the only place where I could see myself having an enjoyable career. I can't wait to branch out and put my education to use. Having a spirit as big as mines this is the perfect field for me to be going into and I can't wait for the day when I'm working as a mental health psychologist.
When I was a child, I dreamt about being a doctor helping others. I knew at the early age of 7 that I wanted to make a difference in others’ lives. After the death of my mother in 1999, I slowly changed my mind about what I wanted to do with my life. I told myself that I would do whatever it took to help bring justice for families that go through what I went through with the death of my mother. As I was going through college I realized that criminal justice wasn’t for me after working in the field. I sat there one day wondering what I would do next and I realized I have a passion for helping others; and I love babies, so why not use that to my advantage. That is how I ended up here at Southern Careers Institute pursuing a career in the
I think I can bring awareness and personal experience to the children and youth role. I believe I would be able to promote awareness for
I am also passionate about making sure that my work reaches all people regardless of income, gender, race, socioeconomic status, nationality, etc. I’m passionate about helping those in need and those that lack resources. I primarily seek to work with people in lower income communities and hopefully work on projects that could help rebuild and grow those same communities. Major topics and issues that interest me in education are women’s health, public health, and managed care. My purpose now is truly fueling my passion.
One of my main goals is to one day own and run my own foster home. I want my foster home to be just like a regular family house where the children can have a sense of belonging. My major will be extremely beneficial because I will have the knowledge and experience on children’s development. Therefore, I will be able to provide the care, education, and assistance that the children need in order to have a healthy development. While I am trying to find them a wonderful permanent family, however if a family is not found for a child I will continue raising the child and helping her/him fulfill their dreams. I will work with them and help them find options for their future whether it is schooling or another desired path. Overall, I want to help children
I asked Tiffany Van Acker to provide input for my manager interview assignment. She is the manager of Walgreens chain drug store in Gautier Mississippi. I Chose Dr. Van Acker as my interview candidate because of the relationship we formed while working at Walgreens together. I wanted to analyze her responses because she helps patients in my community whom I will most likely interact with once I graduate. Dr. Van Acker has a Pharm D and BS in Biology/Chemistry and has been practicing as a pharmacist for 5 years. She was a pharmacist for 1 year before becoming a manager and currently has 7 employees under her supervision. About half of her time used for patient care and the remaining time is split between dispensing and managerial tasks. I am not very familiar with her specific work location since she recently went to work for a new Walgreens store. I do know that she serves Mississippi gulf coast patients on a daily basis that I also have experience working with.
I never knew what I wanted to do with my life, so when I came to Louisiana Tech I just started taking family and child studies classes, which I ended up loving. I would always tell people that I have no clue what I want to do but I know that every time I take another class pertaining to this major, I am convinced that I am meant to do something with this particular degree. This interview also makes me aspire to work at the Family Counseling Center for a lot of the reasons stated in the interview. I feel like I would love this job because when she was explaining what she did on a daily basis, it really fascinated me and made me feel like I might actually have a plan for my life.
I was recently fortunate enough to speak with Carri Montgomery, who lists her title as the Director of the Women’s and Newborn Center for Platte Valley SCL Health. Platte valley use to be community owed and they recently joined Sister’s of Charity which includes; Good Samaritan, Lutheran, and Saint Joseph Hospital. The purpose of this interview was to interview someone where I could see myself working in what they are doing later in my career. With this interview I hoped to learn what it took for Ms. Montgomery to be in the position she is today. Also, get advice from her to see what where the things she recommended I could do when I graduate from Metropolitan State University (MSU) in 2019. It was beneficial to interview her
I enjoy working with groups, families and one on one. My future is very clear to me working in a school environment, treatment centre, advocating for accessibility, human rights, and inclusion for everyone all of these pieces I would be thrilled for these to be part of my job. Also, I envision animals be incorporated in my practice in some way. My primary focus is and always will be the individuals that I support every skill and talent for me has always come from my heart. That’s how I need to work as a professional.
